Sony PlayStation Vita $170 + Free Shipping at Amazon

Fire sales, you say? When/where exactly do these take place? My old beat-up vita just stopped reading games this week. Probably all the BestBuy clearance games I was feeding it. :X
He's just downing the vita. There isn't going to be a fire sale on vitas anytime soon. As long as the thing gets indies and does remote play now, it's serving its purpose as to what it's for, a $200 ps4 accessory.

Best Buy essentially stopped taking in Vita games, Target is clearance out a lot of their Vita games. I'm just reading the tea leaves,

This isn't a fire sale. It's just a moving price for the unbundled vita. The Borderlands bundle is still in channel at the same MSRP. Even if we never get another bundle, vanilla units are going to be priced at $150-175 regularly.

This is not a good price for a vanilla vita.  The borderlands bundle I believe was cheaper or same price.  If you held off this long from buying a vita, you can hold off a little longer.

I bought a vita tv on launch purely because I couldn't find an affordably priced vita, and I bought it just for DanganRonpa and Senran Kagura.

Ended up loving the console so much I bought a used vita and play it more than any of my consoles. Been hooked on Helldivers and Olli Olli 2 lately.

Really thinking about buying one. Is it worth it for $170?? Really only interested in playing mlb the show, uncharted, and sly cooper. Any other must have vita games?

If portability is important to you then yes, double yes if you own a ps4 as well.

I bring it with me when I do laundry :D/

People have been predicting the $100 price drop on the vita for awhile now...still waiting for it.

They said the same thing last year about a price drop. Besides, with the yen the way it is, $200 will still get you the Japanese PS Vita with damn nice case colors.

IMHO, the uncharted game was nowhere near as great as the console games. I've personally bought the Vita twice... Once at launch, and once about a year and a half ago. I ended up trading it in both times because I wasn't using it, and there was a trade promo going on. For me personally, it wasn't worth it.

I wouldn't buy it solely because the OG model is better. The OLED screen is well worth the added weight and size.

There's plenty of Vita games for it, plus a ton of PSOne games you can play on it.

I love my Vita.

I know a lot if people feel this way but I for one do not like the OLED screen. Never liked it on the smart phones that used it either. I like the slim better, I like the screen better and it is way easier to hold for an extended period not to mention the increased battery life.

I've been waiting to buy a Vita. I did a little research, and it looks like a New bundle comes put every few months. The BL2 bundle was announced April of 2014, so I think we are due for a new bundle soon

I'm curious to how much Sony is gonna further put out for the Vita system/PSTV with their recent write off in the financial report for both systems.

The VITA is still a great handheld. If your into JRPGS and/or Japanese centric games I'd say It's the best system on the market along with the 3DS.

If you can game at home take a look at the PSTV compatabile list as the PSTV is quite a bit cheaper and offers gaming on the big screen. Obviously there are a lot of big names that don't work: Tearaway (obvious reasons), Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice (though Delta works) Y's and a few other big games.

However, don't forget you need a decent sized memory card if you plan on taking advantage of PS+ or buying lots of digital games.

I got a white assasin's creed bundle brand new on ebay for $135 with an extra memory card and a couple of cases (white to match my PS4 =) ) about 2 months ago.  I also had the Borderlands Bundle that I got really cheaply from Target, which I sold for what I paid for it.  I sold the non-OLED model to get this one, but IMHO they're equal overall but for different reasons.

Original: liked the white color, more availability of accessories, more luxurious feel, and of course the better screen. (my hand cramps more often holding this one)

Newer: easier to hold (yes more comfortable in your hand, less cramping), better battery life, and better trigger buttons and start/select buttons. (feels cheaper and screen is a little washed out)

It's all about what you value more.  I valued the look of it (matching my PS4) and the screen, but others who play it more would probably value the better comfort and battery life.

I'm assuming the remote play only works on a local network vs say if you are miles away from your Ps4?
It does both.

I use mine pretty much exclusively at home though, I rarely take the Vita (or any portable really) out of the house unless i'm on a trip. I did try it at my parents house a few weeks ago. worked fine playing my PS4 over the internet.

I have a PSTV which is OKAY wifi-wifi.

Specifically I have a wife who magically wants to always be on the TV that I am using (bedroom/livingroom). I was mostly thinking of using it on the couch on a local network.

Fire sales are coming soon enough.

the easiest thing to look for is a 3G model, the newest vita's are wi fi only
or you could just look at the system itself...the OLED vitas have metal in the middle and its pretty obvious to see. There is also the button underneath the left joystick. It is oval on the older (OLED) vitas but round on the new slims.

anyone looking at this should also watch warehouse deals, i picked up a $135 rated Good that mentioned some damage to the packaging. im hoping it will be new.

You get a fancy colored (import) vita for the same price with shipping from superufo.com.

Just got a light blue/white one and it's perfect

Is this a deal? What do Vitas retail for these days? I bought my White OLED Vita w/ a game new for less than this... over two years ago. :|

If that happens, it'll be the 3000 unit with MicroSD support...

...nah...Sony doesn't want to make money on the Vita.

I agree with you entirely. The mura ruined the original Vita screen for me. Went through three different units and finally found one that I could tolerate. Dropped it like a hot potato for a Slim when they came out. Slim is soooo much better.

I wouldn't hold out hope for a Vita 3000 with micro SD. I'd sure love a Vita with a faster video decoder and L2/R2 for remote play, but I bet we see a dumb client for that in a year or two -- decoder, buttons, larger screen, no meaningful internal memory or ability to play its own games. The writedown on PS TV and Vita components in the latest financials will only get worse if they jettison the memory format. And it was for components rather than inventory, which suggests it'd be really hard to get a new Vita design approved as it would probably force a write off of a lot of those components.

Sorta FTFY...maybe.

A little curious, how long did it take for the mura effect to become apparent in your three Vita models?

I also found a way to measure the memory card speeds. While I'm not so sure if it's a good benchmark, the memory card transferred about 600MB in about eight to ten minutes. Sony, this is 2015.

Remote play is my primary use for the Vita; I use it for Destiny (and Bungie put the effort in to make it especially usable for remote play on the Vita; it maps R2 and L2 to the screen, and the run button to D-Pad down). Caveat: I use it primarily in the house, and it puts too much lag in to play PvP in Destiny, but it works well for regular grinding tasks. Well worth it if you want to do some non twitch gaming away from where your PS4 is hooked up (or if you or someone else wants to use that TV for something else at the same time).

Damn, wasn`t this the going rate during holiday`s I got the $250 one for $190 when BB had the $60 gc coupon glitch not too long after it launched. I`ve been out da loop but could`ve sworn $130-$150 was possible during early 2014 when consoles ppl were scoring $200-$250 PS4`s/$300 XB1
