Advice: Xbox One S or current Xbox One bundle?

Hi guys - need some buying advice.  I wasn't sure if this was better off in the Xbox subforum, so if Mods believe so, please go ahead and move.

Basically a few friends have been trying to get me to get back into the Xbox scene (have an upgraded 360 now) and I'm not sure what the best option is.  I currently have a 1080p projector and a 40 something inch TV.  I'm not planning on going 4k anywhere in the foreseeable future.

I've been watching slickdeals and there has been some really fantastic bundles for the 1tb old system. (last one came with a gift card, extra controller, a bunch of games, etc etc for 299)

Seeing that I'm not going 4k, and size really isn't super important, and with Scorpio on the horizon, does it make more sense to go with the older system versus the "S" coming out on the 2nd of August?  Just wanted to see your guy's opinions.

Thanks!!

The Xbox One slim is 40% smaller and has a built-in power supply. It supports 4K video playback (which you've already stated that you don't care about at this juncture in your life). The one thing that people do forget to mention about the Xbox One Slim is that there is also a slight performance increase as compared to the normal Xbox One. But it only helps to reduce the frequency of frame rate drops or resolution penalties. No graphical increase or anything else of the sort. So if you're a stickler for those kinds of things, I figured I would let you know.

Now, unless any of that information excites you, I would personally just stick to buying the normal Xbox One, since as you mention, there are some killer deals for the console these days.

I don't know if they changed this since E3, but I seem to remember the official announcement saying that the Slim would not come with a controller, meaning you have to buy it separately.

Would just stick to the basic One in your case. Besides, the new one is pretty much filler until their main ticket comes out later which is the Scorpio. Unless you never plan to get the Scorpio it pretty much makes zero sense for anyone to consider the S if you already have a One. But that's not you.
