The Official Grand Theft Auto V PC Thread

Think I'll stream my install so someone can steal my key as well.   :wall:

Back to reality - going to be installed tonight though I might not get much time to play until tomorrow....sort of waiting to let out a lot of frustration driving recklessly again.

Lots of stuttering. GTX970, i5 2500k @ 4.4, and 8GB's of RAM. Seen TONS of people with 970's also complaining about stuttering. Hopefully Rockstar or Nvidia acknowledge and fix the problem.

I just watched all the Fatalities in MK X.  Wow is all I can say.  Not sure which of them was the best...although I thought Kung Lao's table saw hat was the best one overall for sheer brutality since you had to look at it before you died.

Anyway....still waiting for this darn thing to finish downloading....dang it....should've just installed off the DVD's but I've been out most of the night.  At least I can start up where I was at on the PS4....and Vice City still had the best soundtrack for the GTA games.

Pretty stupid you can't make a party and all join a quick match or something. Kinda works if you all stand on the same blue circle in freemode or if you start one up, immediately close it to everybody and then invite who you want.

I do occasionally crash (ATI Card w/ Latest Drivers) when I hit LB with a controller to aim while driving since I switch to my controller to drive. It doesn't always happen, but I've had that happen about four times I think. Also crashed twice in online, one when switching maps during TDM and another when exiting from a lobby post-game of TDM.

Other than that, it runs and plays great. May be looking for some people for some heists as well, so I'll throw my Rockstar Social Profile link out:

I prefer to use my TeamSpeak 3 server as I rent it for friends and I.

some people on reddit/ neogaf are saying you have to do a total reinstall, by uninstalling your drivers first, the reinstalling it. i am not sure if that will actually work for you.

I'm also running a GTX 970 card and I'm having problems with stuttering and crashing. When the game works, it looks beautiful, but it's really buggy currently. I wouldn't get your hopes up of playing for a decent period of time, until they release a fix for all these issues.

200+MB patch came out today. The stuttering I was seeing in singleplayer seems massively reduced, if not completely eliminated. Also getting a bit better performance when driving at high speeds through the city. Previously I'd drop to 55'ish FPS at times, but now it seems to stay rock solid at 71FPS. This allowed me to go in and enable long shadows and high quality shadows.

Got to spend some extended time with it this weekend, ran pretty smooth on the new 970.  Lowest framerate dip was 58.  Game looks incredible coming from the PS3 version.  Only gripe is the loading times in GTA:Online seem even longer now.

Anyone understand how to do jobs with your crew?  We are not to heists yet because we just started some online play.  We are in the same game together but could not get the same job / join the same job.  Do we both need to be at the job location at the same time?

the best way to get the same game/ and join the same job is to create your own game, and invite your friend

Pause > Online > Jobs

Pick whatever job you want, and send out invites to your friends.

I really enjoy the online, but the amount of menus that need to be sifted through can be quite a pain.

Usually me and my friends create a private server so we dont have to deal with other people. Then you can all just agree on a job, someone starts it either from the menu, the map, or by being there.  Then they send out invites to everyone.  They can either join through the friends menu or the invite text on their phone. Its pretty simple once you know how it works.

Also once you've started doing jobs together then instead of having to invite again it drops to the job browser where it gives you 5jobs+random to choose from so you dont have to through the invite again

So I'm debating if I should buy this game for Xbox 360, PS3, or PC (I don't own any versions yet). My PC is aging somewhat, Core i5 3570K, 8 GB DDR3, GTX 660Ti (2GB VRAM). I can put it on a SSD as long as it isn't over 50GB or so, not sure how much drive space it needs. What platform should I get it on?

Even with all settings turned all the way down, it still looks better than either the PS3 or 360 versions. That said, you shouldn't have to run everything on low with your specs. Sure, you wont max everything, but I'd imagine you could get away with very high textures and some other stuff on high.

Kind of a no-brainer to me.

Yeah I guess this rig is still a good bit more powerful than an Xbox 360 or PS3, so it makes sense to get it for PC. If I had a PS4 or Xbox One it might be a tougher decision, but I have neither. Thanks!

The game is over 50gb, so it won't fit on your SSD.

Also, your rig is still a lot better than a PS3 or 360. If you want a little better experience, just update your graphics card.

Even if you had an X1 or PS4, neither of those run at 60FPS, which your PC should be able to do. That's pretty huge honestly.

Adding Non-Steam GTA V fix...with overlay

If you are like me you acquired GTA V from someplace other then Steam. However, if you planned to use the Steam overlay by utilizing the non-steam game option you found out pretty quickly that it did not work. After days of searching for a solution I have figured it out. (Also before posting I searched Google but found no other solutions aside from people running as admin and not being able to use the overlay.)

You cannot add any of the .exe files to Steam. Simply create a desktop shortcut...link the shortcut to steam via the add non-steam game. Voila....it works, overlay and all. See the screen on the link. It is from my game, in big picture mode...using the RSSC version of the game.

I hope this helps others like myself. I feel like an idiot for not trying this before. I knew it had to work as the game would launch just fine from Raptr...but now I can assume raptr uses the shortcut to initiate the launch as well.

I just thought some here might care as well.

Anyone wanting to join or create a crew?  About done with Bloodborne and going to get into this more.  Have a friend who plays it a ton and we can use (at least) a couple of others.

I joined the CAGS back on the PS3 days, but only have seen one or two people from that crew around now. Transferred my level 30ish character over, but haven't really done much beyond ride my motorcycle and try not to get shot. Would be down for some fresh crew action.
