It's taking Square 10 years to make Final Fantasy XV, and that one game pushed Kingdom Hearts 3 back an entire console generation. Obviously this is necessary to attempt to get RPGs out In a timely manner. I really don't want to play FF VII Remake in 2025.

Honestly I think you all need to calm the fook down on the releasing the game in parts because fact is, Episodic games are some of the best games released every single year and also remember that FF7 spaned multiple disks on PS1 so did you ever think they are going to split it up that way? Also I think it was Kotaku where I read that it may not be episodic at all but that they are going to be expanding the story as a whole and releasing it in parts much the same way they did with FF13, so how about you all take a freaking chill pill until more information is known, esspecially considering the trailer looked pretty amazing

I think people are more worried about Square nickle-and-diming for each "episode" or perhaps even abandoning the project before it finishes. I know a lot of people aren't sold on episodic gaming for this very reason, but I personally have no qualms with it. Breaking up the game wouldn't be the end of the world but it could go very badly if not done right.

No true FFVII fan (myself included) will use the cheats.
After I beat the game twice through, I would regularly use cheats just to see how far and much I could break the game.. or to plow through the slower/more boring parts without over the top grinding.
I've still never been able to get a Gold Chocobo however.... incontrasts I've never legitly beaten FF8, and FF9 I've done everything multiple times without cheating.. but really don't remember much about the game.

From the sounds of it, I think it's more of .Hack/Xenosaga deal where we will get multiple full games.
I'm curious how everyone feels about Final Fantasy 7 Remake being more action oriented (FF15 to even Kingdom Hearts like) and being released episodically.
Fine with me, I'm playing the original now to experience it. Not really bothered by them changing the battle system. If it's episodic like Telltale/Life is Strange/etc I will wait until the full game is out. Not really big on playing an hour or two of a game and waiting months for more. If it's a trilogy I'll get them as they come out.

I'm curious how everyone feels about Final Fantasy 7 Remake being more action oriented (FF15 to even Kingdom Hearts like) and being released episodically.
FFVII holds a special place in my heart, and Im one of the people who does NOT believe it is overrated. Its nostalgia galore for me.
Having said that I have 3 issues with the remake already:
1.) the multi-part series. This is because the game itself is one giant story. Theres no real way to break it out without a 'to be continued'... and that would really piss me off.
2.) The action-oriented battles. I honestly expected this one from the second Remake was announced. Theres just NO way Squeenix would stick to the old battle system, despite the fact that I wished like crazy they would. The original is simply the best. There seems to be this idea that the turn-based system is obsolete; but is it really? Yes, it would not necessarily break new ground or be revolutionary, but so what? the game would be FUN, which is what the original was.
They did, though, claim it would be less action oriented than Kingdom Hearts, so Im betting itll be a Crisis Core / FFXIII type system, which would not be THAT bad, so this I guess I can get over.
3.) The one thing that noone seems to be mentioning, but for me, the thing that will no doubt piss me off THE MOST:
“I don’t want the remake to end as something nostalgic," said Kitase. "I want to get the fans of the original version excited. We’ll be making adjustments to the story with this feeling in mind.”
That quote right there. CHANGING PARTS OF THE STORY!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The only reason anyone even WANTS this game is for nostalgic reasons. Changing the story, no matter how small, is ridiculous. Thats the ONE thing IMO they should not touch.
I hate to say it, but Im already disappointed by this even though its 3 years away. I was praying Squeenix would not screw it up, but it honestly looks like they will. All thats left is a FFXV-type delay.
it up, you can expect Square-Enix to be no more, it will be that catastrophic.

To be fair, the basic story is already episodic. You can easily make a case that the story is a trilogy with each disc spanning an enclosed narrative arc. That said, I'm very leery about this move. I have a feeling that it'll be $30 / 40 per part and ultimately cost something like $100-150 for the full experience. Along with the revised KH-lite combat is really starting to put me off to the whole experience.
I wanted a Resident Evil remake style game. Instead, it feels like this is going to be RE Remake if they gutted all the traditional combat for RE6 combat, and then broke the story into parts that now push the games total MSRP to over a hundred dollars.

Episodic treatmeant of FF7 pretty much killed my hype for it. After seeing the gameplay trailer I was pretty optimistic. Didn't even mind that they blatantly took the FFXV battle system and put FF7 characters in as replacements. I expected them to take liberties, what would be the point if it was exactly the same, but this is just the ultimate cash grab.
This pretty much guarantees the game won't be traditionally open-world. Would love to be wandering around and try to enter Rocket Town only to get a message, "Coming in 2018! Pre-order now for an extra Ribbon!"

Has anyone tried out Bastion for Vita? How does it fare on the smaller screen?
Ive already played through on PC, so even though its $3, I'm hesitant to double dip.
Wasn't it free on PS4 for PS+? Because I own it so the Vita version was free for me as well. They share a trophy list if you care about that stuff.

Bastion hasn't been on PS+, but you might have bought the PS4 version when it was on sale for $6 earlier in the year. I did, so the Vita version was free for me.

I love that one of the trophies involves getting Barret to go on the Golden Saucer date with you. You pretty much have to be a complete ass to Tifa, Aerith, and Yuffie for that to happen.
