I'm shopping for a new external HD, probably 1 TB or 1.5 TB in storage. What sites (or stores) offer the best prices on something like this? Any recommendations?

Western Digital My Book 4TB for $123 from Best Buy is the best price I've seen lately and thinking about biting on that.
Haven't used a Seagate hard drive in a long time for the same reason that being a bad reputation. I might reconsider Seagate since I never had a real problem with the brand.
