few questions need a cheap replacement

thinking a hp for 99 bucks  20 inch...  Best buy said something about used  TV?

but question is how hard will it be used to getting used to since i had  this square shape one since 2003 and its a  14 inch.. They said i will not find anything below a  20 inch

Holy shit... same monitor for over 10 years. Was a CRT (the big, heavy boxed shape monitors) or and LCD (flat)?

If it was a CRT, it's gonna be quite an adjustment. If it was an LCD, then it likely won't take a huge adjustment... it'll likely be brighter and have better colors than your old one. But if you need speakers built in, then those speakers are gonna suck. Also, it'll likely be 1080p so everything is gonna look smaller.

You'll also want to consider inputs. Guessing your computer only has VGA or DVI out... most monitors today have HDMI (Which will work with a DVI to HDMI cable) but some still come with DVI. So you might need to buy a new cable too. If your computer is VGA only, then that'll make things more complicated (can't do VGA to HDMI, but you can do VGA to DVI).

Holy crap, that resolution...

Yeah, it's gonna be a bit of an adjustment. Most monitors today still support 720p, which is fairly close to the vertical resolution your old monitor had but is gonna be much wider.

I don't recommend HP monitors. I have a Viewsonic that's been running for 6 years now. Don't skimp on a monitor you're going to replace as soon as it breaks.
