Well now I feel like an idiot for ordering from Amazon with the MGS bundle. I wonder if the Destiny system will be $50 less, too. If so, I wouldn't be surprised to see it bundled with another game on Black Friday for $350 or maybe even $300.

You don't lower the price on Black Friday and you especially don't do it on Christmas. Holiday shopping season is already in full swing so you do it as soon as possible especially with most retailers offering price guarantees until mid January. This is a great move for Sony.

 
So - with the price coming down on Friday and with Target offering a $50GC on PS4s through saturday, seems we could get a PS4 at $350 + a $50 GC - which is a pretty sweet deal

Could get a PS4 today at $399 + $50 GC to lock the GC and then apply for a price match the day after when the hardware drops $50

Picked one up at target with the $50 giftcard, a giftcard i got for 10% off on raise, and my 10% off employee discount , , , after adding this fifty in I am coming out at 290 and a 50 dollar card!

Speaking for myself, and assuming you're seriously asking, it's mostly been the lack of exclusives. I have a PC, so I haven't felt the need for a PS4. (I actually borrowed a co-worker's to play Bloodborne). But with The Old Hunters coming out, and some new exclusives on the horizon--and also a new house where it's much more of a pain to hook my PC to my TV--it's time for a PS4. This price drop makes it that much easier to take the plunge.

I guess the other thing has been lack of backwards compatibility. But that's not changing, so ah well.

Had one sold it for $360 after playing through the handful of titles I was interested and after it had sat there collecting dust for a month. Then went and bought a $280 Xbox One. Plan to get another PS4 when it drops into the $250-$300 zone.

As you asked, I have a 360 backlog which runs into the hundreds alone and I wanted to actually finish some of those games before I got a new console and that's ignoring the PS3, Wii, Wii U, DS and 3DS backlogs I also have. Also up to this point there wasn't really anything good enough that I thought required me getting one.

I'll probably end up getting an Xbone truth be told but my reasons are the same. Waiting 2 years until I got a current gen (next to me) console is one of the best decisions I have ever made. They're now cheaper, UI issues have been fixed and the games are cheaper. Plus I actually played some of the games I'd already paid for :)

I literally bought the Military Appreciation Bundle at Gamestop less than 24 hours ago xD

I plan on calling corporate and seeing if they can hook me up with a gift card or something

 
I'll wait til the games I actually wanna play on ps4 come out. So, I'll probs wait til early - mid 2016 for a final fantasy bundle, hopefully in white. (But also hopefully it's transparent) :p

If you literally just bought it then take the receipt tomorrow for an adjustment? I think they let you adjust the first week or rebuy on friday and return that console with yesterdays receipt.

So is the new lighter, matte, less power hungry/loud, real on/off buttoned PS4 sold in North America yet?

Well it seems like this move was to combat the X1 price and HALO and Tomb Raider most likely. It is smart on Sony. They cannot really offer anything unique this Holiday so a price drop is about it. I do not think MS cuts the price but I won't be surprised if the bundles get even more games as extras.
