PSA: Amazon now allows using Amazon Gift Cards to purchase other Gift Cards

CAGiversary!
Not a deal per say, but useful for those who do trade-ins or flips with them and hate being locked in with them. They offer Gamestop, Nordstrom, Starbucks, and various restaurants to name a few.

man i wish i saved all the amazon gc all that time ago

Use your fucking head OP... Making a spectacle out of this is about as smart as Thorbahn's dumbshit idea to post the Amazon double 20% off glitch.

It's been mentioned numerous times in other threads, but in those cases people are smart enough to use discretion so it doesn't blow up all over Slickdeals and everywhere else.

fuck.

From my understanding, it's not actually a glitch, as much as a purposeful change in policy.

really? In a world where most companies are taking away the ability to buy other gift cards with their own, Amazon is bucking the trend, purposely saying, "Please, take this money you have locked in here at Amazon, and spend it at Gamestop."

ok.

Pepperidge farm doesn't even remember when only video games deals were in the video game section.

Yes, I know, I get it. But at the same time, how many people are planning on buying credit to buy credit to buy credit to buy credit? You're the reason we eventually can't have nice things. You're the shopping equivalent of the motorcyclist that rides the line to get to the front and acts like that's not ridiculous.

Has there been an announcement or did you just see that applying gift cards works now?

Lol, you are obviously new here. This is big news for me, I'm a true CAG.

I also noticed that I was able to gift myself a year of Prime using my gift card balance as well.  Not sure if you can just checkout like normal but I figured I’d purchase through the gift option method since years ago that was a loophole which other cags had reported a few months ago was patched when they offered Prime for $20 off temporarily.

I haven't noticed a change in their terms and conditions, but I originally found out through a random post through some random blog (very detailed source I know) that showed up in the little news cards on my Google app on my Android smartphone. This change / error has been active since at least Saturday.

Well, I know for a fact that I could not purchase a GameStop gc in December with my Amazon credit. So, I appreciate the OP posting...if it is a glitch, well, that sucks. If it is an actual change, great.

I buy credit for credit all the time...because $20 saved here and there adds up...house money is free money, especially when most of the purchases are done digitally (no driving required) or at places I shop almost daily. I live in the 'burbs surrounded by Targets, GameStops, Best Buys, etc. Plus, I enjoy maximizing savings through customer-friendly policies, within reason of course.

If you don't take advantage of this stuff because you want to stick to some moral high ground or worry about the ability to do these things in the future, more power to you...but remember, wealthy people didn't get that way because they followed the same rules as everyone else because 'it was the right thing to do.' They found an advantage and maximized their return. Then that loophole closed and then they found another...rinse, repeat. Sorry.

So wait, how is this a deal?

I thought MSRP was not a deal?
It's a deal because Gamestop giftcards are the most fluid of the 'trade in shops' and because of that transferring credit from Amazon to GS at no loss (as opposed to overloading gamestops with the one long term flip) is a deal that should be known.

So, can you buy a Amazon gift card with a Amazon gift card and then transfer it to another account or someone else?

I can't get it to work on the email delivery gamestop gift card. Seems like it will accept it for mail delivery gift cards though.
I think the eGift cards are just weird. I remember a while back trying to buy them and getting a financing offer with my Amazon store card and it was a no go, but buying physical gift cards and getting a financing offer worked just fine.

They offer Sears and Gamestop, both of whom sell eBay, which can then be used to purchase Best Buy gift cards.
Good luck using a Sears GC to buy any other Gift Card. Registers may allow it (can't confirm) but every and all associates at each of my local stores are trained to not even attempt it... I have certainly tried.

That being said I've never had a problem buying eBay gift Cards with GameStop gift cards at GameStop B&M stores but I've seen some posts where employees have denied it (the registers WILL allow it as of last week).

I thought this was always a thing. I remember trying to buy a Gamestop and Build a Bear gift card months ago and it always applied the gift amount because they ship them.

- spend 100 store credit for amazon credit at GS.

- get points for purchase

- buy 100 gs gift card at amazon

-repeat

They're cracking down on that across Gamestop, so don't assume that's doable for everyone.

Wow, you must have one hell of a Sears near you then. My local Sears is a falling apart crapshack with a revolving door of employees who either disappear because they were smart enough to leave or got canned because they were crap.

Also bare in my kmarts suffice just as well.
