Activision is finally starting to do the half-assed treatment to PS3/360 versions of games, where they get bastardized versions of games(like they did with the PS2) due to being last gen.

Only this time, if you get Black Op 3 for those systems, you're only getting a multiplayer mode.  They've decided to omit the single player campaign due to the co-op feature in the campaign mode supposedly.  Oh, but don't worry, Activision is only charging $50 for this version(wtf?).  Plus you get a digital version of Black Ops 1.

I was worried until I heard we're getting a nice discount plus a retro game to boot.

I'd be happy if it was the other way around.  Remove the multiplayer aspect for last generation.  The single player campaign is usually glossed over by most, in favor of the multiplayer in my opinion.

You would think the single player option would be better because there are no commitment of resources to servers for multi-player. You know those will probably be cut off quickly, so the value here will be very short-lived.

So what they're saying is the single player campaign is only worth $10.
Basically. I'd rather have it the other way around, offer single player mode and cut out multiplayer mode(like they did with the PS2 version of World at War). Plus like mentioned above, it would eliminate server costs.

But now that they're doing this, I'm betting that it'll go to the bargain bin soon after the holidays(if not during the holidays).

Even though I don't bother with playing the campaign in most games, this is still a dumb move on their part. I know they want to push for an end of last gen consoles, that's clear, but this is a poor choice on their part.

Well this sucks.... how am I going to get my fix of cutscenes where I'm trapped in a crashing helicopter, or narrowly avoiding a crashing helicopter, or watching a helicopter crash in the distance?

Single player is the only mode I play in these games - I haven't even hooked up my X360 to the web in years :p

I wonder how clear this will be to prospective buyers.... could be a quite a few upset customers in the future.
