galakz code plz! great show as always. btw, you need to start adding chapter markers that overcast supports. pretty cool feature.

Please sign me up for the Galak-Z code contest. Thank you.

I don't know how I feel about the Amiibo. They're only as good as the work you put into them since they're supposed to be your Nintendo avatars. It's good to have for Streetpass and stuff. But I don't know if I can tie all of them to a smartphone app.

Shipwreck's still complaining about tiny text on large screens again? I have to agree with that as usual. Just because I have a 1080p monitor does mean I want to ruin my eyes by sitting even closer to the tv. Why haven't software developers worked on UI scaling like Firefox. I read everything here just fine, unlike on Chrome where I have try to squint.

Everyone should watch iZombie. I haven't been disappointed by it in no way close to the same level as Arrow and Flash. Agents of Shield is still awesome, tuesday's episode was pretty great.

Edit: Oops I was thinking about Paris' Japan Expo. Wikipedia says Paris Games Week is a thing since 2010.

Metropolis is based on Cleveland Ohio, Toronto & NYC and Gotham is based on New York City.

Link to Metropolis Wiki. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolis_%28comics%29
Actually if you read further, the DC Cities are rather a pistache of places their creators lived in as children. One could say Metroplis could be Cleveland. However, Gotham and Metropolis represent Manhattan as well. Gotham is the grungy, dirty, lower part of Manhattan, like the East and Greenwich Village (they were referenced in the first Batman Silver Age comic book), Metropolis is Midtown Manhattan, where all of the exciting "futuristic" action happens. I'm not sure what the Upper West Side is in DC comics though.

Besides over the decades they fudged around with the geography way too much. Gotham City is in New Jersey because of a variety of reasons, from the Batman Animated Series, to Firestorm being based out of Manhattan. The corruption in Gotham was supposed to resemble old style New York with Boss Tweed and Tamamy Hall. But because of the notorious reputation Chicago has, that's why Nolan chose the place.

The Green Arrow's hometown, Star City is more confusing, but mostly because a lot of people aren't too familiar with the old comics. Some say it's a port city in the Massachusetts Bay, or near the Great Lakes. It definitely can't be Seattle because Ollie does leave the city for it when Mike Grell wrote the series in the late 80s. It's only Chicago because the producers decided to mimic the Dark Knight films.

Central City is supposed to be your typical Midwestern city, but Shipwreck can probably explain if it resembles Cincinnati or Cleveland, or Kansas City if he bothered to read Flash comics. Of course that's muddled as well.

Those tv producers really have to do a better job of giving the settings very distinct flavors.

Cheaply--listened to Cagcast at a bus stop while being harassed by whinos---could please use a Galak-Z code. Please!

Great show as always guys.

I agree with Wombat- I hate it when cut scenes show your character doing something you can't do in game.

Since this is the only place I go on the internet where anyone might remotely care, my complaints about Arrow:

In no particular order, except for number 1 which everyone knows already

1) Felicity.  Great in season 1, ruined by the end of season 2.  It's like the writers forgot that Oliver was perfectly capable before Felicity took up her seat in the arrow-cave, errrr Foundry.  Remember the arrow that transferred the evil businessman's bank account to charity?

Man she better be the one in that grave.

2) The action has gotten lazy.  In the first 2 seasons it was way more grounded, they at least attempted to show characters needing cover when fighting dudes with guns.  Now Laurel can just sway her motorcycle back and forth to avoid machine gun fire.  And everyone knows how to deflect an arrow.

This last episode where everyone got schooled by fucking rogue cops....oh man.  So bad.

3) They painted themselves in a corner with their typical "CW" casting of Laurel and Thea, with zero regard to how those actors would do as Black Canary and Speedy.  Scenes with them in costume are painful to watch.

That's it for now.  /rant

Please throw my name in the hat for a Galak Z code.  Thanks!

But Arrow does get points for resurrecting the Constantine show that NBC canceled in next week's episode.

Tomb Raider sold extremely well for Square Enix, as they announced it had reached 8.5 million copies sold as of two years after launch. The only reason Square said it failed at launch is because they needed it to do even better than being the best launch in franchise history to make up for their other games that failed. The same happened with Sleeping Dogs when they later came out later to say it actually did do well enough to keep the franchise going, though that obviously hasn't resulted in a sequel yet.

I don't know how Rise of the Tomb Raider will top 3.5 million copies in the first month on just one console.

Even though Fatal Frame on WiiU is worse than 1-3 (which were all great games) I liked the demo well enough, and would have bought the game if I could have got a retail copy at Best Buy for $40 and earned some points.  But it's digital only in America despite there being a disc version on Europe.  So I'm not paying $50 for the privilege of filling up my WiiU's storage space.

They actually took the lingerie costumes out of the Western version and replaced them with Samus and Zelda.

The discussion about console sales at the end was kind of strange.  No mention of the PS4 reaching 29.3 million, or of Microsoft deciding to not give a number for their Xbox hardware shipments.

In for try at galak-z, the game sounds good but i've sworn off buying things in my "tighter months".

I have a wii u and my kids play it daily but i have yet to buy a single amiibo. I did get into skylanders for a while but my interest has faded a lot.

Shipwreck.  On consoles and PC, what you see is universal.  If you have a 120" tv, the text will be the same comparable size in comparison to a 55" tv.  I have my consoles and PC hooked up to the same 55" tv.  I no longer use my monitor.

If you're using a PC though and happen to be a website that has small text, you can hold ctrl and press + or - and it'll increase the size of everything on that website.

Frisky, they probably won't get near that number, but they also don't have to. This deal with Xbox is probably lining their pockets quite handsomely.

Also, I listened to a fairly recent 8-4 Play podcast about the Galak-Z Variant Mobile, and I'm incredibly interested in the game. Apparently its very old-school hard, but in the best way. I'm holding out for a holiday PSN sale, but would love a code.

I think what I find disgusting about the Fatal Frame deal is that Nintendo is expecting a mutual set of fans, those that like Fatal Frame and are Nintendo fanatics. I'm more likely to believe there are quite a bit of Fatal Frame fans that AREN'T buying Metroid or Zelda products therefore the lingerie makes more sense.

I'm going to be getting a Wii U for Bayonetta 2, Incredible 101, Fatal Frame 6, etc. Notice what all those have in common? Yes, Nintendo paid for their development but they're NOT Nintendo properties. Nintendo has almost burned me out on their stuff. Pikmin 3 and Splatoon are about the only Nintendo properties I give a shit about when it comes to the Wii U.

edit: Oh and Microsoft should take a fucking hint there on what Nintendo is paying for in terms of exclusives. I would love to see what could be done on a new next gen system. As it stands all the Fatal Frame's past 2 have fake 5.1 sound ffs, including the Wii U versions.

Thank god Fatal Frame and Fatal Frame 2 released for the Xbox and fixed the shitty camera issue for the latter, which reminds me that I need to replay and finish them. There's a hint for Microsoft, they should've released those games for download in the Xbox store.

Another hint...how about a remake of Onimusha and "The Suffering"? Sony or Microsoft, I'm giving you some good advice right there.

This is why people had a big problem with the exclusivity deal in the first place, as Square Enix clearly didn't need it for the game to even exist unlike Capcom's deals for Dead Rising 3 and Street Fighter 5. It was just done to wring more money out of the situation.

They've got a history of doing this kinda stuff too. Most recent that comes to mind is the Deus Ex pre-order disaster. Don't even get me going on their mobile platform.

Oyyy, some of the Halo 5 talk was tough to listen to.. "Space marine guys, robot guys, the dogs" etc etc

I think Halo 5 is pretty good, but a little bummed as I feel the marketing and hype for the game doesn't reflect the actual campaign.

This big mystery of "hunt the truth", Chief going AWOL and Locke hunting him down - but in reality after playing it's nothing like that in my opinion. Very ehh.

I LOVE ROBOTECH!!! LOL.... YES, I am interested in Galak-Z and countless missile fire and explosions on the screen!! GIMMEE!!! please...

Mr. Cheapy D!

I'm totally in for a Galak-Z code!

Also, watch Virunga! I'm tellin ya man, it's not too bad! Plus, has monkeys in it!

Hey CheapyD,

Thanks for choosing my twitter question for the show!

It sounded like Shipwreck was a little caught off-guard by my question about your wives' involvement with the home renovations, so I apologize I was being naive by asking it. I am getting married in less than a year and was just confirming that the conversations I'm having with my fiancee about future living decor mimic those held by other CAGs. I guess I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone.... Learning which battles to choose will be a lifelong lesson, I'm sure....

Great show, as always! Keep up the good work!

I was pretty disappointed with the Paris games week coverage by the crew, I was really looking forward to some in depth opinions on the things shown and it seemed like you guys did not really even take the time to watch all the trailers. I also am pretty sure most people have known this conference was coming since like July. I know I have been looking forward to it since summer.

I would love to hear at least some more opinions about Detroit other than it looks like a David cage game.....

It was apparently the second most attended conference this year after Gamescom, so a little strange to hear on a few podcasts people a little confused to what / why this is a thing - it's been running since 2010.

That's pretty cool you have two Mets pitchers living in your building.  It can't be Matz since he still in L.I. with his parents.  You should've had Tai go up there under the Trick or Treating pretense, ha.

Great show as always guys!  Put me down for that Galak-Z code, thanks!

It's great as a public event but it's so late in the year it's worthless as a news event. Which is why podcasts and many news sites weren't aware of it. Nothing significant was announced.

Yay, comics!

I was a little surprised to hear the negative comments regarding digital comics. Comixology's guided view on an iPad is just fantastic. While I love my physical collection, I love reading digitally. I really like how Marvel includes a code for a digital version with most of their comics. Just hook your Marvel account to your Comixology account and you are gold.

Ship, since you like Spidey, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by missing Ultimate Spider-man. It's a fantastic series. Pretty much everything that is great about Spidey and none of the stupid stuff. Just start at #1 and you have a great ride for 130 issues or so.

Regarding current stuff, read lots of different things at first. When you find something you like, make note of the writer. Most people follow characters, but you'll have a better time if you follow the writers you like. Don't pass up the non-big 2 labels too. There are lots of great titles on Dark Horse and Image. Black Magic, We Stand On Guard, Powers, Fade Out, and Rachel Rising are all great titles from smaller publishers.

Agreed, iZombie is fantastic. The premise sounds horrible, but it's so damned clever. And also based on a great comic.

Microsoft did universal search first not apple.  Always a good show.
