Walmart Sued for Sales Tax Refund Shorting

Link doesn't work.

Edit: I just read an article on consumer affairs. I figured I would throw this out, but it works both ways. If you buy the item in a lower tax bracket but return in a higher one you get more money than you paid for.

^ I really don't see how that works at least with Wal-Mart since whatever store you go to should be refunding you what is on the receipt and not a penny more or less, regardless of what their sales tax is there compared to where you got it from originally.

I would like to see them stop charging sales tax on the pre coupon price on an item as well. I stopped using MyCokeRewards coupons there because of that. They wanted to charge tax on the free soda. I know the coupon that you pay the sales tax but in PA, you pay tax on the after coupon price. Target, Toys R Us, Costco (when there is a manufacturer's instant rebate) and Best Buy all have it setup correctly.

They refunded you the base price plus local tax, regardless of the original tax rate because their systems are still running in the 20th century.

They are allegedly fixing it because of this.
