Can someone explain why this is significant to CAG?

So the gif was actually used here on CAG long before I even registered and came out of lurking. Since 2014, the AWD thread (and many others) have seen the faces of Johnathan Frakes, William Shatner, and Leonard Nimoy as a response to something funny or something completely stupid (mostly the latter), or just for me to score likes like points in the show "Whose Line is it Anyway?". Not sure why I'm admitting that for the internet to see.

I was considering biting on this one, as the price is ok and I've been 6 for 6 so far in my CE's arriving complete, but hadn't seen the "identification markings" on many descriptions:

Clear external signs of wear or damage to the packaging or instructions may be present. Game may have identification markings from its previous owner

 

...although, I guess they could just be store stickers on the outside of the box?
