Bloodborne $19.99 ($15.99 w/ GCU) @ BestBuy

Really brilliant and immersive game that I stopped playing half way thru last year really need to go back to it . I thought $30 two months after launch was a steal a year ago, $16 is amazing

Pretty much. I think the way it handles healing is more noob friendly but yes, you will die a lot especially in the beginning areas
agreed, I normally use a shield about 75% of the time in the Souls game and not against bosses. The dodge mechanic is a bit different I think. It is tougher that way as Monkey indicated. I couldn't get past Father G but I was able to kill the other boss on the bridge in the first area before I flipped it. I'll have to pick up again as this is a bit cheaper than BF with GCU.

This is definitely more noob friendly. I beat this last week. My prior experience is with Demon Souls but I've yet to beat that one.

For Father Gascoigne, make sure to use the music box which then stuns him.

I love the souls games, but Bloodborne is my favorite. The generally creepier setting and story line is much more to my liking.

Having never played Demon's Souls or Dark Souls, wondering if I should attempt those games. Heard those games were so hard, only the hardest-core gamers can get through them. Dang, I could have swore I owned Demon's Soul, but I can't find it anywhere in my collection. I have Dark Souls 2 for PS4 but is Dark Souls 1 for PS3 with DLC worth getting for $30 or is it so tough I should forget about it?

My Bloodborne arrived today in the mail but can hear the darn disk is rattling around in the case. Have to find a store with the game in-stock so I can exchange it. Heard this happens a lot with PS4 games.

My packages arrived with a loose disc inside also. Ordered 5 games from the sale and 2 arrived rattling inside. Going to exchange this in store as it is still sealed.

so for someone that's not a vet (like myself), it's going to beat me down and make me its bitch like the souls games?
I liked this game a lot better than Dark Souls. Yes, some bosses can be pretty difficult but it's trial and error and sometimes a little luck. I was never really "stuck" on a boss for a long period of time. Had this game on my backlog for a long time and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. Loved it.

Yep, I leave any game with rattling disks sealed. Some of those sales guys will try to tell you because the game is on a bluray disk, it's not easy to scratch. I just tell them when it comes to my game collection, I take no chances.

I completely agree. In my case I never played any of the Souls games. BB was definitely my favorite game I played last year. The atmosphere reminds me of Vampire Hunter D. I still play this game for the multiplayer and being one trophy away from that Platinum trophy. I highly recommend the DLC too. This is coming from a guy who buys DLC and never plays it. Some of the best Weapons are found in the DLC, Pizza Cutter of Death im looking at you!!!!!!

Depends. I've never played a Souls game before and I started playing Bloodborne a couple weeks back for the first time. I was surprised how little trouble it's been giving me. I think I've beaten about 7 or 8 bosses so far and only 3 of them ever killed me (2 of them only got me once, the 3rd killed me 3 times). Just get in the habit of of ALWAYS keeping enough stamina to dodge and you might breeze through it like I am

Looks like Amazon matched the BB price for Bloodborne $19.99

Amazon also matched Until Dawn $19.99  (prime member exclusive)

But we have GCU so we good

Man if only that 20% off amazon prime discount amazon also applies to old games then i would buying more from them. Just sucks that they only offer it for new release games and preorders.

I'm right there with you. If they did it on some older games for Prime Members I would order more from them.

That's pretty awesome! I didn't know that. I use a similar tactic of timing perfectly placed shots/ flame sword/ devastating critical strikes. Great fight.

Any chance of more DLC for this game?  I know there's the Old Hunters DLC but I'm wondering if its worth it to wait for a Game of the Year Edition.

Nope, Sony announced that Old Hunters is the only DLC. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/no-plans-for-more-bloodborne-dlc-after-the-old-hun/1100-6430696/

As for a GOTY edition, there's a digital bundle on PSN for $50, but no physical copy. Disc on sale + DLC for $20 is your cheapest option unless Sony discounts the bundle during a sale.

On another note, I just finished the game for the first time today and I've come down with a case of post-game depression. I'm going to miss traversing this world with a fresh set of eyes. Knowing whats in store for you via a second playthrough just isn't the same.

Oh well. Doom comes out in a couple days at least

I had this during my brief period of owning a PS4.  I plan on picking one up again in the near future, so now I need to decide to buy this now or wait and see if it drops lower.

Or Dark Souls 3? That seems the obvious next step, despite the combat differences.

On that note, people give the game hate I miss the way Dark Souls 2 remixed some of the enemy locations, encounters and added things to boss fights (like adds), not to mention putting Pursuers in some places. They didn't just make things hit harder and have more health while adding some "+" rings like the other Soulsbourne games.

Also nice in 2 was the ability to up the NG+ level on a per bonfire basis (except certain things that did not upgrade), but that went in hand with the way enemies stopped spawning after a dozen kills.

Had the game world been more intertwining and a few combat tweaks, I think 2 would be considered the superior iteration of the series.

Jump on DS3 like defpally suggests, especially while you're still hungry for this style of game. From a CAG perspective, I bet DOOM's price will drop sooner than DS3's will.

It wasn't so much the gameplay I enjoyed as much as it was the atmosphere. The fantasy adventure a la Elder Scrolls or Lord of the Rings that Dark Souls has doesn't interest me the same way as Bloodborne's Gothic, Victorian London horror theme

For those on the fence that love a good challenge and have never played a Souls game before, I totally recommend this game. You will die...a lot...and then you'll die some more. I've found that this is actually the easiest game to get into out of all the Souls especially if starting fresh because you won't be hindered by the shield playstyle from the other games. At $16, it's a really good buy unless you can find it in a RedBox kiosk for $9. There are definitely some bullshit parts of the game that are terrible, but it really just revolves around this one level that's relatively short. If you're a trophy hunter, this is also the easiest Souls game to plat.

Like other posters have said as well, the atmosphere is absolutely amazing.

Gotcha, I was the same way. I'm more a Castlevania fan and avoid most sword/sorcery fantasy games. Souls games are the exception :)

Haven't played anything like this since Demon's Souls, which I didn't even finish, because... Demon's Souls. Skipped all the Dark Souls games. For $16, why not. Thanks OP!

Held off on this forever because I figured a GOTY version would eventually release and I hate being stuck with Vanilla versions once a GOTY releases. But for $16 and the rumors that they aren't going to release the complete one in the states, I figured why not.

I totally get that. But one of the interesting things about DS3 is they are using the Bloodborne engine, and I'm pretty sure they re-used assets from Bloodborne, as the environments feel VERY similar, in my opinion. They also re-used some concepts from Bloodborne in lieu of previous Dark Souls games, like weapons and armor being less about what is more powerful and more about using what works for you. Some people stick with the initial weapon upgraded and armor for the whole game, particularly for the Knight class. There is also a lot more "corrupted monstrosity" type enemies than "dudes in armor" that Dark Souls 2 with which was filled. Poise once had significant influence, but it has been altered (and some think removed in functionality). Choose a dual wielding type class/play style and it can be very similar to Bloodborne.

It's definitely worthwhile down the road if you can get it for a deal.

I've heard so much about Bloodbourne on the bombcast I had to at least check it out. After 3 hours of dying, dying, and dying some more; I have to say this game rocks. My deaths feel fair, like I didn't do something right. The game (so far) doesn't feel like the deaths are cheap. There's that one part of Far Cry 3 where you have to defend the plane to get to the rest of the game/map. I have played that scene 50 time to the point of throwing the controller over the controls that stop working and the cheap kills. I finally gave up. So far Bb feel like a fair fight. Can't wait to play more.
