thanks for this

you guys think metroid trilogy is ever going to go back on sale or should I just bite the bullet and get it out of the way for 20?

Bought 3D Outrun from the web store and it's much better/faster than the 3DS eShop, though the checkout page says it'll start downloading automatically after purchase. A few minutes later, I saw a note on my 3DS to put it to sleep to let it download and after a few minutes, it was done. This is well done for not having been designed to do this kind of thing from the start.

Edit: I got credited for 3D Outrun like it was at full price, so it made the cut for the $5-$10 tier of Gold Point rewards. If you've NES/SNES/N64 VC games you could upgrade to Wii U on the cheap, this might be a good time to take care of that before they fix the loophole.

So I just saw on nintendo.com that the only way to earn gold points for the my nintendo service is to buy DIGITAL copies of game. That really kills the new program for me as I never buy nintendo games digitally.

me too

the only game I plan to buy digital is metroid trilogy for obvious reasons

and dlc for MK and SSB

It's not that I don't like digital but Nintendo and the wii u make me too nervous about purchased digital content

It just launched today, so it'll take a bit for there to be new releases that have a code in the box.

As expected of Frisky-senpai! (Though there's gonna be a lot of discussion that doesn't concern me since I don't have a Wii U. Just like the PSN thread.)

Seems that you won't get Gold Points from My Nintendo for buying games under $5 if the missions are correct about that.
Yeah, this is totally better than Club Nintendo.

It's too early for me to say, but I am loving it a lot more then Club Nintendo so far.

Edit: I'm just going to edit this in, thanks frisky for all the work you do here.

I lurk these the Nintendo threads but you've been pretty great.

Yeah, being able to get points to use for some things without spending money is nice.
But Club Nintendo did the same thing though. And you got coins for every purchase you made, including physical games.

Up until now there's been no indication that they will offer coins for retail purchases. I seriously hope that changes soon since I always buy physical given the opportunity.

They have said that they're working on retail purchases. They'll be growing the service as time goes on.

Club Nintendo had almost nothing of note as a reward for the vast majority of its last few years outside of the year-end rewards and the burst of offerings leading up to the shut down. The few good things outside of that were very limited items.

Good idea, it's way easier to check one thread than hunt down two. So many changes with MyNintendo and a ton of Pokemon sprites in the Badge Arcade. What an interesting day for the 3DS!

So there we will be getting coins for physical purchases in the future?  Of course there's nothing I want that's coming out other than AA 6 and the new Pokemon game.

As always, Frisky's awesome for maintain sales threads!

Next up will be merging this with the PSN one for one huge "Digital Video Games Deals" thread.

On topic, those who used to be Club Nintendo members are apparently getting e-mailed codes for 200 bonus Platinum coins.

I get why they don't do below $5 for eShop stuff, but they could at least make it accumulative....

Too bad DLC and themes are not also included.

Points will automatically be used in the order in which in which you received them and will expire after 6 months if not used. If you or we terminate your Nintendo Account, if your Nintendo Account or linked Nintendo Network ID is banned, or if all or a portion of the Rewards Program is terminated or discontinued for any reason, your earned Points will become invalid and unusable.
Hmm wonder how well they will be about enforcing stuff this time around.

Platinum Points received within an application on an iOS device cannot be redeemed in the same application on an Android device, and vice versa. Points are redeemable on the Website regardless of the operating system on which they were received.
Hmm so I guess they are saying the points spend in the app are like IAPs, but you can still use the website regardless of your OS.

Noticed that the points you earn through Miitomo can be paired with the normal Platinum Points to spend on rewards that require them, which means I'm less than 200 points away from getting the My Nintendo Picross game.

I bought "The Legend of Dark Witch 2" and got nothing. I did get the "Sign in to Nintendo eShop (weekly)" bonus so my accounts are linked, and the purchase did show up in my "my Nintendo" account under receipts.

Maybe the glitch just works on the Sega 3D Classics, I can't try since I already own them.

EDIT: Welp, refreshing didn't work, but going to the main My Nintendo page shows I got 10 stars, must be discounted stuff that use to be $5+.

The tier is specifically $5 to $9.99. $4.99 doesn't count. I upgraded a couple of SNES and N64 I hadn't paid for yet on Wii U and got points for them quickly.

I don't know that the way it awards coins is necessarily a glitch, it could just be that the coin amounts are tied to the specific game and ignore sales. That's how Club Nintendo coins worked. Like for example getting a free copy of Pikmin 3 with Mario Kart 8 and turning that free copy into 60 coins.

I suppose this is what I get for making all those eShop purchases last week. I might try emailing customer support and seeing if I can get coins for those purchases, since they were technically after I linked my NNID to my (pre-created) My Nintendo account. Worst case scenario, I'm out 30 coins.

http://starfoxzero.nintendo.com/buy/

If you don't want Star Fox Guard, you can pre-order the digital version of Star Fox Zero by itself for $49.99 with an option of getting Star Fox Guard for $9.99 later on as a special discount. If you somehow don't want Star Fox Zero and just want Star Fox Guard, you can get that as a standalone for $14.99 with the option of getting Star Fox Zero later on for $44.99 as a special discount.

Has anyone redeemed WarioWare: Touched? And if so, does doing so award some Gold Coins, in the style of beautiful Club Nintendo reward-chaining?

1. What if you buy Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader, regular price of 29.99, on sale for $4.99. Will you get 30 coins?
2. Everyone only got 200 pre-regristration coins for miitomo right? I thought we were supposed to also get extra points for linking NNID with my nintendo before launch, but I guess not?
3. Anything stopping us from creating multiple accounts for easy platinum points? But then again according to my calculation we can get 365 coins per week, so maybe we can get everything with just one account? Besides the discounts.

I'm going to have a tough time earning gold. I've only got one or two virtual console upgrades left and the only DLC I want is Hyrule Warriors.

Apparently Nintendo is emailing out codes with 200 platinum points to email addresses attached to old club nintendo accounts. I haven't a code yet though.

Well I'm not sitting in a store all day and I'm not going to try again on my data. I'll try again tomorrow at work (on their shitty 3MB/min speed).

That sounds like one of those generic answers they give because they're constantly asked about it though. I could easily see them stick to digital only just like the email says "Earn points for interacting with Nintendo apps and services and digital game purchases".

Did this start a day early?  These seem like a bad April Fools joke.

Oh it's just a new thread, not a new sale.

Personally, I iiked the seperated threads for 3DS and WiiU, as I never play my WiiU. But maybe I'm in the minority of people who prefer separate threads.
