"Gift Cards, Digital Gifts, and eBay Gift Cards exclusions for October 1, 2016 and January 1, 2017
After October 1, 2016, you will not be able to earn eBay Bucks when purchasing eBay Gift Cards, Gift Cards, and Digital Gifts purchases within the Gift Cards & Coupons category.
After January 1, 2017, you will not be able to redeem eBay Bucks for eBay Gift Cards within the Gift Cards & Coupons category.

Looks like they finally caught on.
So this means during those eBay bucks bonus promotions, even digital cards are null now as far as eBay bucks in general are concerned, as they don't even earn regular points now.
Also, you won't be able to buy gift cards with eBay bucks after January 1, 2017, so keep an eye out on that as well, especially since most of us just got eBay bucks issued. Might want to use them up now on those while you still can.
