Best game announcement of e3 for me.

Never thought I'd be able to play classic N64 titles like Jet Force Gemini or Conker on a current gen console. Hopefully the ports are of the same quality as Banjo Kazooie HD.  I'd buy this for JFG alone. $30 is a no brainer.

I'm sure some of the other titles have people excited (Battletoads, Killer Instinct), I myself am most interested for the N64 titles I grew up with (some I never actually finished).

Here's a list of the games (30):

Jetpac (1983)
Atic Atac (1983)
Lunar Jetman (1983)
Sabre Wulf (1984)
Underwurlde (1984)
Knight Lore (1984)
Gunfright (1986)
Slalom (1987)
R.C. Pro-Am (1988)
Cobra Triangle (1989)
Snake Rattle N Roll (1990)
Digger T. Rock (1990)
Solar Jetman (1990)
Battletoads (1991)
R.C. Pro-Am II (1992)
Battletoads Arcade (1994)
Killer Instinct Gold (1996)
Blast Corps (1997)
Banjo-Kazooie (1998)
Jet Force Gemini (1999)
Perfect Dark (2000)
Banjo-Tooie (2000)
Conker's Bad Fur Day (2001)
Grabbed by the Ghoulies (2003)
Perfect Dark Zero (2005)
Kameo: Elements of Power (2005)
Viva Piñata (2006)
Jetpac Refuelled (2007)
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (2008)
Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise (2008)

RC Pro AM and Conker's Bad Fur Day, all day. Never heard of any of the spectrum games so will try those out, plus I can finally try my hand at Battletoads. Never had that game as a kid.

Conker may have been my favorite non-Nintendo-developed N64 game. Also love JFG. I like half the games on this and am interested in trying the other half. Already preordered at Best Buy with GCU.

Very excited for this collection. One of the best compilation discs I have ever seen and the price is insanely good at $30. Excited to play many of the games in this collection again, namely Battletoads, Blast Corps, Conker, RC Pro A.M., and Snake Rattle 'N' Roll (still have a boxed copy of this NES gem).  I was however hoping to get a new Battletoads game, never say never I suppose....

So I pre-ordered this last night, after I ordered the 1TB bundle. This is the game that got me interested in getting an Xbox One in the first place. Of all the things, it was a compilation that got me interested in the console.

I'll likely play one of the N64 games first. I'm not really tackle Battletoads yet. LOL! It'll either be Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, or Conker's Bad Fur Day. I never played any of them, although a few months ago, I bought a bunch of N64 games for $60, & Banjo-Kazooie was one of them.

Preordered.

Giant Bombcast brought up an awesome question this week:

Will you still have to collect N - I - N - T - E - N - D - O in RC Pro-Am?

If there is an achievement in Battletoads that requires you to get past level 3, then dear lord help us all, lol.

I am so excited for this. It's a hell of a value plus I can finally play Kameo, Jet Force Gemini, BK: Nuts and Bolts, and Viva Pinata. The rest of the games are gravy.

Not enough letters!

MICROSFT?

I'd actually be really impressed if they just left it as is. Why not? It's not really hurting anything and a lot of people would probably love it. Only thing I'd be concerned about is Nintendo getting pissed about it, they seem to be weirdly litigious about random stuff.

Unless there's a legal reason, If it were my company, I'd just leave it. Less work for the company. They won't lose any money by leaving it, & I don't think they can be sued, because it's just letters, not a registered logo.

I didn't think of this until listening to the Bombcast either. I am pretty positive that this will change though, Nintendo would be all over this if they didn't change it. My guess is they will just make it Microsoft or something related to either Rare or Xbox. I don't think the number of letters would be a big deal if they are going to have to change it anyway.

Some of the achievements were posted earlier on True Achievements. I don't believe this is the whole list. While no achievement for getting past level 3, check out the last listed achievement.

http://www.trueachievements.com/Rare-Replay/achievements.htm
There is one for completing every level. Unless they have infinite lives or level select, this achievement is going to be goddamn hell.

I love the game but fuck it is balls hard.

Only problem with that article is that the numbers don't add up.

Banjo-Kazooie (200 Gamerscore)

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (1k + 250 DLC)

Banjo-Tooie (200)

Jetpac Refuelled (200)

Kameo: Elements of Power (1k + 3 packs of DLC worth 0)
Perfect Dark (200)
Perfect Dark Zero (1k)
Viva Piñata (1k)
Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise (1k)

The DLC is a bit of a wildcard, but let's say those are included as well. If so, everything totals up to 6,050, not 7,220 as Polygon claims. With the Rare Replay achievement list being revealed as 2,780, that brings the total for everything to 8,830. That leaves 1,170 presently unaccounted for.

I think Polygon, in their typical shoddy journalism, just subtracted the total on TA from 10,000 and didn't actually add up the 360 GS.

Mmmm, yes. This collection has me seriously considering picking up an XBox One. Rare has a long and impressive history in the industry. A collection like this is fantastic. It's a murderer's row of some of their best titles across the past thirty years. Even more obscure titles like Cobra Triangle and Snake Rattle 'n Roll are showing up!

I'm personally hoping that we see a lot of additional content with this collection. As a fan of video game history, I would love to see a lot of museum-style content with articles and interviews and the like. I'm also going to be curious to see if they include some of the alternate versions of select games. Most notably, Conker's Bad Fur Day got a re-release on the XBox. Wouldn't hurt to see that version show up alongside the N64 edition.

I don't know if it have been reported yet but the offical release date is 8/4/15. A lot sooner than expected.

I with you there. I ended up getting an Xbox One last week, but as I wrote before, the E3 announcement was what got me interested in the Xbox One. 30 games for $29.99 is the right retail price. Not to mention, they already released already released arcade ports of Killer Instinct 1 & 2. Granted, you'd have to buy the KI: Complete Edition bundle, but option is there for those who want to play both the old, & new game. Come 8/4, there will be 32 Rare games playable on Xbox One. This is a release that the sales are going to be important. If this sell enough (retail + digital), we may see more games released. Those could be digital only if they want, to save them some expenses.

I don't expect Conker: Live and Reloaded to be added on at this time, if ever. It's an Xbox game, & there's no Xbox BC at this time. They said there's no plans, but it's technically feasible. I guess they can figure out a way to release it digitally, but I don't see the point, when we're going to get the original. I don't think there will be a big demand for it, & at least a majority of fans prefer the original.

Not so. "Grabbed by the Ghoulies" is going to be one of the games featured in this Rare collection. And "Grabbed by the Ghoulies" was originally an XBox exclusive. If they can include that game in the collection, there's no reason they can't do the same for Conker: Live and Reloaded. I'm not saying they will. But it is certainly within their power to do so.

Upon reading what you wrote, & then going back to what I wrote, I realized that what I wrote wasn't correct in this case. I didn't know Grabbed by the Ghoulies was an Xbox game. I never owned an Xbox, & the only Xbox game released by Rare that I knew of was Conker: Live & Reloaded. I also failed to take into account that Rare Replay is recognized by the console as an Xbox One game, thus any game within Rare Replay will run. Upon this realization, Conker: Live & Reloaded can run as a DLC add-on game.

Normally I wait for price drops or a complete edition, but I feel this is a release, that if one is planning on buying it, they should buy it release week/month. The reason being that if enough people buy it within the first week/month, it sends a message to Rare, & Microsoft, that people are supporting it, & gives them an incentive to release add-on games as DLC, or even a 2nd collection. Assuming nothing is broken within the game come release time.

Thanks Frosty, I just pulled the trigger with that link. I was contemplating getting it digital, since I can't ever see myself not wanting to play this collection, but that deal works for me. :p

Yeah I'm a Live Rewards member. I talked with Microsoftstore's support via chat and they said,  "As long as your Microsoft account is associated with your Xbox live account, it should give you the points." So it doesn't matter which link as long as you've got your info all synced up.

Nintendo World Report has put up 10 minutes gameplay footage of Rare Replay from E3 a month ago. it's actually a recording of the TV that had the game running, but it's very clear, & completely stable. You get to see the 360 BC in action. It's in 1080p/60fps.

Less than 3 weeks (19 days) away.

I pre-ordered this the same night I bought my Xbox One a few weeks ago. I usually never pre-order games, but I couldn't pass up the Xbox Rewards offer.

I'm excited for it. I will probably be ordering it at a later time, but it's a game I will be getting eventually.

News hit earlier today, that a full install will be 50 GB. Furthermore, Rare Replay itself will only be 11.26 GB. The console will then automatically queue up 38 GB of 360 games, each of them listed as its own game, instead of being 1 complete package. I'm disappointed it's not 1 complete package. For those that don't want/need to install every 360 game, this give them the option of picking, & choosing games to install.

http://www.gamesradar.com/rare-replay-installation-comes-cool-50gb/

Edit - Despite the 360 games downloaded separately, when you launch Rare Replay, all 30 games are listed.

It's here! So stoked to get off work and pick my copy up tonight! I will be in nostalgia retro heaven tonight between this and Galak-Z.

I love it! 0icked it up a little after 1am and have been playing it since. Such a great deal and luckily I never bought any of the 360 games. I believe total download (not counting updates) was 45.8gb

I think Perfect Dark (original) is the only 360 game I have in this set thankfully. Excited to get home and check this out.

I am so happy that I have an external drive on XBone. I think Battletoads will be the first game I jump into, it's been awhile since I have popped in my copy for the NES, so I am prepared to die a lot.

The original Perfect Dark was an N64 game. Perfect Dark Zero was a 360 title.

It sounds like the emulation for the N64 games in this collection render them in high-definition with anti-aliasing, which is welcome.
