Any reason to wait to buy a PS4?

CAGiversary!
Been considering picking up a PS4, is there any reason to hold off for the time being? I've heard about a new model coming out, but I've got over $300 in GameStop trade credit that I'd like to use sooner rather than later. Unless there's a better bundle coming out shortly I was thinking of getting an Arkham Knight bundle, should I wait?

Do you buy a lot of games digital / are you too lazy to switch internal hard drives to obtain more storage? The one terabyte model is coming soon. It's not like your gamestop credit is going to expire or anything. On the other hand, the Arkham knight bundle is a solid deal, especially if you will be primarily financing it with GameStop credit. There aren't any other announced major bundles coming soon, but a better deal will always roll along. If you really are interested in arkham knight I would say go ahead nevertheless.

You can't look at it as a better deal coming up. There is always a better deal in the future. Question is when do you decide that you no longer care. The ps4 will get cheaper as will whatever game you are looking at. Especially batman.

It all comes down to when the credit has burnt a big enough hole in your pocket that it comes flying out.

One thing I agree with the poster above us about the larger hdd. 500gb fills up fast. The 1tb model would help on that regards. But don't let that seay you to much. You can get a good amount of games on it to play at any one time.

If your on the fence too much, wait till you get the whole price in credit. Give yourself a cut off date. Say 1 month. Try to get some more credit and then buy the best available.

I don't think I'd have issues with the 500gb hdd being too small, I got by for almost 7 years with a 20gb hdd xb360. I'm just tired of sitting on the trade credit, got it from the 50% bonus a couple of months back. It just seems like GameStop never has deals on bundles, even something like an extra controller or bonus game would get me to bite, I'm just afraid I'll have to wait until Black Friday for that. I'm very seriously looking at that Arkham bundle...

Here's one more thing to consider, which might sweeten the pot if you're 50/50 for buying it now versus later.  Do you already have PS+ for PS3 or PS Vita?

If not, you stand to gain something by buying sooner rather than later: more free PS+ games.  The sooner you activate your PS+ membership, which I'm assuming you'll be starting when you buy your PS4, the sooner you can start activating free PS+ games for your account.  If you wait until November, you'll be missing out on the free offerings for the four months before then.  Note that tomorrow is the last day to get in on July's free games, as the new ones will get swapped in sometime on Tuesday.

If you already have PS+, you probably already know that you can redeem the freebies even without a PS4 so that they're available when you do buy one.  I did that with both PS4 and PS Vita.  Nothing like having a bunch of free games as soon as you buy a new console.

I was on the fence as well. Had enough credit to pay for a ps4 and I don't regret it one bit. I was thinking to myself that maybe I would wait until a newer bundle came out, or heck even waiting til black Friday, but I figured I may as well get one now as I won't have as much time later on to play games.

The Batman bundle is a great value and I wouldn't doubt it if you were able to trade the game in for at least $30-$35 when you finish it.

Yeah, I thought of that, Arkham Knight is currently $38.50 PUR tiv. I usually keep the Arkham games, but more than likely this one will drop in price eventually and I can pick it up agin when it's cheap if I trade it off.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm going to be near a GameStop today, just might wander in there and take a look at the Arkham bundle.

Just remember a lot of games are 40+ gbs and they have to be fully installed in order to play them no matter if you have the disc. With mine I have around 6/7 games is all before it gets full. And the updates will add a few gbs to games as well.

PS4 Slim is going to be released in Japan so I figure waiting for a slim model in the west is the best option since the phat model will drop in price.

Not quite true. Sony freely allows you to DL stuff even if you have the console. I've been DLing PS4 PS+ games since it was released, so I could buy a console right now and have quite a number of games already.

Of course this provides one has PS+ already.

Seems you misread my post, because that was my point.
