Amazon.ca shipping

Just wanted to ask anyone out there who pre-orders games from amazon how fast the shipping usually is.

I used to pre-order from future shop and was pretty happy how quickly I received the games with free shipping. Not sure what to expect with Amazon.ca. From looking at the order info it looks like it may take awhile.

I received my first item (assuming you're talking about the E3 deal) on release day... and nothing since. The rest of my order has been lumped into one single shipment shipping at the end of the year, apparently.

I'm currently fighting with moronic CSR's about it now, who are saying that my order has been separated into multiple shipments again, though when I log in to my account that's not what I'm seeing. Will update when I get somewhere...

Your other items all have a placeholder date of December 31, 2015. The automated shipping system assumes they will ship on that date, and since they're all shipping on the same date, they'll ship in the same shipment. As release dates are added to the products' info, the shipping system will update with new shipments and ship dates.

saad77, I find that Amazon's free shipping takes 2-5 business days. It tends, for me, to take less time when it's a brand-new product (ie. pre-order), as they'll occasionally upgrade the shipping to a faster method with Canada Post (though you won't know this until it arrives at your door).

Yeah, I went with the E3 deal and had the same experience with their CS. I noticed the ship date for a game releasing today was Friday and contacted cs. They said they changed all my orders to multiple shipments, when on my end it only shows one order with that.

I'm waiting to see if it ships today, if not I'll contact CS again.

I guess I'm just spoiled by the shipping from FS.

*edit* For most of the games I have preordered it shows a shipping date for the Friday instead of the Tuesday release. What would the reason for that be?

I realize that, but that's actually not what's going on with my order. I had a few items with placeholder dates, but most had proper shipping windows. At some point in the past couple weeks these all got switched to a single order, shipping in December. I can't do anything to change it and have been getting the run around from the CSR people. Will be having a phone call later today when I have more time.

Bottom line is I'm a Prime member, I've placed many pre-orders for various products and had little issue, but this is so frustrating that it's making me reconsider doing any business with these guys in the future.

Are you just obsessing over nothing? Has anything shipped late/bundled for you yet? All the pre-shipment stuff is tentative info, and doesn't matter in the slightest. I always keep my orders as "ship in as few shipments as possible", and unless items actually ship out within 1-2 days of each other all orders are always split.

I understand what you guys are saying, I use Amazon very frequently and I'm not referring to any sort of placeholder date.

I got in touch with Amazon originally when I noticed that I lost the individual ship dates on my order (i.e. Gears said it was expected today, MGS said it was expected to arrive next Tuesday), as they reverted to 1 giant shipment. They're claiming it's a "technical error" and they're "working on it", whatever that may mean. I'll give it a couple days to see if it irons itself out, but if not then I won't be pre-ordering from them again.

from my experience, games with release dates that are 2 weeks apart will be grouped together.
i had nba 2k and shadow mordor group together
the release dates were:

September 30, 2014
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Initial release date

October 7, 2014

NBA 2K15, Initial release date

Keep us updated if GoW doesn't ship in a few days. That's supposed to be in stock and shipping out right now.
Update: after an hour long phone call it looks like they put a rush on GoW... though the rest of the order STILL says shipping early December. The dude seems confident that the issue is solved, and that MGS will arrive next Tuesday, so I guess I can't really have a firm idea of whether the issue is resolved until next week.

The game I pre-ordered months ago and released tuesday still hasn't shipped. I phoned on tuesday and they said it would ship within 48 hours. Really not impressed with amazon so far. The shipping date on the order did change however. It says it will ship today and arrive next tuesday. I guess we will see. A week isn't too long, but we'll see how the rest of the games fare, and if this one actually gets here on tuesday.

I wanted to pass along my observations and conclusions here.
I am a long time Amazon.com prime member and moved to Canada in late 2011. Obviously I was used to getting games on release date.
Until I became a .ca prime member I noticed that pretty much any game I had preordered through .ca would not ship on release. In fact, the product listing would usually change to the game NOT being available for new orders on release date. This is where I'd get all nervous thinking I wouldn't get the game. (Tomb Raider slipcase for PS4 for example)

I didn't become a .ca prime member until after this years E3 deal. Looking at my orders BEFORE I signed up for prime, any preorder I had for a game THAT HAD A PROPER RELEASE DATE all had estimated received dates of the following week instead. Based on these estimates I knew they'd ship after the release. When I signed up for prime though a lot of them actually switched to a new receiving date of the release date instead. This is what I'd expect being an Amazon Prime member, so things were good.

I noticed however that Rare Replay still had a late ship date and an estimated delivery date of the following week. Even though prime should be a lot sooner. What I did was I did a quick test. Sure enough, if I went in and tried to place a NEW order for Rare with my prime membership active (and not just being retroactively applied) it did the same thing. It didn't say it was available for the release date on the website for a NEW order.

So my conclusion is that Amazon.ca only gets small batches of product on release date. Because of this they allocate orders not on first come first serve basis, but by shipping speed request. In my case I had preordered it as soon as it was possible to preorder, but they saw oh hey he's got the free slow shipping, so we don't need to ship it right away, let's save his order for batch #2. People who ordered AFTER me but picked faster shipping get placed higher on the processing/allocation list, batch #1 for example. When it tried to push up my shipping because of prime, they must have been past their allocation for the first shipment of product which is why it didn't upgrade AND why I couldn't just place a new order on the spot and get release day delivery.

Thanks for that explanation, it seems to make sense.

The game I pre-ordered finally shipped on Friday, and according to tracking, it arrived in my city Sunday night. That seems to be amazingly fast, unless amazon upped the shipping speed. I highly doubt it would get here that fast regularly?

I have two more games pre-ordered that release tomorrow, so I'll see how those go.

My GoW was separated from my original large E3 order and rushed to me after my call last week, and as mentioned I was told that the rest of the order should be sorted out now. Unfortunately, I just checked to see what the status of MGS was, and it's still reverting back to that December ship date.

It looks like it's latching onto the game with the latest confirmed release date (Xenoblade, in this case), and lumping everything into a shipment with it. I'm really not sure why they don't seem to be able to fix this problem for me.

Another update: no MGS today, and it's showing "out of stock" (PS4 version) on their site. Called in again, apparently this issue I'm having is happening with a bunch of orders that had 10+ games on them with different release dates. No ETA on a fix (they said next week, but they told me that last week too), no ETA on MGS being in stock.

Basically, don't pre-order through Amazon. I'm honestly shocked, I've never had any issues with anything and my experience with Prime shipments has been second to none, which is why I felt confident in doing this years E3 orders through them vs. BB/FS.

Earlier this week I e-mailed amazon again to ask why my pre-ordered games were scheduled to ship on Fridays, as I never got an answer last week. They did confirm that orders with paid shipping did ship out first, regardless of when ordered.

They didn't really say much else, but at least I know not to use free shipping from amazon if I want it release week.

They also said they would give me free next day shipping on my order of mad max.
They ended up shipping my order of metal gear next day instead of mad max. So i will get metal gear today and mad max tuesday. At least I will have one of them to play over the long weekend.

Got an email yesterday that they dropped the price of mad max, so got that for even cheaper. Yay!
