Denuvo DRM

There's an interesting article on Kotaku about this

I searched through the comments but couldn't find an answer to this; what about installing from a steam backup? Would I have to re-download the game for Denuvo to recognize it? Or does it piggyback on the steam authentication again once I go online?

I understood it that it encrypts the DRM solution that the game is using. So you shouldn't have to do anything after restoring from a backup. Since it's anti tamper, not DRM, there are no limitations to the user nor do you have to go online. After restore, the game should just run providing the DRM it uses does not have any restrictions.
