Cheapy, as someone who did radio for years and loved throwing out curveballs, I always appreciate your intro music selections. This week was pretty damn hilarious, I must say.
You guys have hit the nail on the head about PC gaming though, at least for me anyway. I'm almost 40 and I do IT for a living. The last thing I want to do during the limited amount of time I have available for gaming is mess around with drivers and hardware conflicts and tweaking settings and all that shit when I'm off the clock and trying to play a game. I just don't have the patience for it anymore, nor do I have the time. It doesn't help either that I am an Apple guy (though I keep up with enough Windows stuff for work) and I know I can Boot Camp and all that, but I'm either at the mercy of that working or I'd have to buy an entirely separate computer just for gaming. Either way, no thanks. Hell, I just barely upgraded to a PS4 and my reluctance was partially because I don't have the time or patience for patches and all the download crap associated with modern games. Sigh. It may be time to really work on my RGB/retrogaming setup and be done with it.
Sidenote: I work with a PC gamer and all he ever talks about is his "gaming rig" but never what he's actually using it for. I know all the specs inside and out (anytime a fellow gamer approaches, he is compelled to compare e-peni) but I couldn't name a singe game this guy plays. Is this normal among PC gamers? Just made me think of the comments you all were making about getting the game to work is part of the game. Maybe I've been a console guy/Mac guy too long because I just don't care.
And re:Nintendo, at the risk of sounding, well, however, I've always felt Nintendo's attitude towards the US, which has been there since the days of Donkey Kong, is as much a product of cultural arrogance or pride or whatever you want to say as anything. I think if you read the history of Nintendo, their attitude towards the west has always been one of "you are lucky we are consenting to allow you to play our games" even though the market here is so much larger and making them so much more money. Of course, they've given Europe the even shorter shrift, but that's a different story. Getting a Westerner in there, would never happen and, even if they did, that person would have the most uphill battle of all time to get anywhere. I've long been convinced they'd rather go bankrupt than do things anyway other than their way out of pride. Reggie I've always thought was pretty much a figurehead. I'm sure he does things, but I'd be surprised if he had any actual influence on much of anything.
(And the abusive boyfriend thing...yeah, you're gonna get some comments about that. Currently dating someone who is still sorting out the effects of having been with an abusive boyfriend and I can't imagine what she's going through. I get the point you were trying to make but, that was a little off the mark, IMHO.)
