Wombat seemed a little more.. energetic.. than usual this week. I'm hoping it was excitement over the dangerous block-party fireworks show and the 3-day weekend, and not a cocaine binge.

The part about Nintendo being an 'abusive boyfriend' was a bit ... poorly expressed.

Cheapy, as someone who did radio for years and loved throwing out curveballs, I always appreciate your intro music selections. This week was pretty damn hilarious, I must say.

You guys have hit the nail on the head about PC gaming though, at least for me anyway. I'm almost 40 and I do IT for a living. The last thing I want to do during the limited amount of time I have available for gaming is mess around with drivers and hardware conflicts and tweaking settings and all that shit when I'm off the clock and trying to play a game. I just don't have the patience for it anymore, nor do I have the time. It doesn't help either that I am an Apple guy (though I keep up with enough Windows stuff for work) and I know I can Boot Camp and all that, but I'm either at the mercy of that working or I'd have to buy an entirely separate computer just for gaming. Either way, no thanks. Hell, I just barely upgraded to a PS4 and my reluctance was partially because I don't have the time or patience for patches and all the download crap associated with modern games. Sigh. It may be time to really work on my RGB/retrogaming setup and be done with it.

Sidenote: I work with a PC gamer and all he ever talks about is his "gaming rig" but never what he's actually using it for. I know all the specs inside and out (anytime a fellow gamer approaches, he is compelled to compare e-peni) but I couldn't name a singe game this guy plays. Is this normal among PC gamers? Just made me think of the comments you all were making about getting the game to work is part of the game. Maybe I've been a console guy/Mac guy too long because I just don't care.

And re:Nintendo, at the risk of sounding, well, however, I've always felt Nintendo's attitude towards the US, which has been there since the days of Donkey Kong, is as much a product of cultural arrogance or pride or whatever you want to say as anything. I think if you read the history of Nintendo, their attitude towards the west has always been one of "you are lucky we are consenting to allow you to play our games" even though the market here is so much larger and making them so much more money. Of course, they've given Europe the even shorter shrift, but that's a different story. Getting a Westerner in there, would never happen and, even if they did, that person would have the most uphill battle of all time to get anywhere. I've long been convinced they'd rather go bankrupt than do things anyway other than their way out of pride. Reggie I've always thought was pretty much a figurehead. I'm sure he does things, but I'd be surprised if he had any actual influence on much of anything.

(And the abusive boyfriend thing...yeah, you're gonna get some comments about that. Currently dating someone who is still sorting out the effects of having been with an abusive boyfriend and I can't imagine what she's going through. I get the point you were trying to make but, that was a little off the mark, IMHO.)

A couple PS4 games like Last of Us Remastered & Infamous Second Son let you change the frame rate. I really wouldn't focus on visually learning frame rates unless you need to because it's better to be a idiot on the subject. You'll end up nitpicking frame rates instead of just enjoying the game.

Also didn't Cheapy win a charity auction or something so he could get into Saints Row 3? That's kind of like the kickstarter thing, except the money went to help people.

No one wants to hear you make weekend plans, do that shit off air. Two elderly jewish men complaining about shit that directly involves money and a dude who sounds like he just can't wait for this show to end. Sounds about right, keep up the good work!

"Is your nose bleeding now?" Lol.

You guys really should listen to that podcast with Moore, Spencer, and Blackley. It's really interesting. Regarding the RROD, Moore says that he wasn't aware that they every really figured out what was causing the problems, but the die change basically sidestepped the issue. He speculated that it could have been a different type of solder that was used to comply with European regulations.

Other interesting parts were the origin of the Duke controller, the origin of Xbox's green color brand, and Moore making an offhand comment that he thinks there was industrial espionage going on with the original Xbox and the Thompson drives scratching discs.

Or...you could just stop listening to the podcast.

Nintendo should've packed this controller into each Wii U instead of forcing us to pay the $45 for it.

Hearing about how Nintendo is run reminds me of what Sega was like in the 1990s when they failed with the 32x and Saturn. Relationships between both sides were frosty at best, and the consumers lost because of it.

Gamestop does own a video games publisher UFO, which was prolific enough like in 2008 or so with Raiden IV.

Nintendo operates like my job.  Bad ideas go straight to the top unopposed.  Great ideas have to fight to get implemented.

You have to criticize Nintendo every chance you get, until they do better.  I need a little less "innovation" from Nintendo, and a lot more "back to basics."

Great show guys.

Random comments:

1) I'm mostly indifferent to fireworks like Cheapy, but then I moved to a neighborhood where the city does their show a half block away.  So my backyard was just about the best seat you could get, but you didn't have to get there at 10am to get it.

Being that close and convenient to a good fireworks show makes a world of difference.  Hope you stuck around for them Cheapy.  :)

2) If Nintendo has a TRUE Zelda and Metroid game ready at the launch of whatever they call the NX they can reverse their fortunes almost immediately.

They'll never get that casual audience again like they did for the Wii, that was lightning in a bottle.  But a new console that trades the stupid padlet controller for more horsepower, a 300 dollar price point and two must have games?

They would sell as many as they could make for the holiday season it was available, and once you have those people on the hook for the console, they'll buy more games after that too.

3) Morpheus needs to be around 150-200 to move my needle, but more importantly it needs to come with a must have game that shows me it's worth the money.  Not "oh this thing is coming", it has to be there day 1.

4) I get closer and closer each year to thinking I'll start doing the PC thing.  But then another catastrophe like Batman:AK reminds me why I don't.  Ultimately I'm glad for it, I think.  The never ending arms race of new graphic cards, RAM, monitor and controllers is just too much imo.

Until Wombat mentioned it, yeah, why didn't Xbox have their big sale during the 4th of July weekend? All I've been doing is playing games during the day and going out at night.

I think if Project Morpheus was under $200 and came with No Man's Sky it'd be the new Kinect 1.

The VR experience really lends itself to this type of exploration game.  Also in the space combat keeping track of enemies whizzing past your cockpit with just head motion would be invaluable.

I also know that's not really something Sony would do.

VR will probably sell to folks worse than Shipwreck. Game companies are going to trick gamers into thinking the best games with the best graphics are going to be on exceedingly expensive setups, like CheapyD's. It's the only way to play Call of Duty Modernist Conquest.

I am totally in Wombat's camp about Kickstarter. Buying something that isn't a certain, concrete existing product is a giant waste of money in my eyes. The only situation in which I would even consider backing a Kickstarter is if I could spend something like $5 and get a guaranteed copy of the game when it's released and it would be a normal priced game on release. And even then I would have to 100% be interested in the product. (I have yet to see a Kickstarter that interests me.)

It was amusing when Shipwreck kind of shitted on the Newegg promo with talking about the Amazon Echo. He knew it would be bad and even warned Cheapy, but it still happened.

I'm no expert on the 360's history since I technically never even owned one, but I'm relatively sure they "solved" the RROD before the Slim model. They silently released a model named the Jasper model that was used primarily in that Arcade bundle (the one that didn't have a hard drive). It looked identical to the original 360 but the RROD rate was dramatically reduced.

I could be wrong on this, but I remember reading about all that at some point.

How soon you forget about the New 3ds in the United States. . .

Japan: "Do you want the New 3ds?!?"

US: "YES"

Japan: "We'll Only Sell You the Big Expensive One!"

US: "Uh. . . OK"

Japan: "Would You like a power adapter?"

US" "OF COURSE!"

Japan: "TOO BAD!"

Interesting that Cheapy didn't want to name the hotel that is near his building because he doesn't want people to figure out where he lives yet posts pictures on Instagram in the past that pinpoints exactly where he lives if you know where to look.

Also has Wombat ever been employed to polish the inside of shell casings with his diminutive child-like hands?

Is it possible for Batman to be Dire, Gloomy, Dreary, Sad, Harsh, Dismal, Misreable, Drab, Bleak, or does it ALWAYS HAVE TO BE DARK?

I don't think VR is going to be marketed to "normal people," at least not at first.
The key is to find away to make it easy for these "normal people" to check it out in a store. Once they are able to try out VR themselves it'll sell to the "normal people" just fine.

Regarding the Xbox One Sale this week, I noticed several stores(example Half Price Books) that used to have big 4th of July sales have moved their sales to this weekend. Even Amazon is having their biggest sale of the year July 15th. The last one might be an anniversary sale, but there must be some metric these companies are using to push their sales. I agree that the 4th would have been a good weekend for those gamers left behind from camping trips and social events though.

Oh man normally ihate everything wombat says but he's talking shit about Nintendo! I mean all of you are.  Nintendo is a pos I loved this episode

These past two weeks, cheapy has said that it was fine he bought batman of a gray market site because the game was busted at launch, but isn't that like saying you won't feel bad stealing something if the product does not work properly? I'm not saying buying a game off cdkeys.com or whatever site is illeagel, but its still in a gray area.

I agree with Wombat regarding shaved head Robin. Instantly changed it to the new 52 skin as soon as possible. Still not great, but it actually looks like Robin.
