We got a new deal that finally joins the party:

Superhypercube - $8.24 - 45% Off - $6.74 - 55% Off - Ends 10/23

Highly recommended.

Thanks for the heads-up!  That's easily the lowest it's been on PSN, so I picked that up too!

I accidentally made a large, ill-advised purchase on PSN this weekend. I say "accidentally" because I meant to wait until next week to see if there was anything else to spend the 20% off code on. Anyway, what's done is done, so I'll be reviewing a few VR titles here (more to come) for those who prefer words to videos.

PSVR: HALLOWEEN EDITION (PART 1)

Restless Spirit: This wasn't on sale but it's been on my interest list for awhile. Basically it's a live-action VR short film with minimal interaction. You use the headset to "look" at hotspots, so it's essentially Where's Waldo. The damn thing didn't even last 10 minutes. I went back and played it several times (got my money's worth) to see if there were any other scenes I missed (there was), but I'm stuck at 94% completion and not sure what's left to do. The video quality itself looks poor and flat; 3D VR porn is still waves ahead of this game.

18 Floors: More like 2 Floors; I didn't realize this game was unfinished when I played it. Once you get to the third floor, it's To Be Continued. Apparently future levels will come in the form of DLC, but not sure whether it'll be free or paid. At any rate, it's your basic "escape room"-type puzzle game, much like The Rabbit Hole (which itself only consists of one level). The first floor was good and I enjoyed it, but the second floor threw all logic out the window and I struggled like hell before succumbing to walkthrough. Still, I thought I had 16 floors to go...

The Walker: Probably the best of this first batch, which isn't saying much. A generic, static 360° wave-shooter with only 5 levels, which can be beaten on three difficulties. You switch between a firearm and broadsword (which get upgraded through difficulty cycles) and can apply magic to either for special attacks. I found this game competent and fun, although I quickly got bored of the opening and closing animations for each stage which can't be skipped. At best, this is another Brookhaven Experiment. (Oh, and I got one 0.0% trophy that I'm excited about.)

Please don't admonish my purchases because I've already done that enough to myself. I should have a few more to share before the sale period is over.

I picked up I Expect You to Die over the weekend and had a chance to play the first 2 levels.  It's a fun game and I'm glad I picked it up.  From what I hear though it's only 4 levels and that is a shame because the puzzles (at least the first 2) were pretty simple.  I know there are some things to unlock and goals on each level, so that will give some replay value to it, but I'm guessing that this game is going to be completed very quickly and then there's really no reason to go back to it.  It's definitely not nearly as challenging as Statik is and it has a lot fewer puzzles.

There are at least 5 levels in the game: plane, sub, office, cabin, train. Playtime varies based on cleaverness. I Didn’t have too much trouble with the main missions but a friend of mine resorted to using a guide a few times (DON’T DO THAT!). The secret mission objectives give the game a lot of replay value. Many of them are hard to figure out what they want because you only get a small pun-like hint. And the speed runs need to be done pretty much perfectly to achieve. I got way more than my money’s worth out of it

Btw, Statik had that one big secret thing that spanned multiple levels. Did you ever do that? I only know of it because there is a trophy for it. It seemed incredibly involved and I wasn’t about to use a guide. Haven’t gone back to mess with it yet

Home Sweet Home comes out tomorrow and is supposed to be good. I'm too chicken to play horror games but might try Persistance again now that they patched it with infinite ammo.

No I didn't know that about Statik.

And yeah I don't plan on using a guide at all.  Guides for these kind of puzzle games would completely ruin it.

Didn't realize Home Sweet Home was a VR game. Damn. I need another 20% off code.

Exclusive physical copy only at GameStop. Ugh.

I looked up a few of those secrets after beating the game without help. It's pretty cool because there are few more challenging puzzles if you're looking for that after the regular game. Never did the co-op though and heard those were fun too.

On another note, any recommendations for Ultra Wings VR or To The Top?

A lot of those Gamestop exclusives eventually go on sale, so I'll keep an eye on it and try to pick it up if it gets below $20.

By that point; they're all gutted. Gamestop hates to keep new (ie sealed) games in stock. :(

So, I'm new to this VR, but want to get one for Christmas for my son.  I will pick up the VR and the Project Zero bundle at BB since with GCU its only $66.  Some games are obvious and with this sale the time is now to buy, but any suggestions of surprise hits?

30 bucks seems steep for Home Sweet Home, anybody play it yet?

I caved and picked up the GameStop-exclusive just because I wanted a physical copy and I don't trust GameStop to still have sealed copies once the price drops.  Haven't played it yet, but I watched a YouTube video that was recorded last week when someone got a copy from PSN before it was pulled.  Looks pretty good.  Though, it only has 11 trophies and no plat.  :(

I am so mad that The Next Generation DLC appears to be one of the "will never go on sale" variety. Bought Star Trek Bridge Crew just before they announced it and now it looks like eventually I will have to bite the bullet and pay full price. But I will hold out a little longer in the hopes I am wrong.

Has anybody been keeping up the list of physical disc VR games for region 1?

Seems like a whole bunch of them just came out in quick succession after a bit of a draught.

I have 4 levels left in the main story of Astro Bot and I'm kind of sad that I only have 4 left.  There are like 3-4 levels I have to go back to and get a bot or chameleon that I missed, but other than that I really don't have much reason to go back to previous levels, unless something opens up after you beat it.  I do still have most of the challenge levels left though so at least I have that.  I really hope they already have a sequel in the works because it's day one for me!

I'm on world 4 and doubt there's another VR game that will compete with Astro Bot for a while. If it weren't for Red Dead I'd probably consider the rest of the year downhill at this point. Thankfully the challenge levels aren't phoned in at all and are great at giving the game the needed boost in content. Definitely gonna plat this one though.

Heads up Sony is sending out $10 codes for any ps store purchase in psvr birthday email. Seems semi targeted to psvr owners.

Was pleasantly surprised to have received this.

Somewhat unrelated, does anyone know if BL2 VR is going to be getting a physical release?

Man, Paranormal Activity really gets to me. I don't have a problem with tangible monsters, but ghosts can freak me out. Nothing much has happened, but just standing in the house with the thought of ghosts is frightening.

I've gone back to it three times, but each time I stop after fifteen minutes. I suppose doing that I'll eventually finish it.

Of course I'd buy Superhot VR the day before the $10 code gets sent out.

Any suggestions for good VR games that are on sale? My Plus expires in less than 24 hours of this post.
