[Pre-Order] Odin Sphere Leifthrasir (PS4) - $49.99 at Newegg

Be very careful pre-ordering non-mainstream games at NewEgg, because their solution to "we got more orders than we expected" is to simply cancel the orders at a discount.  Which will screw you out of potential pre-order discounts at other places.  I pre-ordered something there expecting to get it on time and save some money, only for them to wait a couple days and cancel the order because they were "out of stock".  And of course it showed up back in stock a couple days later at full price.

For most stuff NewEgg is great and I have ordered there for other things, but I avoid pre-order games from them when they offer discounts.

honestly its insane that a remastered game is this price... you could have bought the original ps2 game for your ps3 digitally for $5.

Im not saying its not worth $29.99

but $59.99 is pure insanity.

Not disagreeing with you completely, but from what I've seen it is more of a remake than a remaster. They have added a lot and as I understand it runs WAY better than the PS2 version.

It's a smaller company and they are not going to sell mainstream kind of numbers on this one. Dragon's Crown was utterly fantastic, but it didn't sell crazy numbers. If it were going to move mainstream numbers, I'd say $39.99 or maybe even $49.99 would be more appropriate.

That said, I'm glad they are bringing it over. The alternative might have been having to import it and then even less people get to try it.

The way I see a game like this, it has a very dedicated niche audience. That audience wants it, period. Everyone else doesn't care, period. Therefore everyone that wants it day one will buy it regardless of the MSRP, and everyone else isn't buying it for $60 or for $30.

Well it isnt a activision, EA, sony or some other big companies game where they have deep deep pockets. Not to mention this isnt a remaster at all, they redid the game from the ground up and included a pretty good amount of new content, more of a remake than a remaster where its the same game with increased graphics resolution. Its also not going to sell like gang busters either being a smaller named game from a smaller company.

Not sure why its even worth mentioning though considering value is personal taste. There are plenty of remasters that came out for less like resident evil 5 and 6 at 20 bucks but thats way too much for me, and in the same hand I wouldnt ever pay 60 for a call of duty, madden, halo game that comes out. But to me odin sphere is worth it to me, enough so I got the collectors edition, but even that value wouldnt have been enough if I didnt get GCU with it. Just because you wouldnt pay that much for it doesnt mean its baffling that someone else would.

What defpally said. This release resembles a remake much more than it does a remaster. It's 1080p 60fps now, for one. Additionally, art assets and animations were re-drawn, new environments and enemies have been added, the combat system was completely overhauled (so much so that it now plays more like a character action game on a 2D plane), there's a new skill system, they've streamlined some of the more obtuse systems in the original, and new modes and post-game content were added.

Of course, mileage will vary greatly regarding how much that's worth for each individual person, and that's totally fine, but you definitely wouldn't be getting a product in parity with the re-release if you were to buy the PS2 original.

Actually, I would buy it if it was 30, but not for more.

I'm just speaking more about the general audience for a title like this. Obviously some people will fall outside of these bounds, especially around here. What I mean is this type of title doesn't tend to generate a lot of attention based on price. There are people that want it and will pay to have it and there are people that just aren't interested. It won't generate a lot of price based interest from game players.
