Thought I would post this here as I thought others maybe interested. Sam's Club is offering a $350 gift card with activation of a galaxy s6 edge plus on verizon or At&t. Doesn't matter if its an upgrade or new line activation. I went there today and upgraded two lines for a total of $700 in Sam's Club store credit. I was told the promotion is running until atleast January 24th maybe later. i picked up a new xbox one with games and gold membership along with  few other things with the $700 i received today. Also the gift cards can spent right away as soon as activation is complete. no waiting. Remember Sam's club gift cards can be used at walmart and walmart.com aswell

Hope someone will enjoy this is as much as me. My ps4 might collect a little dust for the next few weeks while i break in the xbox one now lol.

Wish they didn't do the gimmick of releasing moderately better phones every year to make people think they have to spend another $600 so they can browse Facebook and play shit games like Clash of Clans in a slightly clearer resolution.

There's suppose to be some kind of $200 credit towards a purchase on samsung.com too that can go along with this. verizon/sprint worst carriers and service in history. I had the BBB personally call me about my complaint, then sprint drops charges and personally apologizes to me. Verizon some of the worst customer service. Can't speak for U.S. Cellular. I like my truly unlimited everything t-mobile. Heard the edge models overheat within 10min., while in a gear vr.

They need to release a new phone every year because every year people need to buy new phones. This is true even if you don't need to upgrade.

No, every year people don't need to buy new phones. Think of it like Microsoft Windows. If they didn't release something new and polished every few years, even though we don't need another fukn windows, "they" need to in order to keep being on top of the competition. I don't need windows fukn 10 even though they hand it to me for free, but they do shit to make me like make windows 10 only games and shit like that. We don't need it, they force us practically. Just like they did with the iphone IOS app compatibility and such, which is why I switch to android phones only, and never again a fukn apple.

I loved T-Mobile but they have the absolute worst coverage. This is why I switched to Verizon after 8 years.

If I have a 4 year old phone that I want to upgrade I want the newest phone I can get released this year. Not one that meets the requirements of jdmsoldier's acceptable release schedule. What I don't need is you to tell me what I/people need.

For your other point I don't know shit about apple but I am pissed that my Note 3 can't get Android 6 when I know it's specs are good enough. They want to force me to upgrade for Android 6 which is completely different (and it's bullshit) from offering new and better products each year.

semantics =/= point made

You didn't even do a good job of it either.

If you were talking to someone and they said "I need to go to the store and pick up milk." (doesn't matter what) Do you stop them and say hold up you don't need milk. You just want it. Or if they say "I need to go to the store to pick up milk." maybe you would reply you actually don't need to go to the store you could just milk a cow yourself. In conclusion, all of you guys can just go milk a cow.

Anyone buying an S6 right now is getting screwed, as the S7 info that was "leaked" claims that the microSD slot is back as well as IP67 water resistance.  Still no removable battery, but 2 out of 3 is enough for me.

is this with a 2 year agreement or a device payment plan?
AT&T would have to be payment plan. They officially axed discounted contract phones yesterday, and before that only company stores offered them since the middle of last year.

I just want an unlocked S6 so I can bring it to StraightTalk... They have gone for as low as $400 on eBay so I am very tempted because my S4 is 2 years old now... We are leaving Verizon and going to StraightTalk because we pay $364 a month for 4 lines (Which includes 15GB of Shared Data) but this will be brought down to $180 a month at StraightTalk... I just want me an S6 to go along with it...

The supreme court ruled that the 2 year plans were technically illegal and overpricing.

I still have the S4 as well. But I think it's stupid to pay $25 a month or whatever for a new phone on a "payment plan". So I get the right to pay retail for the phone over 24 months? Gee thanks.

i think he meant as in every year different people have their cell phone break or are out of contract and are offered a free or cheap newer phone for a renewed contract so each year there are a new set of people in the market for a cell phone. Not that ppl need to get the newest version of every iteration every year for no reason. Thou ppl like that do exist.

It's a load of horse shit.

With the Next 24 plan, you still can upgrade after 24 months BUT still pay for your old phone for the financed 30 months AND pay $15 month/line access charge. Any lesser plan and you have to trade in your phone to upgrade before 24 months.

Pricing comparably to what we have now for two phones(unlimited data/text, 700 minutes/mo +rollover) we pay $183.xx/mo.

With two phones (Note 5 and Iphone 6s as examples) on a shared 15GB plan, it's $179.xx/mo (Not including taxes) and still have to pay $50/mo for another 6 months after the two years are up to pay off the phones in full. And don't forget you have to pay the sales tax on the phones full cost up front (89.xx in this case).

uh i am pretty sure there is no supreme court or any court ruling on 2 year plans.

T-Mobile dropped two year plans last year, Sprint followed suit soon after, Verizon did it late last year, and AT&T is doing it this month. It had nothing to do with the government, just healthy corporate competition.

Its a bit of a bait and shuffle though, basically they no longer subsidize phones over 2 years but instead charge extra per month to subsidize phones, and hope you don't notice that after a year or two you are paying more overall.

True CAGers don't pay monthly for mobile service though, either we use prepaid $20/yr type services or the latest cag/slickdeals thing is ringplus, free mobile service - until they shut down cuz cheapasses is a terrible market to try and make money off.

I upgrade to the s6 edge plus about 6 months back and was very disappointed that there is no sd card slot, glad they're bringing it back.

I have an S5 and it was going to be my last Samsung when they said they were discontinuing the SD cards. If the rumors are true, I'll probably upgrade to an s7/note 6 later this year. Time to start hoarding Amazon credit...

That's what I get for not looking into a phone, I just figured every galaxy before had the option to expand the memory. I hope that is true, I'll be that guy that upgrades every year.

I just did the two year contract on the sprint one dollar iphone 6s deal 3 weeks ago at best buy. Pretty sure its not illegal

Would like a Samsung S5, but just got a Motorola Moto E recently and its working fine. Will see what the price is once the S7 comes out. Sure to find one cheap.

You got to know how to mingle the cellular companies.

I just got 2 LG G4's for absolutely nothing. I actually made money buying these two.

Purchased a Note 5 for little to nothing.

Purchased an S6 for 76 dollars.

Samsung also had promotions where I got 2 $50 Best Buy giftcards. a $100 certificate for the samsung store which I used to get a Gear VR for free. and I also got two holiday bundles $600 value for free which consisted of headphones, cell phone case, 2 portable quick chargers, 2 wireless quick charging pucks.

If you know how to work it, you won't be complaining about spending money on buying new devices....

Went to sams club today and the mobile reps haven't heard of this promo. The only thing they are offering is a $150 gift card with activation.

Chill the fk out. Didn't you say people need to buy new phones every year, whether they want to or not? So in a sense, aren't you contributing to the propaganda? Your note 3 is ancient and they will phase it out, but do you really need marshmallow? Nothing in my comment is telling you what to do. Nothing in my post said anything about a schedule pertaining to when you should or shouldn't buy a new phone. Those are all words from your own comments. You aren't important enough to me, for me to give a shit.

I have a Huawei Ascend Mate 2, which in 2014 was the longest lasting battery phone, and even now, only a few other phones can currently can match the battery life. Yes, my phone is still able to upgrade to marshmallow, so that's a few more years added to the 2 already on it for my phones life. I still haven't updated to it yet, cause I don't see any need as everything is working fine, and there no app restrictions I've come across.

If your gonna buy a fukn phone, just buy it already, stop wasting your breath on nonsense.

Intentional or not you sure make this sound like you get credits on your account due to technicalities or others schemes. Even if not, everyone could clearly not do whatever you do... Unless your phone bill is 400 a month in instalments.

Just read rumors on the iPhone 7, and they're supposedly getting rid of the headphone jack.... but don't worry they will make a lightning plug converter. (Sold separately)

That will break every few months like the charging cables and be obsolete in 3 years, just like all of those radios with built in iPod/iPhone charging docks that are cluttering up Goodwill now.

Can u please explain?

Was the samsung s5 the last model to have a micro SD card along with a removable battery? Its been a long time, but like the HTC droid incredible back in the day. Is there any great HTC phones?

When did the Supreme Court ruled 2 year plans illegal?

Yeah, I think the Note 4 still had them as well. But the S6/Note 5 didn't.

Look at his profile, he claims he's famous and works for NBC. Either he's got showbiz influence to hold over their heads when he cons them into getting free products, or everything he wrote is a lie. I'd wager on the latter.

I have the Note 4, and it has both. Have a 128GB microSD card, and the phone only cost me $50. I ported my number to Ting, and my bill is $25-$30 a month. I'm good with that. But yeah, definitely won't be upgrading for a long time.

Just because someone lists their occupation for a major network, doesn't mean they are making bank. Even if they are, it is none of our business (worry about yourself). Could be a NBC affiliate for all we know. It's my line of work, you may have it good in the industry, or you may not.

Well, he also says famous in this profile. And technically, affiliates are privately owned, so anyone working for them doesn't actually work for the network. I used to work as the audio tech and board operator for an ABC and Fox affiliate that ran out of the same control room. And yeah, the pay sucked.

There are no technicalities or any schemes. It was simply done by following protocol. Nothing shady about it. Everyone could clearly do what I did even if you didn't have a verizon account. There was a thread on another forum where people were opening a verizon account, getting the instant savings, getting the LG rebates and paying off their DDP within the week and closing their account and were paying nothing out of pocket. Verizon works on a device payment plan now so there is no contract. You can buy a phone, pay it off the next day and close your account with no repercussions.

I don't work for NBC anymore. I am self employed now but still famous. ;) I don't get showbiz influence on anything I purchase and if you had any knowledge how networks or businesses work then you would know there are hundreds if not thousand of departments within a corporation. There are departments that do specifically merchandise, broadcasting, finance, etc. all within the NBC umbrella. And within those separate departments each has it's own finance department, etc. It's a whole web network and just because I work(ed) at NBC doesn't mean i'm in the show business side of the business. I'm sure you knew that though.

And I didn't con anyone into getting free products. I'll gladly explain.

If you go under verizon you'll see that if you open an account or open a new line you get an instant $300 credit when you trade in a working smartphone. You can buy a cheap trackphone from Best Buy for $10 dollars and trade that in. There is a huge list of phones on verizon's trade in section and the $10 burner phones are included. So again, nothing shady...

Let's say an LG G4 cost 600.

$600 - $300 = $300

Now there was a promotion through LG a month or so ago where you got a $200 rebate by submitting your receipt.

$300 - $200 = $100

So now I have a brand new LG G4 for $100 dollars. I did this twice. So I have two brand new LG G4 phones that cost me $200 out of pocket. Sold one of those new LG G4 phones for $400 and now I have a profit of $200 dollars and a brand new LG G4 phone.

Also some phones received a text message when you activated the device. The text message gave you a unique code that you can type in on the trade in device page on Verizon's website. But with the unique code you instantly get $300 and don't have to purchase any device. You just have to trade in a working smartphone, and in this case, the $10 burner phones are eligible and on the verizon list. I got two unique codes.

So I actually profited $200 + $300 unique code #1 and +$300 unique code #2 from both of my LG G4 devices.

With that profit I purchased a NOTE 5 using the same method. I opened a new line but this time you got an instant savings of $400 off during black friday. So I only have to pay around $320 toward the Note 5 to pay off the rest.

The next day I went and purchased the S6 by opening a new line and trading in another burner phone from best buy and got $300 off. But for some reason i'm not sure if there was another deal or something but my total left to pay off the device was $76 dollars. I think the S6 might have been on sale around black friday which is why it was so cheap.

In addition to buying these two Samsung devices both devices were eligible for the Samsung website promotions. Each phone received a $50 giftcard by submitting the receipt. Each phone received a $100 samsung store promotion which I used to buy some odds and ends and the Gear VR which I got all for free. And in addition to that the phones were both eligible for a $350 holiday gift pack that consisted of either an expensive pair of headphones, a wireless charger puck and an external battery charger or an expensive crystal case, a wireless charger puck and an external battery charger. I received both.

So no shady business was done whatsoever. All legit, all part of the promotions and all done opening new lines which isn't illegal or frowned upon. 1 Verizon account is allowed to have 10 separate lines on the account.

My bull is nowhere near $400 a month. I pay $160 a month for my wife and my devices. $40 each for phone plan and $100 for 19GB data. I have an employee discount where I save 25%. So I pay about $80 after taxes on my data plan.

So there you have it. Think what you want and try to knock me with what you THINK you know. Enjoy your day and I'll enjoy my G4, Note 5 and S6 that cost me absolutely nothing and I ended up scoring $$$.

*Tips hat*

I said G'day!

Sorry, havent look into phone since the era of 2 year contracts. Im on the prepaid plans now. Question, Best Buy phones with 2 year plan, is not the same promo at Verizon stores? Can u explain the new no contact phone? When u buy a new phone and since they no longer do 2 year plans, dont u have to select a plan when purchase the phone?
