GameStop trade-in question

I wanted to take advantage of the 50% special that GameStop is having this week, so I went to the web site to get the trade-in value for some items using the search feature. When I went to the physical store I was offered a noticeably lower price for a few of my items. When I asked about it, they said that the prices on the web site are estimates only. Were they trying to rip me off, or were they actually telling the truth?

If you used the search feature, then you saw that it was an estimate for that day only and the estimate was only valid if you saved it. If not, there isn't much you can do since the price could have changed from when you saw it until you reached the store/traded in your game... unless you had a smartphone, pulled up the app and checked the price then and there.

Given the 50% bonus, it's likely that a lot of people are dumping their games now, which is resulting in drops in trade values.
