Hey guys, some family members gave me some money to pick out what I want for Christmas since they don't know much about the tech stuff I tend to buy and enjoy.

A little backstory, I've been cable free for a couple years now, so I know the ins and outs of where to go to get my tv fix (see: kodi, addons, etc). The problem is, i just moved out of my college apartment and back home temporarily. I used to have my HTPC in the living room, but it doesn't fit in my dads TV stand, so I'm looking for something smaller to wire up to the living room TV while I'm here. Currently there are Rokus on the kitchen and bedroom TVs, and my old crappy laptop hooked up in the living room. Figured this is a perfect time to upgrade from that setup.

Basically, I'm looking at 2 options. I can get one of those barebones mini pc's for the living room with 120gb SD and 4 gigs of ram for 170. Seems like a good option, but also seems like overkill for what I want to do. Second, I could grab 3 refurb Nexus players from eBay for $150 + tax. This seems perfect for the price range and allows me to set it up in basically every room of the house, but I'm just a little concerned if these things have enough horsepower to stream from Kodi in HD.

If anyone has any thoughts and opinions on the best solution, whether it's one listed above or something different altogether, I'd really like to hear it. I'm sure there are a bunch of CAGs who are living without cable as well so I'm sure someone can help me out here. Appreciate it guys!

Running Kodi off of an Amazon Fire Stick, works like a champ. Doesn't really need a lot of horsepower, for streaming video content, in my experience.
