Hybrid vs Electric vs Gas

So I've always driven a gas only car. But thinking about getting a new car. I know the mileage on Hybrid and Electric would be a lot better but wanted to hear some of the downsides. So anybody with an electric or hybrid? How much did the electric bill go up? What's the most expensive repair you have needed for the car? So any stories from owners?
