Alternative Java Client?

OK, so I've got a couple Steam games that, for whatever reason, require Java to operate. Problem is, every time I try to download it, either via Internet Explorer, Edge, or Chrome, it always stops installing due to Error Code 1601. 

Is there a way to fix this code so I can install Java or is there an alternative Java client that I can download? 

Chrome is blocking Java now. 

I needed Java for something here at work and installed Firefox and then Java.  Could not get it to work at all in Chrome or IE 11

You can also download the offline version of Java.  Both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions which are the full installs.

If not it sounds like your windows installer is messed up.  Here is some troubleshooting info from MS.

I managed to get it fixed. Had to reboot about 3 or 4 times, but it finally installed.
