Brink $4.99/$3.99 GCU (Xbox 360)

FYI this is $.99 at GS used, and there's a pretty good chance you can find a sealed copy from when it was converted to used.

Checked GameStop.com before posting. It probably was $.99 not too long ago, but it's currently $4.96 for a used copy.

Copies of this game belong in the Atari game burial site...

God, i remember I sold the Fallout pack for this game for about 20-30 at the time. Thank god I made money off that terrible game.

Brink is beyond all doubt the WORST "day one" game I ever bought.  It is not worth any money and you should be paid to take it, similar to how 1800junk is paid to take garbage from you.  Even reading this thread about the game is time wasted you won't ever get back.

ditto ditto ditto

I picked up Brink for $5 a few years ago at Five Below.  Wasn't that bad of a game, honestly.  I had heard the launch was pretty awful, but things were supposedly fixed later on with updates.  Unfortunately, no one was playing by then... so there would only be 2 or 3 other people on the team and the rest were bots.  It was fun though by that point. Far better than I expected, I will say.

Brink was not that bad of a game and moved the genre forward in a few areas that are still evident today. Wished they would have just spent a little more time cooking it so they could've shored up it's faults.

lol I brought this game as 1 of my fillers during Target's b1g2 earlier this year on a $9.99 bundle so basically $3.33 whatever that came with the slipcover & everything....and returned it after reading the reviews lol... no real story line/campaign, it's more of like a team deathmatch or whatever lol.

lol @ everyone saying this was horrible on Day 1...hmm worse than Aliens Colonial Marines?

When I bought this for a dollar a few months back the GameStop employee told me not to get it & I laughed arguing the opening CGI was pretty bad ass at the very least so it's worth it just for that & since it was complete in original case. He went on to say how broken the game was at launch. Whatever. It was a dollar.

I think I found said GameStop employee.

The game was definitely broken at release but I still enjoyed it a lot... enough so to complete it on 360 and PS3 both. Not nearly enough content to justify the day one price but at this point you could do much worse.

I heard Brink had some good ideas, and that the problem with the game is the developer just didnt have enough time and resources to make it great. Sort of like Alpha Protocol- the concept and mechanics of the game were actually pretty cool. The publisher/developer situation just didnt put out a quality finished product.

Don't sully AP name with this. :)

I still stand by the opinion that if AP had come out in Oct. 09 like it was supposed to before Sega listened to some random Sony employee to delay the game, it would have been a decent seller for Sega.

But then Bioware put out 2 RPG's (one with an expansion) & Obsidian was busy with 2 other games (Dungeon Siege 3 & New Vegas) that the delay did nothing but kill the game since it's obvious the game wasn't touched during the delay.

CAG's may also remember this was the original SHC-Josh KMart deal at $45 at launch.

i remember buying this from Best Buy years ago for like $5 new. played it for about a week with a friend against bots but it got old pretty quick and too many better games to play. also, there are different classes of characters (light, medium, heavy). however, only the heavy characters were fun to play as since the other classes die very easily. the bots were a good challenge though. they kinda reminded me of the bots from the Red Faction games.

Remember at gs someone try to trade it in with marvel ultimate alliance 2 PSP. They couldn't take it so the guy gave it to me for free

I thought Brink was a fun game. Definitely not worth $60 by any stretch of the imagination though. It was pretty much a must to play with friends because it was pretty brutal solo. I'm still kicking myself for not downloading the dlc when it was free on PS3 for like the first few weeks after launch. Back then I thought I had to own the game to get the dlc and wasn't planning on playing the PS3 version. I'm more than a little shocked the dlc didn't go back to free with as poorly as the game sold.  I got the 360 version for like $10 and the PS3 version for like $5 not long after that. I think I got the 360 version back when Gamer's Club was a magazine and coupons and there was like a $15 or $20 off coupon when the game was selling for $30.

I'd be curious if the servers are still up. I'd actually be willing to play with people on PS3 or 360 if some CAGs get it.

Brink was a good game plagued by many things.

One, It was a fun PVP shooter without any good single player content. Yes, you can play against bots but it was a below average experience. You gotta remember it was one of the first to attempt PVP shooter without a single player portion. It was bashed badly in an era when single player was still highly valued.

Two, the matchmaking was completely messed up. It won't balance team based on skills or numbers. Meaning, it can put 6 2.0KD players against 3 0.5KD players. All the while keep pouring more new players onto the team with 6 players.

Three, very, I mean, very steep learning curve. Hard for average played to master in-game mechanics. Players who mastered it have a massive advantage over players who can't. For example, light class (even with less armor and health) moves faster, can wall run, smaller hitbox and combined with grenades shooting talent. Light class was the goto class for any competitive players who mastered the game.

Four, no lucky twitch shooting. No 0.1 second body shot TTK so if you aren't good at the game, you're just screwed.

It was a good PVP shooter but too hardcore for average players. The devs thought too highly of the shooter gaming community and they couldn't make the game into a competitive Esport like CS. The game flopped and tanked.

The game was a pioneer of its time and the gaming community just weren't quite ready for something like it. Heck, I think even the devs themselves weren't ready for what they made.
