So a bunch of old PS1 games are being sold from Amazon.com (shipped and sold by Amazon) for some great prices. They are all Greatest Hits but that shouldn't matter too much. Not sure if all of these are the going rates but seem like good prices imo.

$9.99 Final Fantasy 1 & 2 Remastered (OOS)

$9.99 Chrono Cross (backordered)

$9.99 Final Fantasy Anthology (FFV & FFVI) (backordered)

$10.44 Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 (backordered)

$12.92 Syphon Filter 3 (about on par with other sellers though)(backordered)

$14.99 Final Fantasy IX

$21.49 Final Fantasy Chronicles: Chrono Trigger / FFIV (third parties)

Wow, what an amazing find. I just ordered Chrono Cross. I always wanted to play it but it came out in the tail end of the PS1 and I jumped on PS2 pretty quick and never looked back. I hear it's the PS1's swan song. Great graphics and amazing animations (for the time). I remember reading it was as good or better looking than a lot of PS2 launch to Year 1 games.

I own the rest of the games on that list either as black titles or really cheap greatest hits.

Is this game not selling or they did print a billion of them?
They most def printed billions of them. What happens a lot of time with new old stock of retro games is a distributor either goes out of business or has to move. They find tons of new old stock and sell them to amazon and the likes at silly low prices. On some occasions even NES and SNES games go on the market as new this way. I doubt their recent reprints. The last PS1 game to get an official reprint was MGS1 for the PS2 collection.

Chrono cross was amazing, up there with legend of dragoon. From what I remember they really nailed the time travel mechanic. Definitely have to buy again!

Square was printing GH copies of Chrono Cross & the FF compilation discs all throughout the PS2's lifespan. IIRC they finally stopped around 2006-2007 and have been sitting on tons of unsold copies since.

Probably helps that you can get most of these cheaper digitally or in updated forms (the older FFs)

FF IX just got on steam and pretty sure there were codes to get it for ~$13 plus eventually it'll be less than that even

I know some people insist on the original stuff. So good for them. But if they're GH that'll be against some "must be original" people. Oh well, cool for those that want it!

I haven't even played any games in the past couple days. Just doing the infinite boss souls glitch on DS3 till I get tired. I should get a life. And stop typing.

I remember I never finished chrono cross that was fun but disc got stuck near the end lol..too bad no ps1 to play ..do you guys have a ps1 or how do you still play these

I think you mean on par.

They reprinted a bunch of these games a few years back. Some of them actually have silver backs instead of black oddly enough.

Almost all of these have been at this price or lower for quite a long time now. We're turning into SD.

On second look, that comment may have sounded ruder than I intended.

I'll be damned, I never knew that.

I have a ps1 and a ps one but never felt like un boxing them to play some games I'd been hankering for like vandal hearts, fear effect.
aye, only PS2 emulation was removed from later models of PS3s. They've always had PS1 across the board, since it was software emulation, not hardware.

I bought multiple copies of these Squaresoft game titles (FF7, FF9, Chronciles, Anthology, etc.) like 8 years ago at TRU for $7.50 each. I ended up making bank on FF7, but broke even on the rest. Now I know why.

Looks like $10 is the cost for digital version of Chrono Cross.  Since I have a PS3 and Vita, guess it makes more sense to get the digital version so I can play on both eh?

Not really rude. It's been that price for years. Looked back at my order history and I bought Chrono cross for $10 in 2014. Awd has dingers for $1-$2 cheaper.

I dunno might be a while before FF XI his the $5.99 mark. Square are kind of jerks

yeah i have chrono cross digitally which i play on my vita ..looks better on a small screen rather than on ps3 with big screen but at least i learned that ps1 games can be played on ps3 lol, thanks op! :D

If you have a backlog you might want to hold off and wait for another PSN sale. They tend to go for about $5 when it ever it hits a sale. I'm still waiting for another round so I can finish off my FF collection.

I was mostly referring to my SD comment, though after a quick look, the topic creator made the topic over there, too, and posts a lot on SD, so my snark was actually on target for once.

Sorry for posting deals... It looks like it's the best price currently for them. Guess we should only post price mistakes and Amiibo threads right.

For those that appreciate deals being posted, FF1&2 as well as Chrono Cross is OOS. Not sure when it will be back. FFAnthology is backordered now. EDIT: Chrono Cross is back but backordered.

I shame my PS4 by making it watch videos of the PS1, PS2, and PS3 (and PSP and Vita doing it digitally) playing them until it finally concedes.

Yeah most of these are half price on squares black Friday. They've been available for so long I can't imagine they'll go anywhere fast.

Dragonball Z: Ultimate Battle 22 is down to $7.99 new with Prime shipping.  Only a few copies left.

Ordered one.  12-year-old me would be very happy since this is a game I wanted badly but could never get my hands on, as it hadn't been released in NA until years after I grew out of the show.

Didn't care much for Ultimate Battle 22 back in the day. Kind of sluggish and unresponsive. On the other hand, Dragon Ball Z Legends, which came out around the same time, is probably still my favorite DBZ game ever. Simplistic controls and gameplay, but super fast paced and so much fun to play.

You mean half price of $10 or $10 after the half? So you're saying this is not that good of a deal?
I can't remember now really. I'm thinking half off the $10 but don't quote me for sure. Not that it's not good, but it's been matched and probably beaten before.

But maybe worth it with prime if you really want it soon.

I can't imagine being half the 10 new or even just < 10 is really good. I guess this deal is not bad either...then again we are cheapassgamers. We strive for the best deals :p
