Why are you guys so allergic to going into the steam/pc thread if you are interested in PC games. Is there something I'm not getting? Neuro actually makes an extra effort to keep the op and the replies updated daily with deals.

This forum is all over FriskyTanuki doing the same thing but somehow Neuros combined PC thread is the redheaded stepchild?

A thread for a single digital store that posts deals on a regular schedule is rather not the same thing as a thread for all deals for games on an entire platform.

If I'm not mistaken, the purpose of a deals forum is that everyone can post deals, not that one person can curate a daily digest of deals.

Everyone can post deals in the Steam thread to, and it'll have been added (or get added) to the OP. It also streamlines and makes finding a deals for Steam games much easier. Compare to if I was looking for a deal on PS3 games, I'd have to dig through at least 5-6 threads (probably more) it looks/seems. If I did a lot of buying for PS3 I'd love a PS3 deals thread to streamline, but I don't really pick up much (if anything) for my PS3 so I'm not exactly the target and if people who buy PS/Xbox like the current model then power to them.

Likewise the PC games folk like the mega thread, and if they (I guess we is better use but meh) want a thread for all deals on an entire platform, then what's wrong with that?

Why do people get butt hurt if there are two threads? I'll never understand why people can't see a second thread, snd think I already know that so I won't waste my time reading it and posting to it.

I admit I am pretty amazing, but it generally takes me less than 10 seconds to scan all the posts and filter which ones I care about. I also can filter double posts without my brain exploding or my ass hurting.

Not everyone wants the same thing, though. Why should people who start their own threads have to catch this "there's a thread for this" shit from the legion of self-appointed hall monitors?

Alright console people who occasionally buy stuff on the PC even if it's not that great of a deal and refuse to ever check the PC thread because reasons can have your own threads. Fine. Whatever floats your boats.

It was the console people complaining about separate PC threads that ghettoized us in the first place but whatever.

Please create separate threads about every PC deal that's 10-30% off and have fun.

I see the thread as a DIRT 3 deal.... not a Steam deal.

Just doing a little research.... this was CODEMASTERS doing this.... again, not Steam.

And people knew of this more than a year ago. Just not *when* it would drop.

http://www.gamewatcher.com/news/2015-16-01-dirt-3-upgrade-to-complete-edition-on-steam-for-all-owners

The migration was announced over a year ago when there was talk of the GFWL service potentially ending.
Note this article is from January 2015.. mentioning the "over a year ago" then.

Those big all in one threads... shit gets buried quick when you have to deal with useless banter about how good a deal, not a good deal, game sucks... Why can't this game go on sale... DRM this... F Steam...

And yeah, on mobile... CAG goes directly to the very last page of the thread when you click it... so then you have to scroll to the bottom.. click the "first" tab.. and hope the front page is updated to reflect the "deal" that got the thread bumped to the front page... or else it's time to start reading the thread backwards to figure out whats going on.

Thanks OP for the heads up.

Already have Dirt 3, how do I get the complete for free?

EDIT: Maybe because I didn't sign onto the steam client yet and on the website instead.

This is hilarious.

People, its just a thread trying to let other people know that this deal is happening. I don't see anything wrong with it, and many people (like me) don't follow PC/Steam threads so I appreciate it.

I love the word people, BTW.

You should now have two versions of Dirt 3 on your account. They didn't "upgrade" the old version, just gave every owner a different version with full Steam integration. If you have an old GFWL key, you should be able to activate it on Steam.

Yes because clicking 2 buttons is so strenuous. Yet see the outcry there if there was an individual thread created for every 10% off pc game that came along.

Someone gets it.

Someone does not.

And just a quick check of that other thread... yep, trash talking of anyone NOT posting there...

Sweet deal. I really enjoyed this game on 360, so I imagine the PC experience is excellent. Not sure if I'll take the leap, but thanks for posting, OP.

EDIT: I meant for existing owners, not the 20% off price.

Basically what I see in this thread:

"lol i'm too lazy to look at Steam deal thread that Neuro updates......thx for posting individual sale so my tiny brain can understand it"

And you, Thebacklash, you can stay the hell out of my PC threads with your stupid way of ending everything with an ellipsis. You know that typing just one of those dots signifies the end of a sentence, right?

no i did not know that...

I see the crap posted in the steam thread, it's why it's frequented by the same people...

And since you know the word for them, you should know *WHY* it's there.

Should read the ToS here a little closer BTW.

I love how there are multiple GS/BB/etc threads, but don't anyone dare post anything PC related outside of 1 Holy thread.

Personally I don't care to get Dirt 3, wouldn't have even posted in here if it wasn't for the self appointed hall monitors (as someone else pointed out) And no I don't go into the steam thread either... (dammit, there it is again) I have a wishlist for Steam, I get notifications when they go on sale, I tend to take my first break at work about 30 minutes after Steam updates for the day, takes me 30 seconds to see if anything of any value is on sale. Unfortunately, PSN/XBL do *NOT* have a simple way of checking sales and price history. Thats where CAG comes in.

Oh balls. I wish I'd have known it were on sale. If only there was some way to know.

Oh wait, already bought the base game when it was $4.08. I think I got that deal from the Steam thread.

20% off's not too bad though...

While to me it's kind of whatever do you what you want...I don't get the hostility toward the PC thread either. There are a lot more storefronts out there than just Steam to buy from, and Neuro does an excellent job gathering them all in the op, and members will post what he misses throughout the day. Really it's just convenient.

Like if I need to go grocery shopping I prefer to buy all my things from one store as opposed to buying my bread from wal mart, driving to giant to get eggs, and the corner store to get milk, but whatever.

But what if you could flip the eggs over at Walmart, thereby coming out ahead on the bread?

Anyhow, maybe we could post deals in separate threads for popular games that are at or near their historical lows. Of course, this deal is terrible because Dirt 3 has been bundled 3 times by Humble Bundle and has also been around 5 bucks at several stores.

As long as your intent is to post deals, then it's perfectly acceptable to create tons of threads!

I do not need to provide an explanation. It was clear to me and everyone that reported him that his intentions were not to post deals.

Boy, it's easy to play ignorant.

Yeah, I've never heard of Humble Bundle, Indie Gala, Indie Royale, Bundle Stars, Groupees, Nuuvem, GamersGate, Get Games, or any of the dozen other websites that sell Steam games for cheaper than the Steam store, either. And I DEFINITELY don't use ITAD.

There's absolutely NO simple way of checking current XBL deals, either

One person was just silenced and the other was banned for posting threads outside of the Steam deals. You console people sure are lucky.

Look, Cheapy occasionally necros the GMG thread even though we've moved GMG talk to the megathread, so clearly we were wrong for merging all digital PC storefront deals into one thread. Cheapy wanted it this way.

Of course, this begs the question of what htz is doing going against the will of his lord and master by deleting all those separate deal threads. Is rebellion fomenting in the ranks of the mods? The people have a right to know!

Is it an I-patch?

(because you said me phone. Like a... like a pirate. Never mind)
I... sure. Why not?

really i shouldn't have used eggs in this example at all. they're kind of like the double fine of groceries. i already have 4 cartons of eggs in my fridge and i barely eat them but then when you're buying a bundle of groceries it's like "dammit eggs are in here again"

"you console guys" LMFAO I just picked up a console on black friday after 4+ years of strict PC gaming only. I have almost 400 PC games... and about 35 console games. (not counting the PS+ stuff I got since joining in November)

Noticed since November though, console gamers are a Hell of a lot less Elitist.

Is that why you capitalize words that require no capitalization? Because you're totally down to earth?

Okay, but seriously, as somebody who regularly buys console and PC games, I just want to point out that I think the point of all this talk by the Steam thread regulars has been to point out that hey, you guys who don't check in with that thread occasionally are getting ripped off with "deals" like this. In their own peculiar way, they're actually looking out for you.

Granted, they're being asses about it, but the non-Steam-thread-regs have been kind of ass-ish about the whole thing, too. Which is really to be expected, given that this is CheapAssGamer.

Since you are clearly more intelligent, can you point out what part of this you are referencing?

@Souff - the point of all this talk now is that people were silenced for this and it's a little foolish. It's a point made. Also, I'm not sure the console peasants know what "fomenting" means, so you might want to replace that with something with less syllables. ;)

And yes, there were far better deals posted. It's stupid that this random 20% off Steam store "deal" that you would get an e-mail about like backlash said is somehow still here.

don't mind blade, most people in the pc thread i don't think are seriously elitist. in fact most of us (myself included) own a console (i actually have a wii u, ps3, and 360). i think a lot of the elitist posting is pretty tongue in cheek.

still think just following one thread is a lot easier. i like easy it's why i've had peanut butter and fluff everyday for breakfast for the past month

wutevar tho im just one man

A lot of the ass-ishness about the whole thing, my opinion, came from people using the thread as a platform to bash the Steam thread. Being it's a little community of sorts, that was never going to go over well and well it turned into a "who can be the biggest ass," thread

The capitalization, first off "Elitist" would be the only questionable one.

November, months are capitalized.

Hell. It's autocorrect doing that because it would generally switch it to "he'll" when you type Hell, it's also a place so it's perfectly fine to capitalize.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalization

20% off isn't that great of a deal I agree. But you miss the point. ANYONE who purchased Dirt 3 prior to this update gets the new non-GFWL version on Steam. (That would mean people who bought a physical disk version)

Codemasters made the announcement, the OP posted it hours before the Steam thread had any mention of any Steam "sale"

It's the regular PC Steam thread posters that kept fanning the flames. Read the posts by 5 or so posters that kept at it, read the ToS I linked.. it doesn't take very long to see why those two were dealt with.

@blade Go read the ToS again. The answer is in the Community Rules section. (Yes capitalized Souffrir, look at the ToS)

Sometimes it's best to point people in the right direction and see if they can learn things on their own, holding their hand does not teach them. Other times people refuse to learn, and they get dealt with by moderators.

This thread not locked? yeah I don't see why it isn't either. I agree that it should have been locked down when the others were dealt with. Leaving it open *will* cause this to continue for longer than it should have.

Oh, you're right, you're completely innocent in all this, as are all the people who jumped down motoki's throat for suggesting that they might find a better place for discussing this sort of thing elsewhere.

The steam thread did have the Dirt upgrade deal posted a day before (post 9273) and Neuro updated the OP with that info and the small discount. For anyone interested the OP is updated every day, even more if necessary and that's all you have to check if you don't want to dig through posts.

However, like I said before, I think it would be fine if we posted deals on well-known games (subjective, I know) if they're at or better than their historical lows. Its just that we get complaints if we stray out of the PC thread.
