Giving away free games to people who like my facebook gaming store. Will be posting games throughout the week. You must like the page and comment on the game photo you want. At some point I will drop something good. Not madden 10 which is what i have up now.

here is the link:   https://www.facebook.com/Barnettsgamesgalore?fref=photo

In 2012 I was diagnosed with young onset parkinsons disease at 25. I started selling on ebay and amazon because I knew at some point the disease would start to take over and Id have to change jobs.

Because of my recent success on Ebay and more specifically Amazon I have decided to purchase my own web store. The advantages to this is I can buy in bulk from distributors, Im also buying bulk iphone cases such as mario, batman ect, pokemon cards. I can sell my merchandise cheaper than most retailers ( thats how you ''succeed'').Disadvantages are: the site requires a ton of work, nobody knows who I am, I have thousands of products to add and my current site design is mediocre. Here is the site in its newborn state:http://barnettsgamesgalore.com/

Your criticism is WELCOME. Currently I have about 100 games on there compared to the 500+ on my other stores. So Im looking for input, especially on design.Obviously this is important to me as my health has deteriorated, any opinions welcome.

thank you

Criticism.  Your photos suck - they need to be more clear, less blurry.  Your game titles suck.  What's with the random exclamation points and other random characters.  Makes your site seem like it sells knock off / bootleg products.  Your site in general sucks.  Its boring to look at.  Plus the "blog" section is just a template for what you could put there.  Did you even look at it?  Finally, your prices don't seem to be that great.  Maybe they are, but nothing stands out as a great deal.  Sorry about your personal problems, but you asked for criticism.  Also, wrong forum, etc, etc

Moderator moved to shopping discussion, thanks for the criticsm. I will make the recommended adjustments. I just opened the site and i know it sucks >_<

I personally don't think your business is large enough to have it's own web store, since your ebay profile only has 687 feedback(only 15 in the past month) so you are obviously not making enough sales. That is either due to a lack of inventory or prices being to high. For a person to buy on a gaming site they have never heard of, they need to see good prices and a wide selection of quality titles.

I'd recommend making your banner photos the same size. On my iPhone, the whole page moves up and down every few seconds because of the different sizes. That's my two cents.

My criticism is all about the items are titled. If I'm buying an item, I shouldn't need to be concerned that it works or not. When some of the items say "works, play tested," and others don't, it makes people wonder about those. Titles should just have their name and platform, any other details you want to include should be on the product page. Just my opinion.

Why do you need your own site instead of eBay? I feel like eBay is the go to for buying used games or almost anything (that or Amazon). Guys like Pedro's live off eBay (always wondered how his group of people get so much stuff - must be so many diggers/searchers out there for that name). I just think that you will have trouble getting people to leave the security and safety of eBay to buy a used copy of Mario Bros 2 from you.

My goal is to beat the average price on ebay. I stopped selling on ebay and have most of my items on amazon. I have roughly 1500 games not listed. Inventory won't be an issue.

I need to bulk import items. Gaming prices fluctuate so my copy of melee at 55 bucks right now may beat the average price now but tomorrow could be different.

I do appreciate your guys input and will work on the suggestions. I have been selling over 300 games per month on amazon. Hoping to transfer that over

I'm sorry to say but you seem to be confusing your success selling on famous websites that allow third party sellers as having potential for making your own store. You're using Amazon/eBay's name value. People go there because it's famous, and will be taken care of by a relatively reputable customer service system in case there is an issue. They're not buying from there because you're everyone's favorite seller. They go to those websites and you may happen to have the lowest price. Getting people to go to a random unknown website instead of Amazon or eBay is a whole different story. I hope you succeed but it seems as if you're overestimating your future success based on a completely different situation from the past.

Well supposedly the web store was a requirement to buy wholesale from a distributor.

Like the brick and mortar dream and requirement in the Magic: the Gathering world.

Personally, here's how my experience went for me. I clicked the link, let the page load, went to SNES games, and then clicked away.

Maybe I didn't believe the pricing was good, but my brain and CAG conditioning also told me to just stop looking at that point because I'm trying to save money not spend it.

Also, my psuedo-OCD nature also sensed some sort of inconsistency in VG names and/or lack of search options.

Still I suppose it's be worth a second look, and very cool that you've made it this far in the business on your own. I don't know amazon or eBay rules, but it might be possible to draw traffic from your seller pages to your site from there.

Unfortunately I specialize in spending and wasting money and not running a business.

Like others have said, though, maybe a website isn't the most profitable means to go. Obviously a business change is sometimes an investment, but Im interested in your eBay/PayPal fees versus your web hosting fees and wholesale savings.

I think, again using Magic as a reference or comparison product, the most successful CCG or hobby shops also operate a webpage, and even those with their own domains still likely have products also hosted on other sites, too.

What I mean to say is that those businesses have sites to expand their business, but don't generally start online and move to brick+mortar.

I'm not sure what is most correct, just know that I also have delusions of having a 24hour CCG and video gaming hobby fusion shop with a liquor license, and I secretly am wanting this for you too, which is probably not realistic in your current situation.

So good luck.

I do plan to buy bulk magic and yugioh cards and have my first shipment on the way of pokemon cards. good feedback though. On another note im getting killed in here ( which is fine ) is there anything you guys like about the store?

I will be : adding products, changing image sizes, dropping prices, changing titles. Also I dont expect to have huge success immediately it could take awhile. I have had 500+ visitors in my first week which is very good.

Liked & left a message on your wall under the account "A Little Piece Of Heaven".

would you be willing to mentor me or give me info/advice as far as getting a distributor and stuff? I'm trying to make my new business successful & keep it from falling. Thanks bro!

Of course, all you have to do is get a business license from the state your in. Then apply to a distributor. Message me with questions.

My condolences for what you're going through.

If I were you, I wouldn't stop selling on Ebay and Amazon until you've established your site gotten it to a place where you're happy with it.

Your site needs tons of work. At the moment, it looks extremely unprofessional and unfinished. You also need to establish what your site has to offer. Give people reasons to frequent it. If your prices are only slightly under Ebay, no one is going to care.

Fill your site with inventory, make it consistent and professional looking, offer benefits that are unique to your business THEN advertise. At the moment, your site is just like browsing a sloppy and less user-friendly Ebay store.

I think I'll just shut down my store for now after getting the feedback. Or just pause it for a bit until it's more operational. Thanks guys

I still wonder if you are making so many sales on amazon and ebay why do you want to break off from that? You're potential customers will drop so much.

If you want to keep buying in bulk can you just keep your webstore open, but not use it? That way it technically is open so you can buy in bulk from distributors.

IMO a small brick and mortar combined with an online ebay/amazon may be the best. That way you can get locals and get the trade-in's from them and still do the bulk of selling online if necessary.

Good luck!

Thank you but I cant sell my products from gts distribution on a third party site. Which sucks. Definitely thinking of a brick and mortar store.
