Quantum Break - Xbox One Exclusive - April 5, 2016

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/quantum-break

This is the next masterpiece from Remedy, following their hit Alan Wake.  Some people are theorizing that QB is in the same universe as AW and there is some evidence to support that theory.  More on that later.  For now, here is basic info on the game and the cast:

Coming to Xbox One on April 5, 2016, Remedy Entertainment’s Quantum Break is part hard-hitting video game, part thrilling in-game live-action show. Your in-game choices will affect the outcome of the fast-paced fusion between game and show, illustrating one story perceived in many ways for a completely unique entertainment experience. Play the game to understand the heroes... and watch the in-game show to discern the villains. You’ll navigate epic scenes of destruction, experience time-amplified gameplay, and marvel at a top-quality show that is directly impacted by what you do.

During the Xbox gamescom 2015 Briefing, fans were treated to a closer look at the time-altering, mind-bending effects that players can use during combat to get the drop on enemies. Take a closer look in the video above!

Also announced today,
Quantum Break stars a stellar cast of talented actors, including:

Shawn Ashmore (“X-Men: Days of Future Past”) as Jack Joyce

Looks to have more Max Payne than it does Alan Wake.  But still a Day One purchase for me.

I actually prefer the original character model over the new digitalized actor model but I can understand why they did it with the show that is also suppose to be run in parallel.

Couple things I saw on the release, per Remedy...this is pretty rad, they not only give you Alan Wake if you buy it, but if you preorder you also get Alan Wake American Nightmare, AND it's CROSS BUY WITH PC. Hopefully this is the start of a trend for PC/X1 games.

Every Xbox One copy of Quantum Break will come with a full-game download for Alan Wake for Xbox 360, plus its two add-on packs, The Signal and The Writer, playable on Xbox One via Backward Compatibility.

Every Xbox One Quantum Break pre-order made through the Xbox Store or participating retailers will get you a download code for the Windows 10 version of Quantum Break and Xbox One backwards compatible version of Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

You can also get Quantum Break branded SteelBook cover for your copy of the game by pre-ordering Quantum Break from participating retailers.

A new Xbox One Special Edition Quantum Break Bundle featuring a 500GB Cirrus White console and matching wireless controller, a full-game download of Quantum Break and a full-game download of Alan Wake accompanied by The Signal and The Writer add-on packs is offered worldwide starting March 29th, 2016 in most regions where Xbox One is available.

This is my most anticipated out of all 3 consoles. I can't wait. Was hoping to see a limited edition box like Alan Wake tho...that one was awesome

I'm excited about everything announced yesterday, but I was really hoping for a Collectors Edition.  I'll have to go with Gamestop for the exclusive steelbook, as that's the only extra announced at any retailers.  Sucks, because you can get 20% off at best buy or amazon, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

The console looks slick, too. Notice it has the Remedy logo on the top left of the unit.  Nope, I done been corrected.  8-[

has anyone tried placing an online order and bringing the order confirmation to their store to see if they have the steelbooks yet?

the way the promotion is worded on the quantum break product page might indicate that online orders could get their steelbook before in store orders.

It would be awesome if the game wasn't in the steelbook and it was a pack-in/add-in for shipped orders and handed out at time of pickup.  Easier to dump the game if you don't like it.

My assumption is that this was an extra bonus and the game would still come in the regular retail case.

anyone preordering the digital version to get access to the PC version as well? Wondering if the PC version will have it's own set of achievements or if they are shared across like Killer Instinct?

Holy cow!  I just finished the first act/episode tonight and wow, it's great.  Remedy has perfected the art of interactive storytelling.  The game plays damn good, too.  This isn't just a telltale style interactive story, it's a fun shooter with great abilities that make encounters engaging and entertaining.

Great game!

I beat the game and enjoyed it, but man the ending was a bit of a head scratcher.

WTF Hatch?  So strange.  The TV episodes are cool, but disappointing act 5 didn't have one to tie up loose ends or give a proper ending to the characters in the show.

Anybody else hate that Charlie character in the show? Ugh where did they find this actor? College film school? Anyways the show is really great. I was worried it would be too much action focused in a medium that was out of your control (why show something when you could let us play it?) but it tends to focus on side characters rather than the main character so it just helps flesh out the stories more. Great concept.

Really loving this game. Not sure how it would fare in the first couple acts, since the story seemed a bit on the goofy side. But once it goes deeper, it becomes really enjoyable. I don't love that there's so much reading and explaining through collectibles though. That just seems like an easy way for people to miss a lot and complain that the game was "too short".

If you only read a couple things in the game though, for the love of God, please read the two screenplays (first is in a trailer outside the dry docks in Act 2...and the second one is in one of the cubicles...I think, later in the game). Those really don't relate to the story, but they are comedy gold. Just great intentionally bad writing.

And the major thing everybody needs to read is Beth's notebook. I don't want to say where that is because I don't want to spoil anything, but it probably isn't one you'll miss finding. But it basically explains everything that is happening. Not reading that would be a shame.

I'm in Act 5 now, so not quite done. But the story totally has me hooked. I was worried the game wouldn't live up to the years of hype behind it. But Remedy did an amazing job once again.
