My cousin is coming over to stay a week with my wife and I. She is in I think in the 6th grade and is apparently REALLY REALLY into Batman. My wife loves Batman so we already own all the Blu Rays to watch with her. However we know she has never played any bat man games at all. I know I own a few of the steam ones and have not got around to playing any of them except the first, so I figured maybe one of them. Just did not know if any were particulary stand out/age appropriate or if there is an older retro batman on the genesis or some other old system worth breaking out for her.

Thanks helping make the little girls week a little more batman filled!

For the age, probably Batman: Brave and the Bold for Wii and Lego Batman 1/2/3. Arkham Asylum is good, but might be a little too adult for her. If it is, then Origins, City, and Knight are definitely out of the question.

As for retro games, Batman Forever, Returns, and Return of the Joker are classics.

I was just walking with my wife and talking about this with her. First words out of her mouth was ummmm did you forget Lego Batman?  Thanks for the retro suggestions Joel I will look into them!

Batman: The Video Game, for the original NES. It's great. Smooth animation, nice tight controls, and a pretty great soundtrack. The only downside is that the game is tough as nails. If you can beat it, I will be very impressed. I've owned that game for 20+ years and never beaten it. (and I've played the crap out of it) But yes, it is highly recommended, and would be age-appropriate.

The Lego Batman games are obvious choices. They are age-appropriate, fun, and should be quite affordable at this point. Co-op too, so a good choice for playing with someone else. I'll second the recommendation on Batman: The Brave and the Bold for the Wii. This was a WayForward game, and those guys always produce solid 2D titles. I would also recommend the actual animated series. It's a slightly more light-hearted take on the character, but is surprisingly intelligent and referential. It's a good animated series for an older Batman fan to enjoy alongside the kids.

Since the steam sale will still be active I am realizing I can always have her pick games out too! Nice little cowinkydink!
