Assassin's Creed Rogue: $9.99 at Best Buy for Xbox 360 version ($7.99 w/ GCU)

CAGiversary!
Thought I'd post this in case anyone else was interested. I finished this before: definitely one of my favorite entries in the series for its interesting story, more naval combat, and playing as a Templar! No word on a next-gen remake or port, though with the Xbox 360 version we can cross our fingers it will be backwards-compatible down the line.

Price is currently only valid for the Xbox 360 version, but it's not too long ago that this version's clearance price was listed as $26.99:

Alternately, amazon has the Xbox 360 version for $9.99 (as of 3/9), with the the PS3 version for $10.99. Still a good price imo if you don't have gamer's club, I'll post both links below:

Thanks OP

With no word of remaster, it may be time to pick this up.
I don't know. They said they wouldn't have a new AC this year, so they may end up porting it for the holiday season instead. Ubi's sneaky like that.

That said, thanks for posting OP. My younger brother's a big fan, I'll go see if he wants it.

Played every console AC but this one and Syndicate so far. Getting AC fatigue but heard this was better than Unity. Can't decide one way or the other right now.

Has anyone heard of this is supposed to get backwards compatibility? I bought it either way, but it sure would be nice

I would actually love if they brought this to next gen since there won't be one this year and I haven't played this yet.

Fun game.  The narrative is not as interesting as Black Flag, but the game itself has better mechanics.

For better or for worse, the gameworld feels like it was cut-and-paste from III and Black Flag.  The main campaign is noticeably shorter than its predecessors and its side missions are basically just collect-athon fetch quests.  But if you enjoyed those two previous titles you should have some fun here - so as long as you know how eerily similar it all plays.

Great deal, OP.

I definitely enjoyed Rogue and Syndicate more than Unity. I was also losing interest in the series (I played Unity before Rogue) but Rogue's narrative kept me going. I think they did a good job setting up Shay's falling out with the Assassins and once he joined the Templars, I was really into it.

Basically, it comes down to two questions: 1) did you like Black Flag and 2) does playing a Templar sound interesting? I think the latter puts an interesting twist: Assassins using the same techniques against you, hiding in the city waiting to pounce, and putting a twist on side missions like Assassin Interceptions (you have to actually protect a target by tracking down the Assassins first). The naval combat and controls are close enough to Assassin's Creed 4, but with some marked additions (like other ships can actually try to board yours, which is pretty cool, and exploring the Arctic - just don't swim in the water too long.

Assassin's Creed Rogue and Syndicate are both games I enjoyed for different reasons: With Syndicate, I really liked London, the two lead characters, and the gameplay's markedly improved (ESPECIALLY from Unity)...but I thought the plot was rather straight-forward, with the Templars (imo) reduced back into being moustache-twirling villains. Rogue has the naval gameplay and the more compelling story.

Thanks for the info! I loved Black Flag. Playing as a Templar sounds interesting, but I guess that depends on how the mechanics change (story wise doesn't really matter to me too much). The way you describe it makes it sound pretty fun tracking down assassins. Got a BB gift card so I'll probably grab this and look to get Syndicate when it also inevitably drops way down in price.

Thanks OP

With so many companies rehashing collections of older games on the PS4 and Xbox One, I wouldn't be shocked to see an AC collection one day.

Was willing to buy this used for $5 from Gamestop in one of their 4 for $20 sales so I guess $8 new is a pretty good deal.

Thanks OP. Got one but couldn't do store pickup since none of the Best Buy near me has it. Paid $3 for shipping but it's still worth it.

I'd really like to pick this up on 360, but I just have this feeling it'll be a Games With Gold title sooner or later.

This is still $9.99 and available at BB.  I just wanted to say that I received a Limited Edition 360 Copy!  Really good deal especially after GCU!
