Couple questions about changing my email address

The email I used when making this account has been deleted. I wanted to make sure that I don't have to respond to any confirmation emails in my deleted email account when switching to a different email address.

Also I saw in the instructions that I have to "re-activate" my account. This doesn't mean my account gets reset/content gets removed does it? Or will it stay unaffected.

When I changed mine last year, the reactivation was just confirming the new email address.  Nothing was lost and no setting changed.
