If Nintendo was smart they'd make Pokemon Amibos

Aren't there like 750 pokemon anymore? I can't imagine how many retailer exclusive characters there would be (Go get Bulbasaur at Starbucks! Charmander at Fry's! Squirtle at Best Buy! Go get Electabuzz at McDonald's!). Plus they couldn't just release them all at once, and even 10 a month is a 6 year release cycle... it just seems like a really bad idea all-around.

It's not the best solution but I think they're doing the amiibo relatively right. They messed up with the production numbers on the first group but they're making more, which is a good thing.

And between Pikachu, Lucario, Charizard, Jigglypuff, Mewtwo, and Greninja they've got a bunch of Pokemon that'll get amiibo. Maybe they can do a special amiibo here or there (I could see it being part of the launch of the next generation- get a special amiibo of the character on the cover). But there are way too many Pokemon to go full-out, and Nintendo probably knows it.

damn really? It seems they didn't market it much because i knew absolutely nothing about it. They're marketing the hell out of the amibos though. I see them and hear about them everywhere.
They weren't traditional Pokémon designs, they were based off the Toy Pokémon designs used in the game. They were released at the beginning of the Wii U's life cycle and only at GameStop. It lasted only a wave or two.

I am a little surprised Nintendo doesn't make any for the Pokken Tournament arcade cabinets. It's not like it's uncharted territory for them considering Pokémon Tretta.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases a Pokemon Amiibo line in card form.  There are just too many different types to release in figure form, but the card format would be perfect.  Not sure I would try to collect them all though, if 750 cards are involved.
