J.S. Joust is a local multiplayer no-graphics contact sport video game created by Douglas Wilson that's part of the SportsFriends game collection (however this game is not available for Windows!). The objective of the game is to be the last man standing. This is done by players trying to cause a rapid motion in their opponent's controller (typically by smacking the controller): a PlayStation Move. During the game, music from Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg concertos is played at a slow tempo. In relation to a player being knocked out, there is a tolerance of motion the controller will allow that is linked to the speed of the music. As the speed of the music increases, so does the motion tolerance, which allows players to move more rapidly without setting off their controller.

Available for PS3, PS4, OSX and Linux.

I have had a ridiculous amount of fun playing this game and staying up into all hours of the night. I first got a chance to play this at Youmacon, an ever-growing anime/video game convention in Detroit. It took me almost a year to figure out what the game was called. I've found that for most people, the game is pretty intuitive. After watching a few rounds, it's easy to jump in and play right away (but a bit harder to master). Unfortunately, this game isn't the cheapest if you want to play with the maximum amount of controllers. A used Playstation move controller can be scored for $15 a pop at Gamestop (less if you have a powerup card or coupon). This game is worth it. Every penny. I'm planning on having a themed birthday party around this game using the gym at my church. I do recommend that you warn people who are interested in playing this game. It's easy to get hurt or accidentally hurt someone else. I accidentally slapped my buddy in the face while trying to hit his controller! And another of my friend's accidentally got punched in the face by a girl on his very first try... Ouch!
