I'm not going to go all out with a mega-detailed thread like I did for MK9, but figured I may start something here so people playing specifically the XBone version have a place to discuss/arrange stuff. If there's enough interest, anyway.

Picked it up at midnight. For some reason it took an incredibly long time to install so I only had about an hour to play before I had to sleep. Managed to get it for 30 bucks between GCU discount and $20 in rewards credit. Bought the Kombat Pass and felt kinda filthy about it, but I had 45 bucks in Live credit so at least I wasn't spending my own money....so 30 bucks for both the game and the pass ain't bad. Placed the order online from BBY and haven't gotten the Goro code in my email yet, hopefully when I get home today it'll be there. Probably should have just bought it at the store so I could have gotten it on the receipt. I did manage to get a black "Kombat" shirt since I was first in line (despite only waiting a half hour).

Faction stuff was very spotty, more often not working than working so far. Not surprised though, I'm sure that'll get sorted as the week goes on. I joined Brotherhood of Shadow to start but I'll be moving around (there's an achivement for joining every faction).

It seems like there isn't really a quality stick or pad that is also affordable which is kind of a shame. Hoping we have more options soon. I was considering that PDP pad on Amazon but reviews aren't that great which is a turn off considering the thing is 50 bucks.

I'm really mediocre at this so far, part of it is adjusting to playing MK style on the X1 pad, but the other more significant parts of it are I'm not that great to begin with and I haven't played MK in at least 2 years. Game seems pretty well-made though, they put a lot of time into story and atmosphere, which the vast majority of fighting games fall short on. It doesn't strike me as the total revelation that MK9 was, but I'm still liking it a ton and will be sticking with it for the forseeable future.

I was going to hold off on purchasing this until later, but I'll be picking it up today on my way to work. The season pass being $20 off at Target, plus 20% off with all my discounts (team member, red card, pharmacy rewards) makes it easier to swallow. Doubt I'll get to play until Wednesday night though depending how long the installation and 1.8 GB update takes.

Going to be a little rusty as it's been a while since I played MK9 but I may rock Kitana as my main representing White Lotus (because why not). I can see myself using Cassie as well though, just because her Facebook Fatality feels like trolling.

I'll be picking my pre-order copy up at BBY tonight after work.  I enjoyed the last MK from 2011 but sucked hard at Injustice, even though I enjoyed the eye-candy.  Hoping to have some fun with MKX.

 
Can't wait to start this later (whenever the UPS guy gets here with my Import copy). I'll main Scorpion, as I have ever since I started playing the MK games as a kid. I'm not great by any means, but I always enjoy the games.

 
It's not a bad game, but lets face it. After about 10 fights, it's time to play something else and go back to it later. The story mode is pretty cool though. 

I may start going to more Bestbuy launches. I literally showed up at 10:55pm. Walked to the counter and finished paying, they handed me my copy, and 11:01, I was out the door and back home at 11:15

 
I am loving MKX so far, I picked up one of the fight pads as well, which is also great. I really want to leave work and go home and play MK all day, but I have a ton of stuff to do today and adult life prevents me from taking the day off.  My GT is Lord Hypnos if anyone wants to play some MKX later, I too have KI and will play that as well. 

 
I played a Klassic tower last night, and some SP Single fights.  Then i did some Tutorials.  I had a hard time with the timing of some of the combos.  I need more practice I guess bfore jumping online.

I felt that way when I started playing with the Xbox One wireless controller, but after picking up the MKX Fight Pad I have had no issues and find the controller improves the experience a ton, at least for me anyway. I highly recommend the Fight Pad, only downfall is that there is no headset port, which isn't a huge deal for, but a bit of an inconvenience none the less.

 
I played and beat the klassic tower last night, also did some story mode and finished the first part.  I've enjoyed it so far, looking forward to playing when I get home from work today.  If anyone wants to add me my GT is     axl rose 4183

That's good to know. I was thinking about getting the MKX Fight Pad. That... or the Cronus thingamajig that maybe let me use my 360 fight stick in my X1.

Depends on what you prefer. Fight sticks are nice, but I prefer the fight pad when it comes to MK, just feels more natural for me. Controller fits my hands like a glove too! $50 is a beat pricey for it IMO, but it was worth it and I feel like they won't be around for real long, I had to hunt one down here because Best Buy didn't carry it. I stopped at a Gamestop and they had a few though.

 
So i did the Tutorial and there's a section on Throw cancelling.  I did them, but I still don't understand why I want to cancel a throw.  Can you guys explain to me?  Thanks!

 
The fight pad controller is nice. The buttons are arcade style buttons when you push on them. Seems like you don't have to use as much effort to push them vs the regular controller.

I think I may actually pick this up soon. Heard really good things about it, so may as well. Never played MK9 though. 

 
Was it officially confirmed that the patches DO NOT reduce your koin collection on first run throughs of different modes? Someone on NeoGAF made that claim on Wed. but I thought it was debunked.

Also for those that didn't see, PS3 fightsticks WILL work on this game for PS4. You have to turn on your DS 4 controller and have it stay on then have your PS3 stick plugged into one of the 2 USB ports.

Managed to break the titanium symbol on Test Your Might after like 15 tries and felt like calling in sick the next day claiming injury. fuck. That don't even give you an achievement for it.

When I beat it, it was because I basically did that with my hands (laid fingers across buttons and basically just did a rapid rolling motion over all of the buttons). Too bad I didn't think to do that on the first 10 attempts.

Was very pleasantly surprised a couple days ago when I beat a Klassic Tower for the first time and got a character-specific ending. Thought for the first couple of days they didn't do those for this game.

Lin Kuei won week 1. Shocker, I know, that the MK equivalent of "Ryu" had the most players onboard. Hopefully it'll start moving around a bit once people realize you get an achievement for getting max level on every faction.

Would prefer no specific "spoilers" since it's still early on, but can anyone confirm if any "secret tower fights" have been discovered yet? I saw the achievement but haven't heard any talk about anyone discovering anything yet.

Nice! I like Erron Black. I need to try to get better with him and Cassie Cage. I like that she has a lot of easy, fast hitting combos.

 
First secret fight method was found within the last day or two.

Have to play the MK1 living tower and get up to the 6th fight, and then get a flawless victory (it's not explicitly stated double flawless, so assuming a single would do it...but if that doesn't work for you, it may need to be double flawless). Do a fatality or brutality at the end. If you take damage, lose on purpose and retry (don't have to have zero losses).

I won't spoil who you fight, but don't get your hopes up for anything mind-blowing.

That's it. Haven't been able to test it yet. Last time I was in the game 2 days ago the MK1 tower wasn't even available yet.

Edit - only need a single flawless, did it earlier. I then had my ass handed to me in the secret fight. They cranked the difficulty up for that one.

You can also just go back to the character selection screen and retry from there. But yeah, I don't think I got a hit in during the fight.

the secret fight is in the mk1 premium tower. how to activate the secret fight is easy to figure out if you knew how to get the secret fight in the very first mortal kombat.

...I answered my own question right below that, but thanks anyway.

It's not really a direct correlation to the first MK though. The first MK had you watching for silhouettes over the moon on a specific stage, having to get a double flawless, land a fatality, all while not blocking. The requirements on MKX are much less strict. Get 1 flawless, do fatality or brutality.

Anyone else playing the mobile game? It's not great by any means and has its share of bugs, but it's pretty fun and addicting.

 
At least as of yesterday it wasn't out for Android (in the US, anyway), did that change? I'll get it once it's finally up on the app store just to get Farmer Jax skin, if nothing else. I'm assuming it's similar to the Injustice and WWE Immortals games. As long as you can earn coins by using it, I'll have it installed for a while.

Still don't think it's out in the US for Android yet. I've been playing on iOS since it came out. I haven't played those other two games, but from what I've read, it's very similar. You also get random gifts for logging in each day and when milestone are reached (1 million players, etc.).

Well, they said there were no stage fatalities...but they didn't say anything about stage brutalities.

Out tomorrow if you bought the pass. Love him just walking through projectiles. Hope there's a Jason X alternate costume.  This is kind of the only one I really wanted, so they're starting the show with a showstopper for me.

Only about half a dozen things left to go in the Krypt for me. I did a lot of work over the double coin weekend. Once that crap is out of the way I'll actually start focusing on picking one or two characters and trying to learn them.

 
Jason's up, horror costume pack is up, Android version is up as well. Weekly premiere tower is an MKII ladder. I got to the secret fight and have no idea how I did so. I guess maybe just not losing any matches up until the 7th or 8th fight, not sure.

UNLOCK MOBILE COSTUMES IN CONSOLE VERSION WITHOUT PLAYING THE SHITTY MOBILE GAME:

Not an exact science to this, but there's a bug that is still active where if you go to the online PVP leaderboards for the console version and load up the history/stats for the first 7 or 8 players (maybe less, but that's what I did) and just let it sit on the stats screen for around 20 seconds each, you'll unlock all the available costumes from the mobile version. It gave me MK2 Kitana, Farmer Jax, and Injustice Scorpion (I already had Mime Johnny Cage). It also gave me a few icons/backgrounds. It did not give me MK2 Mileena because it's not available yet and no one has it. Hopefully the bug is still active when that arrives (or if not, hopefully it's not really hard to get in the mobile version).

Nah, I just looked at a bunch of the top players' stats - nothing comes up instantaneously, but when you back out to the main menu you'll get the pop ups for what you unlocked.

 
General Gameplay fixes

  • Many movelist frame data corrections.
  • Corrected many normal attacks that were intended to be 0 or negative on block were being overridden to be +2
  • Hitting Front Punch + Back Punch + Front Kick at the same time at the special cancel window will no longer cause an enhanced move to come out
  • Removed the ability to mash normal attacks while continuing to block after blocking an attack
  • You can no longer cancel into an enhanced interaction during the first 10 frames of some block stuns.
  • Versus Session Stats are now correctly award as wins/losses when you pause and exit to player select or restart match (Versus Session Stats can be turned on in Main Menu > Options > Game Play)
  • Fixed several characters being able to attack on the first frame of a jump.
  • Added unlock counter for Krypt.
  • Fixed an issue that was preventing some players from joining an in-progress Ladder, KOTH, or Team Battle match from a chat lobby.
  • Ping meter accuracy improvements.
  • You can now choose to not play a Ranked Match if the connection is below the set threshold.
  • Matchmaking improvements when finding a Ranked or Player Match.
  • Player Skill Rating algorithm improved.
  • Fixed crash occurring when receiving online VS. Challenge while editing Kombat Kard.
  • Fixed a crash that sometimes happened when skipping the last fight in the Klassic Tower.
  • Fixed an issue causing some offline replays to report “playback does not agree”.
  • Added the ability to go full screen in the KOTH viewer by PS4 players who use devices that do not have a touchpad button



Character Specific Fixes

  • Cassie (Hollywood) - Assault Force combo can no longer be special canceled after the knockdown.
  • Ermac (Spectral) – Special cancels done during Soul Accession now award the correct amount of meter.
  • Goro – Brutal Kick now hits overhead.
  • Jason – Temple Punch & Shoulder Push no longer auto-correct after it’s started moving.
  • Jason (Unstoppable) – Some special moves were delaying resurrection from happening until the move was over.
  • Jax – Can no longer get a free hit on opponents after his X-Ray.
  • Johnny Cage – Adjusted some hitboxes to hit crouching opponents more consistently.
  • Kitana – Can now perform her X-Ray attack while airborne.
  • Kitana –No Longer airborne for the first frame after her X-Ray connects which could prevent her from blocking.
  • Kitana – Gained a new attack on away +3 (Pretty Kick)
  • Kitana (Mournful) – Glaive Throw no longer disables blocking removing a possible infinite combo.
  • Kitana (Mournful) – Fixed a bug that causing the 2nd hit of Glaive Return to sometimes not come out.
  • Kitana (Mournful) – Opponent can no longer by OTG’d after being hit by Staff Grab
  • Kung Jin - Cartwheel Smash is now -3 on block (down from +4)
  • Kung Jin (Bojutsu) – Several staff attacks were not combo damage scaling correctly
  • Kung Lao (Tempest) – Cyclone now has 7 startup frames (up from 5)
  • Kung Lao (Tempest) - Hat Spin & Orbiting Hat will now combo link correctly afterwards
  • Kung Lao (Tempest) – Shortened the time it takes for his hat to return after Hat Spin & Orbiting Hat.
  • Mileena - Tele-Kick can no longer be punished on hit and will combo when special canceled into Air Sai Blast or X-Ray.
  • Mileena – Can now perform her X-Ray attack while airborne.
  • Mileena – Improved tracking on X-Ray
  • Quan Chi (Summoner) - Demon Spawn’s cooldown is no longer reset when a Bat attack hits the opponent.
  • Quan Chi (Summoner) – Fixed some cases where the Demon Spawn wasn’t going away when Quan Chi got hit.
  • Quan Chi (Summoner) – Fixed an issue causing Demon Spawn to sometimes instantly disappear after being summoned.
  • Quan Chi (Warlock) – No longer has the Front Punch, Back Punch, Throw combo (Portal Slam).
  • Quan Chi (Warlock) – Gained a new special move Portal Scoop (D, F, FP).
  • Raiden -  Shocker was causing combo damage scaling to be reset.
  • Raiden (Thunder God) -  adjusted some combo damage scaling
  • Shinnok – Away + 3 (Shin Kick) is now towards + 4 and he has a new away + 3 (Devious Heel)
  • Shinnok – Can now enhance Hell Sparks & Hell Blast on block.
  • Shinnok (Impostor) – Now steals Dash Punch from Jax instead of Ground Pound.
  • Shinnok (Necromancer) – Can now control the location of Judgment Smash & Judgment Fist.
  • Sonya (Special Forces) – No longer gains meter for Park Drone and Remove Park.
  • Sonya (Special Forces) - Park Drone and Remove Park no longer resets combo damage scaling
  • Subzero (Grandmaster) – Ice Klone now always correctly goes away on block instead of sometimes leaving a Klone with no active hitbox.
  • Subzero (Grandmaster) – Ice Klone cooldown is no longer instantly reset if it goes away on its own.
  • Takeda – Slightly decreased the combo damage scaling on Fist Whirlwind & Whip Flurry.
  • Takeda – Can now do his X-Ray with the Block + Front Kick + Back Kick shortcut on an arcade stick while jumping straight up.
  • Takeda (Ronin) – When special cancelling into Blade Drop it will always fall the same distance regardless of Takeda’s facing.
