I had planned to put more time into Code Vein this weekend but those plans are now officially on hold as my Death End Re:Quest 2 LE for PS4 arrived from Ifi today. The messenger bag is far larger than I thought it would be and while not the highest quality bag, the image print is really well done. It also came with a bonus 10th anniversary Nep Nep card and face mask that I will not be wearing in public... except maybe at a Con.

Package Contents:

Between this package and the Azur Lane LE, I am quite pleased with Ifi's offerings and will continue to buy them for the games I am interested because I am sucker for Compile Heart trash.

I am considering AL Crosswave.  should I buy the base on sale and wait for the DLC to drop in price or just go for the deluxe as it is already a good value?

I ordered Ys celceta ps4 since amazon warehouse deals had a bunch listed for under $30 last week.  I picked the vg one since it had what seemed like a dinger description.  It just arrived yesterday and it appears brand new with at most a slightly dented bottom corner (which is pretty unnoticeable at a glance) so not bad at all for 24.  Glad it worked out as I saw they were 30 new at best buy and other places semi recently. I only just played it on the vita I want to say a year or 2 ago so I won't be replaying it any time soon.  But it will be nice to play it again someday with a controller and such (granted I likely could have done that by playing it on the vitatv).  Here's the descrip of the one I ordered which they had more in stock of if anyone else wants to roll the dice and or missed out on new copies.  Very Good - Missing shrink-wrap, activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Item is missing insert. Small mark on disk. Small cosmetic damage on item case. Item may come repackaged.  It was 26.49 when I ordered it.

I really like the deluxe edition for Azur Lane and have no regrets spending $100 on it and $54 is an absolute steal for what you get in the box. The game itself is just okay and I cannot weigh in on the DLC since I had my fill chasing the Plat but I did enjoy my time with it. The question you should be asking yourself is how big of an AL fan are you? If you just want the game then get the standard and wait for the DLC to go on sale, it you want some good quality merch to take up space in your house then I'd go for the DE.

Oh hell, the difference between base and DE is only $30. If you're a fan of the franchise and if you can swing the extra cash, then yeah, DE all the way.

Looking at the mini Shimakaze figure reminded me of the Chara figs that came with the Tales of Berseria CE. My preorder of that CE was mixed up and then cancelled since there were no more in stock without so much as an "oh sorry about that". Looking it up on ebay and seeing the prices was a bad idea and just rubbing salt into it.

I don't know if bamco's online store still sells the ce's but they typically put them on sale or at least did up to xillia 2 for around 30% off.  So that could be an option for berseria if they have any still.  They even used to do sales where you get increasing percentages off on the ce's the more you buy.

Is there any way to redeem a Nintendo Switch digital code for a game expansion that is from a different region (ie UK expansion pass code on a US game)? Sorry if this is the wrong thread, wasn't sure where else to ask.

You'd probably need to switch you eshop region to the UK, redeem the code, and then switch back.  I've never done it, but people have been switching regions to buy stuff for ages now... shouldn't be too hard to google an answer.

This. Keep in mind you can't have any eShop balance when you do this (though gold coins are fine).

I’ve been trying the Code Vein demo to see if it’s something I wanna pick up while it’s on sale, and now I feel super chuuni.

Yes, I ended up ordering Death End re;Quest 1 &2 plus the AL limited editions from the IIFY store.  The value for the money was too good.

The Iffy store's Holiday Sale is live. Free shipping at $57.99. Free Top Nep mask at $60.

Some of the deals:
Arc of Alchemist (PS4/Switch) $14.99
Death End re:Quest 2 (PS4) $34.99
date a live (PS4) $24.99
Azur Lane:Cross wave (PS4) $24.99

https://www.iffysonlinestore.com/

Well now that I know their LE's go on sale, I just feel less inclined to buy them on release.

That said they are very nice limited editions. I personally recommend the Date A Live and Azur Lane ones. Those Azur Lane metal prints look pretty nice too.

JRPGs on sale at BestBuy (credit /u/V_burgh):

  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster - $19.99 - Switch

  • Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age - $19.99 - Switch

  • Trials of Mana - $19.99 -  Switch

Grabbed these sunday when the sale started.  The demo for Trials of Mana sold me on that even though I already have collection of mana.  FF XII will be my first time trying it.  It gets compared to Xenoblade... which is a major plus.  FF X/X-2... I'm not a fan of how linear it is... tried playing the vita version... but figure for the switch I'll give it one last shot as I enjoyed the story... just hated how on rails it was and wasn't ready to play an rpg like that.  Really hyped for Trials of Mana.  Nicely it's another game where the demo data imports to the full game.  So no time wasted on the demo.  Hyrule Warriors AOC was also great with it's demo data import.

NEO:TWEWY looks good to me.  That'll be an easy buy.

Trials of Mana was a nice surprise this year. Lowkey looks beautiful and the gameplay is straightforward fun.

It's ok, I guess. I'm glad they put attention into remaking it, but some of the charm is missing from the original. But it's much better than, say, the Lufia remake. F that game.

It felt like a Super Nintendo era RPG converted directly to 3D, both the good and the bad. Overall though I am glad they made it and Square didn't even charge full price for it which is the most un-Square thing ever.

Actually been getting the itch to do a second playthrough on PS5 for the higher resolution over my PS4 Slim.

10-2 is pretty open compared to 10. That's actually to its detriment if you want to go for the true ending which is horribly tedious and easy to miss.  You need an actual step by step guide to follow.  And I mean in game step by step as you can trigger a scene on the mihen highroad to mushroomrock road intersection just by stepping too far losing out on the true ending.

I never felt like 10 was all that linear since you can backtrack for sidequests throughout the game, have the option of killing the chocobo eater if you knock it down into the gorge, blitz ball which I sunk about 20 hours into or so, and the optional dungeons here and there like the cavern near mushroom rock road and the other cavern for Yojimbo by mt gagazet.

I agree; I really found 10 to be less linear and more parabolic as it arced from my hand to the trash can.

Happy thanksgiving cags!

In my time off I've finished up 13 sentinels.  I like vanillaware stuff and found the quality artwork I'd expect from them.  I just found the battle/"destruction" gameplay to be largely uninteresting and a necessary chore to unlock all of the characters' story.  The plot I view to be somewhat messy (hard not to be with all the elements at play) but still engaging and well-delivered.  I'd call it good but not great.  Worthwhile at the current $30 sale price, for sure.  If you're someone who has nostalgia or affinity for retro scifi stuff I can see how it could rise to the levels of greatness some have mentioned here.

Trying to figure out what to play over the next week. Next things on my radar are DQXI S on pc (Dec 3rd) and cyberpunk (10th).

All the English Disgaea 6 voice actors are announcing their roles today. Seems kinda early for a Summer 2021 release.

Oddly enough I'm the opposite with this game. I hate visual novels and the previews of this game seemed real boring. But the story is hyper engaging off the bat and I treat the battles as a respite when I feel tired of dialogue.

Nearing 80% completion and yet to see the finale, but it's already my GOTY at this point.

Trials of Mana was pretty decent. The story was near super cliche and not very good, but the battle and class systems were really good. I liked the added passive skills. Also the fighting system was leagues better than the original. Still a solid 7/10 game. Nothing amazing but well worth it at $20. PS4 is likely recommended with some slowdown noticed on my Switch in portable mode.

I'm actually playing on my Switch Yu-no, and it's kind of rough. I know it's a remake of an older game and wow does it feel like one. It seems like there is a million more actions than is necessary. I liked the classic art and feel this one still has very pretty art for the characters especially. It feels like an eroge game sometimes with the eroge removed. It feels slow and the story and characters are not super enthralling yet, but I'm going to beat it and will give my thoughts on it. So far it's trending towards a 6.5 or lower/10. I have to say though the music is very good at times. I love the downtown theme.

Those are awesome, and I can relate. I was contemplating getting a limited edition or two from the Iffy Store sale, but I'm instead probably going to spend that money on some SD Gunpla. The shrieking girl in me can't resist the Hello Kitty crossover:

https://www.silicone...e-off-in-japan/

Also picking up the Sangoku Soketsuden Zhou Yu Akatsuki and Ma Chao Barbatos, and the Knight Gundam and Knight Unicorn that can combine into a centaur. Hoping these will put me back in the mood to put my backlog of models together, or at least convince me to finally put the five million stickers on my RG Unicorn lol

They didn't have Nezuko!  ; ;;;

Darn, it looks like the sale is over (from Wed.)  They were $11.99 each and one was $6.99 with the monthly cert bonus.  So three came out to $34.33 after tax which was not bad considering the $14.99 price on popular Figpins that sell out.  I don't like paying full price for these but I love them on sale/clearance.

There's a pretty big sale going on at Video Games Plus right now.  Lots of niche/Japanese titles on sale.  Keep in mind their prices are Canadian dollars and only use Paypal when checking out.
