So where exactly do they get this massive supply of consoles? :x are they taking old white models and converting them to black or something? Are that many Americans destroying their Wii Us?!
 
In for one.  Waited for a long while for this one.  But that price is pretty much the best I have seen.  And I trust Nintendo enough to work with their refurbished systems.  Haven't had a system die on me yet that wasn't either my own fault or physically damaged like my first poor poor DSi.

 
Well fuck me with a rusty aerosol can full of fire ants and salt... I just bought a white Wii U Skylanders bundle for $200 at Gamestop

I've seen videos and pictures of these and most look brand new. I honestly think instead of lowering the MSRP, Nintendo repackages new ones as refurbs so they can sell them to people who are are price-conscious like us at the $200 price point.

So did I, but I like the white look better. Plus I still got a better deal because I got cheap gift cards from card pool, so I paid $189 for my system, instead of the $212 it would've cost with tax.

i wouldn't buy a refurb anymore, just my experience but the refurb i bought last year started having internal memory problems about 6 months in, a file got corrupt and was undeletable and I had to reformat the system and only use external storage (losing all my data).  

i traded it into gamestop for more than i paid so i'm glad to be rid of it, but i won't buy a refurb nintendo system again.  Maybe I just got unlucky with the single bad refurb they made but I doubt it.

they are definitely not new systems, when I traded it in I noticed there were stamps on the bottom of the system that indicated they were all refurbished in mexico, thats not the manufacture point (china).  I don't know if its returned systems that get refurbed, broken systems that get refurbed, or new systems that failed QA that get refurbed but I'd guess its a combo of all 3 so its a big YMMV on the quality of yours.

Darn. Too bad I already pulled the trigger on a new Mario 3D World Black Wii U bundle for $250. Nintendo's refurbs are generally like-new quality anyway.

If it's anything like the Wii's two "remodels" any changes would simply remove features. It'd be pertinent to purchase one before that happens if you're interested.

I wouldn't purchase a refurb product from Nintendo again after I purchased a Wii Remote set and it came full of scratches, looser buttons than original and a loose nunchuck joystick, which affects gaming a lot and makes it more difficult to use. I don't care about the scratches, but there was a large amount of them, I felt like I was getting something that was basically garage sale quality. That $20 remote set came to about $27 after shipping and tax. I would have been better off buying used from ebay, could have probably avoided shipping and tax that way and gotten a hardly used product.  I bought a used Wii remote on ebay and it came in nearly perfect condition and was pretty cheap. The shipping and tax for NY state (where I live) also kind of negates the deals, if they were free shipping that would be a much better deal, because if I really want a refurb item from Nintendo I can probably get it on sale at retail for around the same price and get something brand new for just a few dollars more.

 
Fantastic deal. Given Nintendo's history, especially as opposed to Sony and MS's, I completely trust Nintendo hardware enough to treat a refurbed console as new. It's not that old, anyway. I say go for it.
 
In college, I'd buy broken nintendo SPs and send them in for free repair. Always received them in like new condition and it came with a warranty. Great purchase
 
It was from 2003-2005 that I did it. Actually I was flipping a lot of things during that time while I worked part time and was a full time student.
 
I have 2 black 32gb wii u.  one of them is refurbished one from nintendo and when I got it for $200, disc drive failed to work after couple of days.  I sent it in for repair and they send me another refurbished unit.  One I received from repair center had different serial number so I guess they just replaced it.  Not all refurbished consoles are working 100%.
