If your going to just put games on it. Either get an ssd (expensive but fast), a sshd (faster then a standard hard drive but more expensive), 7200rpm hard drive (slower but cheaper), 5400 rpm hard drive (slow but cheap).
If your only going to install games on it. You may want to get an ssd. Since your only going to be playing a few games at a time. A 240 or 500gb hard drive will hold a lot of games. Plus ssd's help speed up load times by a lot.
If you want to use it for storage also. Then just get either a standard hard drive or an sshd (hybrid hard drive with ssd onboard). For brand names. Western Digital, Seagate, HGST, Toshiba are good brands. Each drive has its shares of failures that vary from person to person.
