Couldn't find a thread on here and was looking for some more people to play with. Jumping back in to fighting games more seriously after many many years of not touching them really at all and so online is a crapshoot of either shutouts or getting destroyed.

Post your PSN, mains and estimated skill level and we can talk Street Fighter and try to get some CAG fights going!

Ryuukishi - scrub skill :)

Are the servers working now? I couldn't get in at all last night.
It is sad that I have just given up for this week on trying online haha My new PS4 fightstick won't be in until today and my extra parts I am modding it with won't be here until this weekend at the earliest so I actually have been randomly playing 3rd strike a whole bunch on the 360 to get my fix in and using my old Madcatz TE2 stick and get back in the swing of playing on a stick again.

I only have a handful of games for PS4 but I'm already kinda regretting getting both Destiny and SF5 on disc instead of PSN. Once Street Fighter adds dailies, that's a lot of disc handling if I'm playing both on a daily basis. :p

Oh man I stopped playing Destiny finally over a month ago. That was a religious experience for me basically every day hahah. Finally got bored it with but I actually had it on X1 and PS4! o_O

Yeah same here, I've been playing Destiny on 360 since launch, then upgraded to Xbone, then switched jobs and a bunch of people on my new team were already playing on PS4, so now I'm on both. :p

I've considered getting it, but I was turned off big time by SFIV (never played any but the original release). Did they fix the gameplay in V?

Not quite sure what you mean? SFIV, to me, has some of the best fighting game mechanics to date. What specifically about the gameplay put you off? For the most part the gameplay in SFV is still the same Street Fighter but with the added V-Trigger and their respective moves and then of course all the character changes along with tweaked frame data for their moves and combos and what not.

The controls felt very clunky to me compared to the VS/alpha series, and it didn't feel nearly as smooth, it just seemed....off. Granted I only played the first 2 weeks the game was out, and had heard it was balanced and patched a TON

Hah yeah it was patched more than a COD game haha

There will always be an inherent difference though because all the games prior (save for the rare exception like EX) were all 2D and used sprites and had quite a different feel. I suppose I do see what you mean then about a more clunky feel especially when I think of what was prior. I would say though that you would get over that once you gave it more of a shot and the game did get smoother in general as the years passed.

Unless you are playing SFV strictly competitively for Tourneys and online play I would say steer clear of it for now until they patch in more content later down the road however because right now there is very little to do in 'single player.'

I'm 'holdthephone' on CFN. Always down for long sets, win or lose. I play Ken, Bronze/SuperBronze.

That's the kinda review I needed, thanks! I will hold off until they patch it a bit and bring out the extra content, plus it will be cheaper.

Just got this today, PSN is KobeLake24  Can't wait to get off work go home and master

Blanka.

5 or 10 match Battle Lounges are the best part of this game. I found a Gold ranked Chun that was kind enough not to quit on me and I learned a ton. I don't think I'll touch Ranked again until they fix the load times.

if ya'll could share your CFN name i'd appreciate it. i play on PC so i have to search your fighter ID, not your PSN.

My CFN is sirfragalot

I am probably uber noob skill so I am playing until I find a character I like at the moment.

How exactly does ranked play work, like if I get ranked so low, will I get matched with people at my skill level of nothing? Deciding what is the best way to learn because I suck at fighters but I love them so I would like to get better.

Thanks Broly for the thread

I play mostly PC and currently learning Ken.
CFN : Deadfox

currently sitting at Bronze  have thankfully been able to learn a lot being a mod on JWong's twitch stream

That is how ranked should work yeah, you should be getting matched up with people around the same level. Doesn't always pan out that way.

I suggest if you really want to get better at the game touch up on Street Fighter 101 in the training mode. If you are just a casual player there is a lot to learn about footsies, punishes, target combos etc that the game itself does not teach you. Hop into training mode, head over to Shoryuken's forums and master the basics. Then I would say once you have a good understanding of the game fight it out with your main character in Survival and see if you can progressively work your way up from beating easy up to hard. Early on in the lower difficulties you can really challenge yourself too by doubling down (starting with like no health but getting a huge boost to points).

On top of Shoryuken's website I also would recommend watching some streams of Pro players and competitions. Those same people also have some pretty helpful youtube channels. Hell, Mike Ross and Gootecks' youtube is one of my favorite on the damn internet, they are just some funny guys.

Who have you guys been maining this time around? My boy Sagat isn't in here (yet, isnt announced yet but come next year or so I bet we will see him) and so I have to look elsewhere. Of course you have the staple with Ryu but I honestly am not digging his counter. Even on counter his recovery frames after are just too high and so it is rarely all that useful. Rashid I have found to be an absolute monster. His mobility is off the charts and he has a great Crush Counter. Really good at zoning or rushdown depending on who you are matched up against.

Any word on the release date of the update?

Been holding off playing for a bit until they put in that tutorial mode and such. Not that I don't want to play it but I would rather go through the tutorial mode as I also learn by watching videos on how to play the game. I always sucked at fighters and I figured might as well learn the genre (well how to be better than uber noob) since I buy enough of them, lol.

Still no word unfortunately and at this point everyone is just assuming at the very end of the month.

Also, I have been salty about no Sagat in V so he is randomly on my mind sometimes during my sketching time at night haha.

Thomaticus    -  Ken (medium skill)

Sometimes I upload some of my fights.

Here's a higher ranked coward running off  - https://youtu.be/Ctk7slkW79c

and another of me getting lucky -  https://youtu.be/8fwelejRoow

Gah rage quitters are the absolute worst!

And damn man you are lucky that Karen on round two didn't maximize that punish at the very end otherwise you would have been toast!

Good stuff

Everyone who's not planning to purchase Alex: Make sure you do his story mode while he's free and get dat easy 10,000 fight money. :)

Man, I like Alex I just never play with charge characters so some of his moves throw me off a tad. Guile is next too and he is a charge so looks like I will be waiting a bit longer for someone I want. Ibuki... I am looking at you girl.

What a day. I reached Gold league after going on a seven game win streak, then I beat Hell survival mode.

The only serious trophies I have left are do 300 critical art finishes, and earn one million fight money. I have about 630,000. Then I have to do simple stuff like collect and watch replays.

I beat stage 98 Nash with no health pixels left, and I was given a second low health recovery in a row. Thankfully I was able to beat 99 Chun Li without being touched, and was given full health to face 100 Ryu. Ryu was pretty easy. I used Mika.

Any fight stick recommendations?

Newegg is throwing in the game for free with some sticks.

Interested in the Razer Panthera
