Capcom anounched Mega Man Legacy Collection and I wanted some CAG reaction to the news. If you don't know what it is it's a collection of the first 6 Mega Man titles from the NES. It's in 1080p, bonuses, museums with artwork, leaderboards, etc. Price Tag $14.99. Xbox One, PS4 & PC. NDS will get a digital download version.

Personally I'm not impressed. They had a much better collection for the PS2 (and I think Gamecube had it) it had 1-8 plus the 2 Power Battle arcade games. It had extras and remixed music for some levels. Plus advice tips from Roll during the pause menu and instant switching powers instead of having to go into the pause menu.

I'm sure this new collection will have a good deal of extra content but for me it just aint worth it. I guess the only reason I'd buy it is to show support for the franchise. If they made this a massive collection with all the Mega Man titles including X I'd gladly pay $40 for it.

Plus didn't they JUST release all these titles for the Wii VC?

Mega Man VI had a August 21 release date on the VC, so yeah not to long ago.  I don't understand how is it a legacy collection when it only the first 6 games.  By rights it should have volume through 10 of the main francise.  I get the feeling this was just a quick cobbled to together collection that's only purpose is to take a jab & syphon some quick cash from the Mighty 9 release.

If it was a phsyical release I might have considered getting it, even with how Capcom has treated the series, the fans, and their consumers.  But aren't all verisons of it digital download anyhow, so really what's the point of it.

It's hard to justify getting excited about it when this one has ten games (including the first eight Mega Man games):

Especially since that one plays so well on my 3ds

Being a huge Mega Man fan the news of this is bitter sweet. I would really be hyped if they were putting all the classic series on one collection. My dream collection would be Mega Man 1-10 with the Sega Saturn version of MM8, Super Famicom version of Mega Man and Bass, and the DLC for 9-10 on a physical disc. I would be glad to pay $40 for that. That's what I payed for Mega Man AC for PS2. And that's coming from someone who has these games many times over. Besides the AC I have the original carts of MM 1-6 for NES, MM2 for PSP/PS3, MM2,3,4 on my 3DS, and MM1-6 on my hacked Wii. On the other hand the first six games for $14.99 is a good deal. I'm sure I'll get it to play on my ps4 since its one of the few consoles I have that I don't have any Mega Man games on. It will also be cool to get the trophies and speedrun on the leader boards.

I never played a mega man in my life. If I really liked it I would just buy it on the vita. If I really really liked it I would buy it on ps2! Not Xbox one or ps4!

But doesn't the Anniversary Collection have muddled visuals and clunky controls?
Mega Man 1-6 were near perfect. Blame the systems pads for crippling controls over anything.

7 & 8 has a few hiccups like slowdown, some bosses not saying their lines. Nothing major.

I see the 2 Power Battle games as diversions. Not sure how they hold up against the Japan only arcade versions.

I have no issue with only 1-6 being released on this new collection.

The important thing to me is going to be the quality of the emulation and the various historical extras included in the collection. From the sound of it, they are intending to make this new collection archival-quality. If they actually manage to deliver on what they are promising, I'm okay with it. I like the idea of a Criterion-style release of the first six Mega Man games.

At this point I already have all of those games multiple times over. Just another bundle with a lot of titles shoved on it isn't enough to draw my eye. A bundle with the best possible emulation quality, lots of options for display, customize-able controls, and lots of historical extras is what I'm looking for.

Eh forget those ones I want the Legends games on the PSN. We got Tron Bonne Misadventures so bring those on!

No argument here. I already picked up Tron Bonne on PSN. It's on my short list of games to play next. I would very much like for them to release MML 1&2 on PSN. I actually already have both those games for the PS1, but I don't like pulling out discs that rare unless I have to.

The Mega Man Legends games are probably deserving of their own re-mastering archival collection. If this new Mega Man collection sells well enough, perhaps Capcom might actually be persuaded to give the green light for such a collection. (although we would probably see a Mega Man X collection first)

Wasn't there some technical reason they couldn't be emulated, kinda like Super FX SNES games on the Virtual Console?

I am trying to buy mega man one on PS3 but it won't let me buy it. Really weird. I hv never played the series and want to play all before mighty number nine.

Any feedback on this game? I'm thinking about getting it on 3DS next year.
It's an incredibly faithful port of Mega Man 1-6. The extras are actually quite nice, with a lot of in-production graphics. But the big take-away is that this collection is for the hardcore Mega Man fans who want the first six games maintained in a faithful collection. Everything, including the sprite slow-down, has been maintained. The various scaling features for the display are quite solid as well.

I'd recommend it for the Mega Man fans, and for anyone interested in classic game preservation.

Correct, I can't believe they are pulling this. Hopefully Sony will allow us to digitally buy all the mega man from ps2!

The best! I still have my ps2! I'm rebuking all the games I sold.

How's the 3DS version, any issues like slowdown and/or framerate?
The games look better than the old e-shop versions. The only issue I've heard about is something with MM5( can't remember what), but if you play Rock Man 5 there isn't an issue. You can choose MegaMan or RockMan mode in the options.
