Walmart Shipping Pass $50 a year; Unlimited 3 day shipping

This seems fairly pointless... pretty much anything you buy from WM has a free ship to store option. I mean, yeah, it's usually longer than 3 days but still... it's free.

when you need it RIGHT NOW (well 3 days) and want to use state of the art website (for 1997) come to walmart.com (and pay $50/year)

don't worry, they will soon upgrade it with Walmart Prime - you get to see youtube ads on their site while you shop.  Also free copies of Donald Trump's books and Ayn Rand e-books, with Walmart Prime!

The problem with Walmart (at least the closest to my house) is they have 30 checkout lanes and only three of them staffed. That pushes everyone to the self-checkouts. Most of the people using the self-checkouts look like they could not even pass a basic reading and math test, let alone successfully navigate something they may only use once every couple of weeks. Plus, by not allowing a customer to override a simple mistake (yes, I know it cuts down on theft), the lines come to a grinding halt, while a completely slow moving obese Walmart employee saunters over to see what could possibly be the matter with the system. Wait for them to override the error without figuring out what happened only to see the customer make another mistake and start the whole process over again.

Having said all of that, paying the $50 for shipping is actually a really good deal if you order items that you do not use coupons on (e.g., clothes, TVs, Blu-rays, etc.). This is because their site-to-store shipping is terrible! If you are lucky enough to find an employee staffing the pick up counter, they can never find your order. Funny how they always come back smelling like smoke after being gone for 8 minutes. WTF.

Walmart is indeed closing 269 stores worldwide in the year 2016, 154 of those are in the U.S. alone. They're gonna have to do better than this to bounce back.

Yeah the headaches and time wasted are free. Gas is extra.

Even if you could teleport, and no one is in line, and there is an employee behind the pick up desk, and your items were already sitting on the counter, it would still take 10 minutes to process your order.

Not that I am signing up for this. I don't order enough from Walmart. But if I did I sure would rather pay $50/yr than put up with the hassle of picking crap up at that store. :)

lol.

Site to Store also sucks... I always have to wait in line with about 6 people doing refunds because they won't open spare an extra employee to run that.  Takes too long.  Really annoying.

102 of those u.s. stores are walmart express stores that were a pilot program. those were much smaller experimental stores and not big box. they also have plans to open an additional 300 stores worldwide by 2017. so how do they need to bounce back? Just cause wallstreet thinks they should have made an extra billion? they make billions of dollars every year and all of you make it sound like they're in the toilet. haters gonna hate. and I do not own stock or work at a walmart.

Thanks OP! There's been shootings and gang rapes at my local Walmart so I don't go there anymore
Lol, you talk about it so casually, like:

"Hey Dad, just picked up these razors and toothpaste at Walmart"

"That's it F.R.? Why did it take so long?"

"Just ran into a couple of gangs shooting each other in the parking lot, then a woman was being raped in the gaming aisle so I had to double back and take another path."

"Oh, yeah, I saw the same thing last week, I had to walk around the entire store just to find an employee that wasn't decapitated."

My Site to Store is its separate counter in the back. Not the main customer service counter in the front. It's always fairly empty.

I hope that this service doesn't mean Site to Store is going away. It's useful when you want something from Walmart that's online but not in-store. Also, it's nice cause you don't need to navigate a huge store yourself to shop for what you want. Sure you still have to drive to Walmart and perhaps wait in line, but it's FREE.

Walmart has its uses. I hope it doesn't go away. More competition is always better for us consumers.

This is the dumbest thing ever, really? Prime is movies/tv, music, free 2 day shipping, and now games savings too. Did Walmart really have to do this? This kind of pointless, and for the people who shop on Walmart I'm sure the 5 to 7 days it takes is just fine, compared to spending 50 bucks but 3 days. Also Walmart owns vudu, could they not have made that part of this deal?

Also prime for me and many others is 49.99, make this crap more irrelevant

Walmart will become the next KMart in the next 10 years.

They rarely price games competitively and they don't seem to be able to keep track of their inventory.

Valid points. I actually used the WMs at my parents area all the time, they're great. The ones closer to Chicago are pure trash though.

Unfortunately, you get used to it. I live in the South Bronx, and whenever I hear gunfire outside my window, I just brush it off as "just another night in the South Bronx". I learned that as long as you don't do anything stupid and draw attention to yourself, you'll be fine.

They have ours at the photo pickup area, probably to avoid that exact situation.

Forget that they are OOS. You are not even assured your going to get the item even if your lucky to get it. Love the stories about in store pickup and WM goofing the order completely.

Cant even offer 2 day shipping
Wal-Mart sucks, but who really cares 2 days vs 3 days? My Amazon shipments usually take much more than 3 days anyway, as they don't always process them right away and then they just get handed off to Fedex Smartpost most of the time anyway (which basically means 3-5 days total, rather than 2 days).

That being said, paying for "free shipping" or for discounts is stupid - at least Amazon offers prime STREAMING. I guess that's something, but not really for those of us that already have Netflix (or if you are like me and have both Netflix and Hulu+ as well as about 1500 movies on blu-ray).

Wal-Mart is still like a mad-house though - at least all the ones around here.

The difference with KMART, from what I observed - is that most of their locations were in the ghetto, not convenient, or in an older/decaying shopping center.

In the 1980's/1990's Wal-Mart took some prime real estate while KMART just twiddled their thumbs and let their stores just rot decade after decade. Now Wal-Mart is behind as far as the internet experience goes, but as far as brick and mortar - unless brick and mortar entirely disappears (which I doubt) I don't quite see them going the KMART route.

Speaking of which they goofed on my recent site-to-store order. I had ordered Shaun White Skatebording for PS3 over a week ago. It got to the store on Thurday and I went in on Friday. Long story short they sent Shaun White Snowboarding (PS3) instead. Opted for a refund to my original form of payment.

I'm confused. What is the news here?

I did a Google search and saw this was offered in July. What is different now? (Link to random story I found)

Let me know and thanks!

Side note, this is part of the reason Walmart is getting its butt kicked right now. BB offers GCU and Amazon offers 2 day shipping plus something similar to GCU.

I know this isn't for just games, but why would anyone be interested in this? What is the appeal?

Thanks.
