I was going to order a Hard Dive for my X1 last night and figured I would check to see what best buy had on sale. They have all their Western Digital MyBook's on sale. They have the 3 Tb for 99 and I got the 4 for $115 which from what I have seen is a great price.

I wasnt sure if I should put this under the Best Buy thread but I didn't want anyone that may be looking to miss it.

I had the Western Digital and didn't like it.  I ended up exchanging it for the Seagate 5TB external drive.

Always pass on the 3TB drives....always.  WD may be marginal but the Seagate....reminds me of the IBM DeathStar disks.

For better or worse both Kotaku and IGN have touted the WD My Book external HDD as one of the best external HDD's for the XBox One for being able to cut load times up to 30% on some games compared to the default drive on the One.

So you can hook up an external hard drive on xbone and install the games to it and play it from there? Just wanted to be sure, thanks!

I have the 2TB WB My Book on my Wii U and the 4TB version on my X1, both drives have worked flawlessly since I installed them both at the end of last year.

My 4TB gets more work than the 2TB one, though neither drive has been an issue.

I've had this exact drive for about a year now.
Works great, no problems at all and I think 4T should last me a while.

Why not get the 5TB one

I believe the limit for use with Xbox One is 4 TB and the 360 is 2 TB.

I can confirm that the 4tb rings up as $115 in store (San Jose, CA). My store's display listed it as $130. Good find OP.

I'm pretty sure Xbox One can use a 5TB external harddrive.

I too wish PS4 could use an external harddrive.

I tried looking it up and it's hard finding a consensus but it seems the limit is 2 (or 3) hard drives with a total of 16 tb. So yeah, I was wrong. But holy crap that's a lot of storage.

Glad I could help out. That is a good deal for the 5TB on amazon. I have been browsing around pretty hard for a External HD for the last couple weeks and this one has by far been the best bang for the buck. BTW yes it downloaded my games, that I had deleted and some that i just hadn't installed period for lack of room, very quickly.

I have had 2 Western Digital Externals.  BOTH have just up and shit the bed on me.  Usually followed by the dreaded "clicking" sound.  Western Digital has lost me as a customer for life.  I have two Seagates now.  No problems yet.

If you have a Gameboy Micro for sale, I would like to buy it from you!

Seagate > WD

I have Seagate in all my stuff.  Flawless.  WD tends to shit the bed after a period of time.

Out of all the externals I have owned I have had 4 seagtes die on me within a year or 2, switched to a wd externals and have not had an issue. Same with PC drives I had 2 seagates die me and the only wd drive to die on me I killed(kid got ahold of it while I was cleaning out my PC). I have 3 wd externals now 2 3tb drives one of which runs 24/7 for the past 3 years and its still just fine and a 1tb on my wiiu that I've had on there for about 6 months and its fine. The other 3tb is hooked up to my xbone and is only a month or 2 old with no issue. All the seagates started having issues around 6mo to a year and none made it past 2 years. To me though i think its more where u buy them that matters, all the seagates came from Walmart who just throw everything in the trucks. The wd drives came from bestbuy.

Do both the seagate and the WD have 7200RPM on them or is this not a thing anymore. Curious cause I have a HGST 1tb on the xbox one now that's almost full and I want to upgrade to the 4 or 5tb and pass the 1tb over to the PS4.
