So I have no idea what's going on but I still haven't received my code. I contacted CDKeys and they said that I paid for the subscription using Skrill and that the funds haven't been released to them. They suggested I contact Skrill except I used PayPal to pay for it. Not only that but the transaction has gone through and the money is out of my account. I have no idea where the money is and no idea what Skrill is or how it links to me using PayPal. Anyone know?

I've contacted Skrill in the meantime to see if maybe they will know but as far as I can tell, they are a separate entity from PayPal.

That's what you get when you make a deal with the Devil, dude.

Cool, thanks.

As it turns out they were looking up the wrong e-mail address because my PayPal e-mail is different. Once they figured that out, I got my code no problem. But I lost my soul so that sucks.

Hello! New member here. I just wanted to say "THANKS!" for this post. I just purchased an Xbox One a few days ago and I took advantage of this sale. The code arrived in my email immediately after purchase. Thanks again!

They raised the price to $35.99.

Also, I paid with card but as a guest. Every time I do the verification code the page is blank when it suppose to give me the code for Xbox Live. I tried twice on my iPhone.
Never settle for full price unless you have no other choice. ;)

I had this problem as well. If I remember correctly, I think I just refreshed the page. If that doesn't work on your iPhone, I would try on a proper computer or laptop browser.

Or a non-shitty website to buy your XBL from.

That's what I was thinking. I will do that when I get home.

Shrike you live and you learn probably won't order from there again.

It's not the best site in the world but it's legit. Can't beat that price for a year of XBL.

They're not legit.  They just scrape by with some semblance of luck, nothing more.

Do you have a source for that claim? Not saying you're wrong - I honestly don't know, and their pricing does seem suspect sometimes. Just wondering if you have actual proof.

I think Motoki (a CAG member) summarized the issues with cdkeys (and other shady key websites) very well:

Link to his post: https://www.cheapass...eys/?p=13012546

Post (everything below is from Motoki's post):

If people want to buy from a shady ass site then buy from a shady ass site, but don't be naive.

Russian keys are most certainly not always region locked. I don't know who told you that or if you just made that assumption but it's completely untrue. It varies depending on the publisher. Square by the way tends not to.

If you don't believe me you are welcome to check the Steam database

https://steamdb.info/

Now as for why the site is shady, well let's see. It's a well known grey market key seller. The name even implies ripping open retail boxes (which for PC games have gone the way of the dodo in North America but are still common in Europe) and fishing out codes inside which were obviously not meant for retail and not to be sold as just a key over the internet. Sometimes these sites will even send you a scan of a paper insert with a key.

They are not an authorized retailer for any of the games the sell. Don't believe? Write the publisher and ask them. Write CDkeys and ask them for their source. If you buy from Amazon or Gamersgate or some other similar site who are well known to be authorized retailers who have direct contracts with publishers they will tell you their source of keys is directly from the publisher themselves. CDkeys cannot do the same.

As for publishers keeping track of keys it's not always that simple. They don't have a GPS on them. But there have been instances of known stolen keys in mass amounts being sold through grey market sellers. Far Cry 4 being one, Sniper Elite 3 being another.

To clarify, one of our PC retail distributors informed us that some of their allotted Steam keys were stolen. We believe these keys were then resold to multiple companies, with no payments going to either Valve or the retail distributor.

Steam were immediately informed and have now revoked that set of keys.
...
To clarify, aside from Steam itself, digital keys for Sniper Elite 3 can be bought from the below list of licensed partners. We can confirm that we have not revoked any keys sent to these companies, nor have they reported any problems to us. This is the full list of companies that get their keys direct from us for digital sale – we do not sell to anyone else.

I bought my key from CDKeys with no idea they were in anyway illegitimate.
...

The thing is if something sounds too good to be true there's probably a catch or a reason for that. When Steam and Amazon and Gamersgate etc etc are all selling a new hot AAA game or pre-order for $60 and shadykeysite.com is selling it for $30 something's up. The vast majority of the time it is keys sourced from Russia where games are sold much cheaper and on occasion yes there may even be stolen keys involved. It's happened before.

The majority of the time these keys will probably activate just fine and people will not have problems with it. Obviously these guys would not be in business if most of the time people weren't getting anything for what they paid. If you're okay ethically with don't ask don't tell getting keys from sources that at best are cheating the publisher and at worst might even be stolen (again it has happened before; search news sites for stolen keys) then that's on the individual. But just be aware of the type of site you are buying from, don't make excuses for them or bury your head in the sand and pretend it's the same as buying a key from Amazon.com.

I can only go by my own experience. I purchased this deal and I received my code mere minutes after I paid. I entered the XBL code on my Xbox One the next day and redeemed it just fine. If others get ripped off, that sucks but I didn't.

I'm good the code finally came through when I checked again. Just wish it was instant.

Bought this and Shadow of Mordor with the 10% off and had ZERO problems. Got another year of XBL and Mordor GOTY on Steam.
Because ten billion years' time is so fragile,
so ephemeral ...
it arouses such a
bittersweet,
almost heartbreaking fondness.
