So goddamn excited for this game.

I know I am already going to go as a rougeish character (with hacking defiantly and possibly rifles for stealth). Just need to figure out how to perk it right.

I really can't believe that Fallout, Tomb Riser, and FFXIV patch 3.1 all come out on the same day.

I actually didn't like the previous Fallout games much, but I love Elder Scrolls, so I'm going to give this game another try.

Oh yeah, I hear ya. After getting stuck in a death loop in Fallout 3 and loosing hours of play, I hadn't touched it in years. Just recently got back into it, largely in part of Fallout Shelter & and of course 4, and have enjoyed a lot of great moments with it.

I'm super amped, it sounds like they've learned from their mistakes. The crafting system let alone will have me enthralled for some time. The perks system and no level cap system sounds very intriguing.

I started out disliking Fallout for the Vats because it was a pain in the ass if you wanted to just shoot without vats. I got back into New Vegas and started to enjoy the series. Now I am pumped for Fallout 4.

I think what changed for me is I switched up my playstyle to a more rouge like play like I did with Skyrim and I enjoyed the game much more.

Watched the leaked videos... People seem concerned but I'm feeling pretty good. The graphics definitely aren't particularly polished or impressive, but it looks fun to play. Still kinda wish that it was Elder Scrolls VI coming out this year instead of Fallout though lol.

I thinking Fallout 3 didn't look very good when it came out, I actually thought it looked pretty bad but Fallout is not about graphics. It would be good if it looked amazing but the game is huge and we are playing it on a console so you can't expect the graphics to look particularity good.

I see people complaining about the graphics but then again what open world game looks amazing.

I spent yesterday figuring out how I am going start perking my guy out. Still need to decide what weapons to specialize in but other than that I will be good to go.

If the Microsoft Store fs up my pre-order, like they did with Rare Replay & Halo 5 (according to my bank there's a lot of fraud that comes out of that place), I might be going the BB route with the GCU too and I've been eyeing that Season Pass as well. I picked up the disc version of two DLCs for Fallout 3 and then bought all the remaining DLC when it was on sale so yeah makes sense really. Although there's a 100% GotY version because it's Bethesda and they always release everything later.

For some reason I only ended up playing the Alaska and UFO abduction DLCs from Fallout 3, which are supposedly the worst ones. I just got too tired of the game before I ever got around to the others.

I really liked all the DLC I did the alien one when I first started the game not knowing what I was doing and therefore didn't enjoy it all that much

I hope we get some great DLC for this

Normally I would have waited for the Game of the Year edition for PC on Steam and buy it when it goes cheap............BUT I said fuck it when BB had it for 68 after GCU.  I used a 30 dollar rewards certificate from my banked points so after tax it came to around 41.  As it was a pre-order I will get a 10 dollar certificate for it so it brings it down to 30.  New game , plus full DLC plus socks... HELL YEAH!!!

Just a heads up, if you want to go into F4 with as much spoiler free as possible. Try to only read reviews from metacritic approved sites.

I was browsing around today and I have basically had the ending spoiled for me already which sucks (and everything is being leaked), but oh well.

Yeah just like any game I'm gonna play I actually read reviews later not to spoil anything. That sucks they spoiled the end for you.

I've read Destructoid and Jim Sterling's reviews, and watched videogamer.com's review and none of them spoiled me. To quote Simon Miller, yeah there are some performance issues, no the aesthetic hasn't changed(not a negative, just observation), the story is a bit of a slow start, but big deal because you get so lost in it.

After reading a few reviews they were pretty much pointless. The TLDR review is this is Fallout 4, it's a Bethesda game and it's better than Fallout 3.

In other words you already knew what to expect before reading this, thank you for the ad money, lol.

Spent some time planning out my character tonight. The toughest part will be what perk I take first, lol. I am hoping that you level really fast in F4 because there are a lot of perks I want for my rouge character, pronto.

The only review that matters, isn't really a review but it still is pretty good.

I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight, Fallout 4 eve!

I plan on going down the mascara tree, with points in foundation.

Ummmm OK, after you get out of the vault, slight spoiler, I can't figure out how to build connevting wire for the radio beacon. I have a generator already and I don't see it anywhere on the build menu. That whole thing is incredibly awesome BTW.

3 and a half hours in my god.

I love the shooting now because it feels like if I am not using VATS it really feels close to playing a FPS. I really, really love that every item in the game is used for something now. So the scrap is used to craft stuff.

OK, to answer my own query, if you have copper then while in build mode, highlight the generator and hit Y. There's even a UI description I somehow missed. Found it by reading the in-game help menu but yeah there are some things this game doesn't tell you. Radio beacon active! Gotta go to sleep!!!

For SPECIAL I went higher on perception and endurance. Although I'm going down the gun nut perk tree lol. Love modding my weapons. I'll never look at junk the same again. Tip, pick up everything.

(Used this cool character builder to plan)

Third person view seems worse and less usable than Skyrim (maybe it's the difference between shooting and sword-swinging). At least the shooting aspect is waaay improved from Fallout 3. I just prefer to play games in third person and see my character, but in this case it doesn't seem doable.

Really enjoying the game so far! So many huge improvements over Fallout 3, at least from my perspective (I know not everyone's into stuff like the voiced main character and Mass Effect-ish dialogue system but they are godsends for me).

It does seem very evident that this began life as a 360 game and became a next-gen only game far into development. But graphical polish isn't everything.

I liked the voiced character. It actually feels like he's a part of the story and not just someone that is just there.

Yeah voiced main characters are a small way that gives things weight. Depending on their performance you can get a whole new perspective and it enhances the experience.

Yeah I'm playing first person. I did try out third person but since I'm mainly adding on sights or improving them on all my weapons so yeah I aim down the sights battlefield/call of duty/halo/gears style.
Picked up a hardened sniper rifle though and that baby is meant for V.A.T.S. lol! Although I did see the "press thumb stick to hold breathe" displayed while manually zoomed in.

My S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
Is 3.7.5.4.4.3.3.
I'm level 7.

Damn, my SPECIAL is very different from everyone. I love talking in real life haha so I always make my characters as charismatic as I can and so naturally that got a full 10 points for me : P Having full control of the dialogue options is the best to me!

Mine is....

Want the gun in the 111 vault, but don't have master lockpick? You can call on Dogmeat and tell him to fetch a item. Just go into the office, stand looking at the gun and tell Dogmeat to fetch a item, he will then go over to the gun and and glitch the gun out till he has it.

I went big on strength just because I want the carry capacity bonus. My least favorite thing in this type of game is becoming overencumbered. Right now I'm feeling like pistols are going to be my weapon of choice.

There's no reason to carry multiple copies of the same weapon, right? It's not like previous Fallout where you need to combine them?

Also is there any way to make quest objectives display all the time on the main HUD?

I put points into V.A.N.S., which gives up a path to your closet quest target and we'll I see something on the map. I think that's because of that perk.

Yeah Ryu, pocketed mods for armor. They'll give you more carrying capacity. Also, I can't believe it took me like 6 hours before I figured out your dog is a mule! You can trade with it, also press Y on an item on your dog's list to equip it on Dogmeat.

You could sell the duplicate weapons but I usually scrap them.

I need to learn science but I'm too stupid atm lol.

It's turning into every game Conan just wants to have sex in it lol. He got his wish in The Wither III.

I'm having problems getting food for my settlement. I have assigned settlers to them but my food is only showing 2. I believe I need the seeds but where are those. Guess I should travel to Diamond City, my best guess in supplies that I need. My place has lights, just made an inn like building and powered defenses! So satisfying lol.

Update: NM, haha, the settlers had the stuff I needed, just look in their inventory.

Lol, yes, I have fully repaired my power armor and refilled my minigun. I also took out a dude, was on foot for that, and got his fat man. Nothing can stop me now!

If you are looking to get a certain SPECIAL tree up to level 10 would it be best to make it either 8 or 9 starting? I know there is a Bobblehead for each stat to increase it by one point, but are there any books or other ways to increase it again?

I know that there's a book under Shaun's crib that lets you raise any SPECIAL attribute by one, in addition to the bobbleheads.

Yeah I saw the one SPECIAL book at the start but I am seeing conflicting info online about if there are others. Some sources are saying there are 7 total and others say it is just the one right at the start at the crib.

I only saw the book on the nightstand but is that the same one that you're talking about? Didn't know that you can collect it. I only heard my character made a comment about Shaun when I examined it or can you only collect it later after the nukes drop?
