The first wave of amiibo cards releases in the US Friday, September 25th, with the Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards up first. Series One consists of 100 cards with four series of AC amiibo cards in total. This full series will have a total of 400 cards, hence this trading thread to try and make it as cheap as possible. If full boxes can be bought it would be the cheapest route, but trading may make the game more fun to play. How? beats me. Now for the rules...

Read the CAG trading rules before trading. Here's a link to the AC Happy Home Designer thread here on CAG.

Tips for mailing the cards as per DetectiveConanA113

Tips:
-The cheapass way: get a pack of top loader card protectors (they're like sleeves, but made of more rigid plastic). I buy mine from Walmart, they're about $2-$4 or so for a big pack. Then just drop the card within the top loader in a regular envelope, send it on it's way. [When you send multiples, tape the top loaders all together so they don't move in the envelope].

-Best way (because top loaders can be bent by mailmen sometimes): Put the card in the top loader, sandwich it between two pieces of cardboard, then send it in a regular envelope. This is more expensive as it makes the envelope heavier/bulkier, but also ensures the card won't bend at all.

I always choose the expensive way in hopes people will be just as careful with my cards, but both ways are fine. If these cards turn out to be more rigid than the average card, you probably won't even need the cardboard.[/spoiler]

Thanks for the thread, looking forward to trading. There's no way I'd just keep buying packs to complete the set.

Anyone know how thick the cards are? Will they fit in regular trading card pages or do we need something special?

omg... guess I'll be here too!  I never traded cards via mail just in person.  Not sure how these will compare to tgc/ccg cards or even sports cards.

Here are the dupes from my first purchase:

HAVE: #'s 01, 09, 29, 33, 39, 42, 61, 76 and 91.

WANT: 2, 4-8, 10, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 27, 28, 31, 24, 37, 38, 41, 43, 44, 49, 50, 52, 54, 59, 64, 65, 69-71, 73, 75, 77, 78, 84, 85, 88, 89, 92, 94, 96, 98, 100

How'd you get them already?

Here are the dupes from my first purchase:

HAVE: #'s 01, 09, 29, 33, 39, 42, 61, 76 and 91.

WANT: 2, 4-8, 10, 14, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 27, 28, 31, 24, 37, 38, 41, 43, 44, 49, 50, 52, 54, 59, 64, 65, 69-71, 73, 75, 77, 78, 84, 85, 88, 89, 92, 94, 96, 98, 100
So if I counted, added, and guessitmated correctly it seems you got 10-13 packs?

Are there 18 per case? I bought a whole case from GS but it was 24, unless they had 6 extra I have no clue. The manager made it seem like that was all they had. Afraid to open them. >_<

I read that, I think it was liquid metal who posted that. It was an impulse buy, I really wasn't going to get into it but I couldn't resist an untouched box.

I have a total of 11 packs in transit but I will likely not be listing any until I buy 17 packs just to see what I get.

For trades, are people sending them unprotected in an envelope or are they being protected with some sort of card protector?  Obviously the cheapest way to send them would be for the cost of a stamp in an envelope but I'm not sure how bad the post office may mangle it, and I definitely wouldn't want to do that if my trading partner wasn't doing it.

I have some more packs and card sleeves on the way, but I have Sable (SP004) and Mint (063) available as duplicates. I'll update my list as my packs come in to me.

I bought a pack of 35 Toploaders from Walmart for $2.98. Figure I can slide a card in them to protect it. Depending on how many cards are traded at a time it might be possible to use a stamp and just place in an envelope.

Still waiting on 13 more packs to come in the mail. So far I have 21 duplicates, will post a list once I get the rest of my packs so hopefully larger trades can be made.

I'm also not done getting packs, so I'm holding off posting my list until I decide on how many I want lol.

The post office would either destroy it, bend part of it, or [somehow] deliver it perfectly. It'a more likely to get damaged than a regular package without protection honestly.
I've traded cards online more than anything else, so I've pretty much seen everything. I've gotten cards shipped in nothing but paper that have come perfect, while others (like one worth $150....) came entirely bent on one side. Even in top loaders, if a mailman is aggressive enough they could crack the loader and bend the card (I've seen that too). That's the least common problem I've had though, which is why I recommend trading with top loaders. Cheapest way to pretty much guarantee the cards will arrive safe.

Just because of my slight OCD, it's packs which are in a box which are in a case.

For example, there's 18 packs in a box, and however many boxes in a case.

Also, if you guys are sending a bunch, get a team set bag at a card store and put them in it, then cut some cardboard to cover each large side and tape it around it for protection. Then you should be able to mail them in a small bubble mailer.
