Battleborn + Season Pass + $10 Reward Card for $63 from Best Buy (GCU)

This is my first post, hopefully it's an alright deal!

I did a search, but I didn't find this particular deal anywhere. If you're a GCU member and you add both Battleborn and the Season Pass to your cart at the Best Buy website, you get your normal 20% on the game and an additional 25% off the season pass.

I haven't seen discounts on season passes outside of gold editions before. Also, with GCU you get the $10 rewards card for preordering. You're realistically able to get the game and season pass for $53 when its all said and done.

I'd be interested in this game if it werent for the fact Overwatch hits Beta right around the same time then releases barely a few weeks later.

I feel like its gonna get absolutely blown out by it. No matter how fun it may be, I don't feel like paying near full retail to end up with another Evolve or something on my hands. (Community dies out fast and the only thing left is hardcore players)

Wow color me surprised that season pass Msrp is only 19.99 lol

I would be all over season pass for call of duty or battlefront etc if they were priced like that

Overwatch is a non-starter for me simply because it has no single player.

I think Gearbox is proving to be a one trick pony. Battleborn feels like a reskinned Borderlands. Oooh they added some MOBA like elements. Wasn't impressed by the Beta. Also Battleborn and Overwatch feel very similar, I wonder who copied who?

Nice price but I am getting Brink/Evolve vibes from this game. Although, those games at least had hype before they launched and Battleborne is getting none. It seems completely overshadowed by Overwatch. I'm actually more interested in Battleborn's gameplay than in Overwatch's but it doesn't look like the community is going to be there for this one. Gearbox might have a bomb on its hands here.

i hope they do this with all games  that dont have an gold edition

I hate this argument. I don't even touch the single player in Call of Duty, Battlefield, or mostly any other game that is heavily focused on multiplayer. Why do people want them to waste time and resources on a single player portion when they can better the multiplayer, which is what the game is all about...

Because there are a lot of us that do play the singe player. In fact, that's the only reason I look forward to the new Call of Duty's is because I love playing their campaigns. I can redbox it for a couple of days, beat the campaign and then return it.

I agree. I do t really care about the multiplayer any with Call of Duty since, IMO really, Call of Duty multiplayer is just too ridiculous now. Although it was skewed in its balance it definitely felt a lot more balanced before. I haven't been impressed by the story in the past 2 installments of the series but I do like playing through it. Perhaps since they are trying to make it more of a co-op story, if they did something more with the characters and such I would enjoy it more. Though I have to say that of the last 3 Call of Duty games, Black Ops 3 I have enjoyed more than the previous 2. We'll see what the next game brings. It will still sell after all.

The beta for this is some of the most fun I have had in a long time, I highly recommend people check it out, this is a great deal.

I also had a lot of fun with the beta once I squaded up with four of my friends who seemed competent at shooters. I was all set to preorder until this thread reminded me of evolve. I think I'll wait now :p

To echo comments me and two buddies had a blast in the beta. I am going to put $5 down at BBY today in store and see what happens in the coming few weeks or so. I can always cancel my pre-order and get my $5 back if I change my mind.

The season pass doesn't interest me right now though so I know I'm passing on this deal.

Thanks OP! Probably gonna preorder for $10 Rewards Cert then flip back to BBY like with Evolved. It looks like a bad FPS league.

Hmm...might just wait for the inevitable (and soon) steep discount. 2K games usually drop very quickly, especially Borderlands games. Sports games seem to the the only exception, of course.

best buy trade in's have been really bad this year, division and far cry primal both came in at $35 and dropped to $30 within a week. Quantum Break still isn't in the system and has been out a week almost.

Pretty much all new games are coming in at $35 now, a week late, going to $30 quickly so even with the $10 cert you still end up paying money after taxes, etc.

True, but you gotta have faith.

Plus the points alone from BBY CC, GCU, and Elite Plus make up for the lower TIVs.

I really don't see these weird shooters getting much traction when Uncharted 4 is right around the corner.

The MP on that game is very hectic and fast paced. I see it doing quite well. I know it's 3rd person view and scrubs can't

handle it but it's still alot of fun.

I wish I didn't suck at shooters with controllers or I might've liked the beta

different strokes for different folks. Not everyone gives a damn about MP? You do? Thats great but IMO its shortsighted to disregard a segment of the gaming population that is into a solo experience. I only ever play CoD games for their campaigns now and dont even touch games that are exclusively MP. I used to out of college but I dont have time to get into MP anymore. i prefer to play games at my own pace and schedule

To be fair, this game does have 10 single player/coop missions that are good for replaying and the 2 in the beta are great imo

Huh? You can pick up and play MP at any time, and you can drop out at any moment too. Kinda makes no sense.

I'm fine with multiplayer only titles, but only if all the maps are free DLC, preferably the characters and weapons are as well.

Not if you want to actually do it competitively. If you arent playing consistently, you fall behind those that actually do play all the and are well versed in the games mechanics, level layouts, etc... I used to be fairly decent in CoD several years ago but I odnt have time to play it the same way. I used to play with online friends but I dont have the free time to dedicate a schedule which is why I prefer games i can run at my own pace and not feel like Im holding anyone down

this is exactly how i feel in the division, i played through the main game mostly solo or with a buddy from work. now i have to do matchmaking to play the challenging missions to get phoenix points and yellow gear, and im always wondering if the 3 other guys are thinking what is this moron doing. its why i basically changed most of my gear, perks, talents to be more of a support type.

Pretty sure he was talking about being able to buy Evolve with the $10 GC, not trading in BB. Could be wrong though.

Technically since Borderlands doesn't have MP at all, it's a whole new mode for playing the game. Also, what amount of the SP I've been exposed to has had top notch writing just like Borderlands did. BB and OW are similar, but very different.

.

Also, why are there so many comparisons to Evolve for BB? That don't make no sense.

Was debating preordering it but I'm on Xbox and it looks like they are giving PS4 players the hand jobs with early beta and free dlc. Might make me lean more towards just getting Overwatch.

I tried the game, not liking it. So we got a character with a bow that is freaken ass slow. Half the enemies won't sit still. Boring Customization. No head gear at all after they done it in BL? Only three taunts, also only a small amount of colors(I wish they learn after BL to make actual physical difference instead of just a pallet swap) and with the color they have is mostly monochrome, seriously?! With so much color you can do, you go lazy ass and just monochrome everyone? Wth can't we just change the colors on our own? That one thing I don't get with games. Why go for fix pallet instead of full custom? Also the skill tree(if you want to call it that) is nothing more than having to chose between two skill each level. It complete crap. Give an actual tree, way to go half ass backwards. I think they should have cut down the amount of characters tremendously if they are just going to half ass them with crap trees, crap customization, and crap looks.

I definitely not going to get this one. I'm on the edge with Doom, if they are going to fully cater it to MP instead of the SP the series is about I will cancel(may still do and wait) and I don't know about Overwatch but not really up for that one. The $10 cert for each game at BB is not worth it.

This is pretty typical with MOBA style games.

Yeah the more I hear about Battleborn the more I think I'll just go play Smite or something. Dooms ridiculous SP price turned it from a day one to a "wait for Black Friday". Overwatch is my only hope now. I'm more excited for the TMNT game from Platinum than any of these tbh.

I have to agree from my first couple of hours in the beta, I guess I was just hoping for a bigger Borderlands experience. The skill tree in this game is very limited(If you can even call it a skill tree) . I will give it some more time before I decide if it is a buy or pass, I am also going to give Overwatch a try and see which one I like better.

I don't understand why everyone expected Battleborn to be another Borderlands... is it just because it's Gearbox? I think some of you just need to be introduced to MOBAs so you can decide if you like the genre first... it's not really fair to say the game sucks just because it's not the general FPS you were expecting.

The only MOBAs I've played are MNC and GoME and I fell in love with both of them. I'm getting some great first impressions after the 10 hours or so I've put in the beta... it definitely scratched that MOBA itch for me and has me considering a day one purchase now.

Which is exactly why I don't like MOBAs. I have no idea why the genre is so popular.

Because kids today are growing up playing shit mobile games and holding them up as examples of good game design. Parents have a moral obligation to force their children to start playing games on the original NES and wear an onion on their belt... which was the style of the times.

They can keep what they have but fix some stuff

Customization is so backward.

No head changes,

Very limited color scheme, most of it monochrome.

Skill "tree" is crap

No weapon loot

Coming from BL they went so far backwards that they fell of the cliff they climbed.
